Dont put your ferret on me

I like to talk walks, especially at night when its cooler. I live in a downtown area of a small town. Kinda a lot of weird people around but whatever.

I was walking one nite and I see this guy outside of a building. And he's got two ferrets each on a harness and leash. It surprised me so I was like oh wtf.

He started talking to me, dont remember what he said. It was about the animals and how they like to go for walks.

I told him my opinion was they look scared and are looking for a place to hide.

So this dude picks one up and tries to put it on my shoulder.

At the same time he's telling me I cant hold the other one because it will bite.

Dude what? I said dont put your ferret on me, take them inside. You just put your ferret on strangers walking by? I'm not surprised the other one bites.

Never seen him or the ferrets before or since. 🤷‍♀️

My best day at work

I used to be the security supervisor for a site with a small mall and a bunch of office space. It was 5 buildings with three levels of parking that the public could access.

One day I find this business card on the ground in the parking lot. It was for someone who did psychic readings palm readings stuff like that. So I pick it up.

Then I find another, and another.

I guess the person put one on every car windshield and when people got to their cars they just tossed them on the ground.

I spent two days looking for these and picking them up. It was so much fun. I love hidden object games so it was like a real life one haha.

I ended up with 45 cards. And that was my best day at work.

Months later I found one in the parking lot at a different mall in a different city. That was weird.

I almost wanted to send the person money to say thank you for entertaining me. But I didnt

Ginger and my blind roommate

Several years ago I lived in a duplex with my cat Ginger.

Eventually my friend moved in with me. He's blind. He wasn't born blind but has slowly been going blind his whole life. Great friend, great guy.

Anyway, Ginger was an indoor/outdoor cat. My cat now, Andy, I don't let outside unless she's on a harness and leash (unrelated fact).

One day my roommate told me that when I'm at work, Ginger will meow at him until he gets up and follows her. She will lead him to the patio door to let her out. Smart kitty.

Oh and in that same place I had a female friend staying with me for a bit. She had a bird. A budgie I think.

We would try to keep her bedroom door closed because Ginger was fixated on that bird. But we'd find her hiding under the bed sometimes having accidentally locked the cat in the bedroom.

The bird cage was hung from the ceiling in an attempt to protect the bird from Ginger but sure enough one day I hear this loud crash, Ginger had somehow jumped at the cage, knocking it from the ceiling.

The bird was okay and so was Ginger, but I looked at her and asked what her plan was with that because she obviously didnt think that one thru.

I miss Ginger. She was my little buddy for 19 years. 💖

Cat fort

I have built a fort for me and my cat to sleep in.

I made it out of small hooks, twine and sheets.

I've installed hippo lights.

I've got a moon light and a jellyfish lamp.

Listening to old Art Bell shows on the tablet.

I got my stuffed hippos, some chocolate ice cream.

Its just me and Andy (my cat, female) and no boys allowed.

Weird dancing guy

This happened in 2021. It was around midnight and my friend and I were sitting on chairs that had been put by the curb to give away. I lived in a duplex that was set back from the road. It wasn't a cul de sac but kinda like a mini one. We were smoking a joint and we see this guy come walking by.

He starts making some odd movements so we're like "hey man you okay? Do you need a puff?"

We approach him and he says

"I dont know what it is. It happens to me everyday. I just start doing this jig" and he starts moving his feet in this weird dance.

He repeated those words several times.

We laughed and eventually he went on his way.

About a week later the dude even stopped by to say hi. I had no idea who he was tho haha.

We always called him the weird dancing guy when we would talk about it.

Nobody told him that's not how we pronounce tiger

So I was dating this man a couple years ago. His previous relationship before me lasted 28 years.

This man was 54 and nobody told him it is not pronounced tagger it is tiger.

He was a fan of Tagger Woods.

Side note, his ex never mentioned to him that he stops breathing in his sleep either.

Ppl who bring nothing but take up too much time

I'm really busy at work. Overwhelmed a lot of the time. I do try to reach out to co-workers who could be helpful. And I pretty much email a draft of everything someone needs, they just have to answer my questions and write it down.

But soooooo many of them, when I say schedule a meeting with me, they think that means come to my office as soon as you read this. They basically say they dont agree but they do agree but we should have a meeting with everyone. Nope.

Dont waste my time.

Write it down or go away. I'm not here to listen to you talk but get nowhere. If you're bored near the end of your day, I dont care. Go away.

I may come off rude occasionally, but im not rude about it, I am very direct tho because I dont have time to pussyfoot around your ego dude.

Help or get out of the wayyyy.

Should I scan every page?

So I have right now these British newspapers. The oldest is from 1916 and the newest one is 1920.

I'm wondering if I should go thru the trouble of scanning every page of each edition or just document the cover for each one.

Is anyone interested in this type of thing?

For context, I am a volunteer for a military museum and I have been taking photos of items we have so I can share them. These papers are not related to the whole purpose of the museum, but they are close I guess.

We are about a specific base in canada. These are British but some, if not all are war editions.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you

Gossip & Rumors at 45?

Hey, so not only did I lose the only friend I had, but I'm also getting ready to resign from my volunteer job next week - basically I'm losing some things I care about ... I love my job and I use work as a way to help me keep stable, with the routine and distractions, it is helpful. But now, some of my coworkers have been gossiping about me and spreading rumors, and none of what I have been told is true.

These are people who ive talked to many times more, casually, but also more than I talk to anyone else.

I'm waiting for the manager to finish his investigation so I get a chance to confront these people. Not being able to is difficult.

And the fact that not one of them has said anything to me, asked any questions or addressed me directly. It can get me worked up, cuz f**k you guys.

I'm done this time

I'm done with you I'm done with the museum, I'm done with people at work who think they have any kind of authority over me when they don't.

I'm done being nice. I'm done wasting my time my energy my money and I'm done sacrificing my sleep, my emotions and my sanity on every f**king person who uses me, ignores me, treats me like a fool, talks sh** behind my back and doesnt see the value that I bring into things.

I have been doing this for too long with nobody considering anything I say, how I feel and what I need.

F**k all of you. And dont think I'm just going to sneak away oh no, people trusted your organization with items that belonged to their deceased loved ones, veterans, historical items, items from the early 1900's ...

And where are those items now? Ill tell you, they are stuffed in a dirty storage space covered in rat s**t and piss, in cardboard boxes, nothing protecting them from rats chewing on them or from being destroyed. They're not on display because you say there's no room? Excuse me? I counted 350 plastic piece of s**t stupid model tanks on display, and i stopped at that number cuz I got too mad. .

I bought display stands, picture frames, I printed photos and brief write ups about these people. I carefully chose items that represented them and I only put one guys stuff on display.

I moved the model tanks and I put out a man's photo, insignia and medals. A man who served with the Canadian Scottish regiment in world War one.

Today, I went in and it was moved. Taken out of the display case and one of your stupid mannequins was put in front of that display case. A mannequin wearing a British parade uniform thats been thre since before I started volunteering. When our legal purpose is to preserve and display the history of cfb chilliwack.

I'm not doing this anymore.

I'm going to take all the stuff I bought, take peoples items and put them in the bags and protectors I bought then put them back in storage and I'm going to take your no putin sign that you keep putting back out after I put it away and I'm going to boot it into the garbage. Stick that on your front lawn if you love it so much. This isn't a you museum its a legal society with 100 members that is supposed to make decisions as a group.

Now I get why nobody else helps anymore.

If my grandpa's stuff was covered in rat piss I'd take it back but thankfully his items are in a museum that can be trusted to take care of people stuff.

I got work to do so I can gather all their stuff, write down all the passwords and dump it all on the table and leave. Figure it out yourself since you run the show.

Its shameful.

I dont like getting upset

I need a place to say these things otherwise I'll text it to the only person I talk to outside of work and I'm sure he gets tired of it.

I dont like getting upset about things.

When I'm emotionally triggered I'm not able to address anything in a productive way.

It is a major problem in my life that is holding me back from advancing in my career and preventing me from having an enjoyable personal life.

Its not always a problem but when it is, things happen that only make it worse.

Before you ask, Yes I just got a call from a mental health professional that I have to call back. I need someone specifically trained to help with post traumatic stress if it is to be effective.

One of the worst things I find is other people dont understand. I know everyone deals with their own issues and I never mean to minimize anything anyone else has to go thru.

But its hard to try to communicate and then see that they cant relate to what you say. It is a good thing tho that not everyone is as fucked up.
