Bringing a podcast back from the dead after a six year hiatus.

Me and a mate had a podcast for a while, and it was so budget and so garbage, but we loved it and it did quite well. Did almost 100 episodes, had a lot of downloads, and we even got thousands of views per episode on YouTube. Heck, I even got recognised once in the street from our podcast!

And then, Covid happened. The lockdowns here in Melbourne Australia were absolutely ridiculous, couldn’t go anywhere or do anything for months. It sucked.

Took all the momentum out of the podcast, and then my mate got a job in teaching which meant he couldn’t be recording himself saying horrible things and putting it on the internet.

Six years later, and he has been fired from that job. He called me, excited, saying we should bring our podcast back from the dead!

We’re gonna catch up next week to discuss it, and I’m so excited. Gonna buy a whole bunch of recording crap tomorrow. Woo!

No idea why I wrote this post. Just excited, I guess!

I enjoy ‘aspects’ of cars, not necessarily the entire vehicle.

I’m not a JDM fanboy, but I like the 20v 4A-GE as the five-valves-per-cylinder shares engineering tech with the mid-80s Yamahas I enjoy.

I don’t care too much for an RX-7 as a complete vehicle, but I love the whole concept of a Wankel rotary.

I’m not necessarily into old muscle cars, but I do appreciate a good lumpy V8. Especially if it is supercharged.

I own and race a Subaru Impreza rally car and I love it, but mostly because of how it handles due to the AWD. It doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a Subaru fanboy, but if I hear the ‘brtrtrtrtrt’ of a WRX when driving in traffic I’ll swivel my head around to see it. If the wheels are 18” or larger the chances of it getting driven on dirt are slim, so I’ll quickly lose interest.

Not really sure why I made this post.

Took my friends WRX for a little run on his property today. So much fun.

Second lap in it, my usual drive is an Impreza G3 RS 2.0 so the power and torque of the WRX was a friendly surprise!

Bush or rural properties in or adjacent to state forests?

Gday guys and girls. Looking to buy a bush block (either bare, or with a camping hut, or maybe even an established house) either in or adjacent to a state forest in Gippsland somewhere. Will be used as a base for camping/dirt bike riding/4x4 on weekends.

Open to any suggestions, let me know if you’ve seen anything good out there! Would prefer north of Princes Hwy from Gembrook all the way to Traralgon, but open to areas such as Mirboo North or whatever. No set budget.

Cheers!

Essential outback travel supplies

Not pictured; Toyota Hilux, thermos filled with black coffee, and the 400g of salmon I just ate while driving. Packaged stuff isn’t ideal, but it’s hard to cook a ribeye while on these dirt roads.

So I ate a well-rounded diet yesterday…

…eggs for breakfast, sliced ribeye and salmon for lunch (which I posted here yesterday) and then for dinner I had crispy pork belly and roast lamb.

Back in school they always said eating a well-rounded diet is important, so I’m doing my part 🫶

Thin-sliced ribeye and smoked salmon gives you superpowers

Ribeye cooked in a huge dollop of tallow at about one million degrees, with ice cold smoked salmon and a black coffee. I could eat this every day, forever. Oh wait, I have been for years haha

About once a year I put this on. Such a visually stunning, interesting, unique film that I never hear people mention.

Top movie that you seemed to enjoy at the time but five minutes after leaving the cinema you can’t remember any of the plot and then you never think about the movie again

Engine out to fit a big bore kit, thought I’d clean the frame while at it.

Stoked! No scrubbing or polishing, just painted on some Chemtech Blitz and let it sit for 30 minutes. Still gotta rinse the frame off and re-seal it with paraffin wax, but I’m stoked with how it looks!

First non-beef meal in as long as I can remember.

Roast chicken omelette with cheese (four eggs). Wasn’t bad, but I still don’t feel as satiated as I do after a 1kg ribeye haha
