Saving my files during a reinstall
What's the best way to preserve your files on a distro hop or a reinstall should i just grab my home directory or is there anything else i should copy over to make things easier for myself? Setting things back up

Has anyone got a rom of this available i cant find a working one anywhere.
I've seen people talk about it before but is there any good guides on how to?
I just accidentally deleted my /etc/runlevels and havent restarted the system yet. What can i do to fix this so i can reboot or do i just back up all i can and start for the best

Im running pacman -Syu i usually do and a handful of packages it gives the error:
"could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/"package"/desc: no such file or directory"
And it returns failed to prepare transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
What's the workaround for this i think its because i hadn't upgraded in a few weeks and the packages are changed but i might be wrong.
I set up a channel to stream through my jellyfin with my media library and tor some reason when its on its jumping my cpu usage from like 3% per core up to a whopping 97% as it says in htop. The only thing ive found thats a sort of fix is changing the FFmpeg profile to use a 2 thread count which calms it down closer to a 50% after 10 or 20 minutes. How can i sustainability run the channel without it taking up the entire cpu? Im running it through docker on debian.

I need a good cpu and gpu combo for the new AM5 motherboard ive been gifted its a Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX. I was originally planning on an AM4 build so i can afford 32 GB of ram but ill probably be capped at 16gb over 2x8gb until the price comes down. Im looking for it to be as budget friendly as possible. And the GPU is going to need to be intel or AMD because i use virtual machines alot and a nvidia wont work well with linux.
To start i cant go to check these fixes immediately its not my computer its my friends who i will have to see to fix it i just want ideas of what the issue could be
While doing large changes of the screen like panning the camera across the room in a game there is a water like ripple in the middle of the screen. They have a 4060 and are only playing the sims but they said their monitor is old which immediately made me think they have the hertz setting wrong which i suggested and i haven't heard back but is there any other causes for this problem? I'm not sure if it is the refresh rate or if its another problem but i think it occurs in video too so what would this be?
I just flashed my x230t correctly from what it seems and its not booting what's the general next checks to discover the problem? its currently powering on as in the light comes on but instantly dies and doesn't post its been tested with 2 different roms and the chips don't look damaged. No apparent damage of the mainboard at all but its still not booting correctly? Tested with canoe boot too and nothings worked.
I just made an encrypted arch install (even copied step into a text file for if i needed to redo it when replacing drives or inevitable failures) and i go to boot and it drops me in an emergency kernel saying device uuid (my device) is not found its an mbr and it comes up along side a mount error saying /new_root cant find uuid=drive. I can chroot in from my iso but how can i fix it. Im posting here as i installed it with openrc so could it potentially be my initramfs? I alot of issues with it and to get the encrypt hook into the mkinitcpio i had to comment out the line in one of the configs where it creates a rules file (dm-11 i think)
