Econ difficulty

How difficult is Econ major? I’m from a pretty rural place so the highest math I’ve taken is AP stats and Ap Pre calc and my math act was only a 32.

How do I maintain a high GPA for bank recruiting?

Chance southern kid with mid ECs for+where to ED

Rising Senior

Academics : 4.0 unweighted, 33 act, 3 in ap lang 😔 4 in ap pre calc, 5 in Apush (will take gov, lit, and stats) and a lot of community college classes (most business)

Only 6 APs total but it’s pretty rigorous considering my rural/fringe school only ap I’m not taking is Bio

Hooks: rural, first gen, immigrant

ECs (mid):
1.) Working at my parents business- do a lot of work from cashier to fry cook to waiter. Big time commitment (\~15 hours a week during school nights and \~50 a week during breaks)

2.) BPA- Do a lot of volunteering work that comes with the club, fundraising, and went to 2 competitions so far with both placing first in state in finance/business related. Went to nationals once (didn’t place so well \~top 30)

3.) Pokemon business- networked with a ton of people to allocate products, scaled to mid 5 figures. Do a lot of research (\~1 hour daily) to check market conditions and potential buys, over 50+ 5 star reviews across multiple platforms

4.) Investing- Introduced parents and friends to numerous types of accounts. Helped me and my parents maintain a 13% annualized growth. Hosted a school wide investment competition that saw about 50 people participate (unofficial, it was more like a word by mouth thing). Led to about 10 people making real stock accounts which I helped set up. Analyze market every day for at least an hour

5.) Set up a shop at my parents business sourcing products from China that coincides with trends (squishier as of now) earning extra low 4 figures.

6.) Asian plant farming?? I plant and take care of oriental vegetables and flowers that me and my families like to eat and look at (ong choy Ifykyk+ other plants)

7.) General family duties, taking care of sister and grandma, giving rides to school/dentist/hospital

8.) general volunteering at hospital, community market, school 100+ hours

I will be wanting to major in finance and hopefully find a job in investment banking

For reference the average act at my school is a 18.5

Do I have chance at ED Dartmouth? If not give other suggestions

Recruitment at LACS?

How is recruiting at LACS? I’ve been hearing that most hires to IBs are nepos and/or in sports. How disadvantaged am I if I don’t do traditional sports and don’t have previous connections?

Also please suggest some good LACS for me to apply to

School list:
Cornell
Middlebury
Boston college
Claremont McKenna
Duke
NYU
Northwestern
UT Austin (mccombs) oos
U Mich
Notre Dame
U of South Cali
UVA
Vanderbilt
Washu

Looking for recommendations on what schools to Ed/ED2/EA to + more schools for banking

Thanks for reading, i understand my ECs are pretty mid but i come from a pretty rural school/ town so the opportunities are limited. Even my act score is considered really high even though it seems low to the best colleges

Any advice welcome! Thank you

College Essay Help

I’ve read a lot of my friends personal statements and most of them have a paragraph introducing a specific topic, ie chess then transition into something like “math or science has always been my favorite subject.”

Do personal statements always need to dive into some sort of academic field?

Also relate my essay idea
I want to talk about my battle against flies. Working at my restaurants place, I always deal with a few annoying flies. Even when I go out they seem to follow me and I can never seem to swat them away.

Just a dumb idea, I’m. It sure how I can transition this into something meaningful

What schools for Finance give the best ED boost

Saw a video from Ivy_roadmap that said schools such as Uchicago would literally call students for them to switch into ED in order to improve yield rate.

What other schools like this? Especially ones with a good finance or economic major for high finance

Any school including LACs are welcome!

33 Act from Oklahoma

I have a 33.33 (need one more for a 34) and I am wondering if this score is competitive anywhere like HYP for finance. I can likely get that 34 but in case I can’t how do I fend? Also 33 is pretty impressive from my school.

Affect or Effect

Which one was it for form J04? I forgot

Affect was no change and Effect was the 4th option I think

31 act 🤦‍♂️👥

Hey I’m from Oklahoma and I have a 31 but need one more point for a 32. I’m a first generation high school student but not necessarily low income. Should I submit my scores to top LACS such as Middlebury or Claremont McKenna and schools such as NYU and Boston college or go test optional.

Btw I want to do finance

A 31 is pretty high for my school where an average is about 18.5

Should I Go Test Optional

I am from Oklahoma and I have a 31. I need one more point to bring me up to a 32. I was wondering if schools such as Middlebury will take my geography into account or should I apply TO. I am currently taking all the APs my school offers and still have a 4.0
