if the show ever does return it has to abandon the episodic format if it wants survive and thrive whether you like it or not.

alot of people in this fandom dont want doctor who to abandon the episodic format because them that what make it Doctor Who or its because thats the version of the show they grew up.

Personally, I think they need to abandon the episodic format.

the episodic format is dead almost no good show uses it and go for a low episode count serialized approach.

while doctor who cant do that since shows dont go on for 12 or more episodes unless its network tv maybe.

and when doctor who tried to do 8 episodes while still retaining the episodic format and we all saw how that fucking went.

They should just have the seasons be 3 to 5 episodes and have it all be serialized.

and before you say that wouldnt work. actually we already know it would how so.

torchwood: children of earth.

its shows a serialised Doctor Who who can work with the execution. i know alot of people dont like the idea of a serialized approach for the show but we have to do it if we want it to evolve and thrive. The show is literally about change and the fanbases refused to embrace change not even just bad change good change that will help it.

i love the episodic nature of the show, but if we want it to thrive in this era of television, we have to do it

and in a way it harkens back to the Classic Who serials which is very simialr to how modern tv works just in Classic Who's case they did multiple sets of episodes in one season instead of just a season with only 8 episodes.

its time for the shows format to regenerate just like the doctor does.

i really hate how most animation reviewers talk about animation.

Basically what the title says.

i really fucking hate how most animation reviewers talk about how animation is cinema and how animation isnt just for kids and that it can be for adults.

yet the only thing these wussies talk about is kids media and when they do talk about adult media they go all scandalous and treat it as fucking weird.

like for example, Sabersparks review on adult media

most of his reviews are about kids media, and he overglazes them to the point where he considers them examples of animation is cinema yeah bud bluey [while I love it] is not the highpoint of animation and when he does talk about good adult animation like Heavy Traffic he get so scandalized by it and gives a very bad review because of him not understanding the film. and being a scandalized media illiterate fool.

most cartoon reviewers are like this media hunter, Saberspark, bulbasquritle, and thousands of others who only watch kids media and pretend that's the best there ever gonna get.

no im not saying that piece of media for kids means its bad or that all of it is slop i love Batman: The Animated Series and think is the definitive take on batman and I love scooby doo: On Zombie Island and its one of my favovrite horror movies ever and thats for kids also[yeah i admit atleast.]

but guess what unlike these clowns i watch more media than just kids media.

like for example, one of my favorite animated movies is when the wind blows, which is a haunting animated film about the dangers of nuclear war through the eyes of an elderly couple talking about themes of futility and government failure but these clowns would never review that because they're manchildren and if they did they would do a crappy surface-level review of it.

i also like Spawn: The Animated Series for its themes and its voice acting and great animation [sidenote: for people who have problems with Invincible on this sub, watch that for one thing, the animation quality is consistently good.]

Same goes for the people who overglaze avatar. talking about how deep it is and how its so adult!!! Yes, Avatar is a good show but its still a show for kids, but you know some other good animated media that's for adult you could watch? Blue Eye Samurai, Savengers Reign, pantheon animated media thats for adults and very good and does stuff Avatar wasn't allowed to, and i bet you will love it.

These people hate media that actually make them think and "grow up" and dont want to diversify their taste and refuse to grow up and so stay inside there comfort zone and go on and on and on about how animation, yet the only examples they can list are shit like the illumianation mario movie.

Instead of mentioning pieces of media like.

  • Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi:
  • American Goat By the Goat Ralph Bakshi
  • Fantastic Planet by René Laloux
  • when the wind blows by Jimmy Murkami[based off a Graphic novel by Legend Raymon Briggs.]
  • Mad god by Phill Tibbet.
  • Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade by Mamoru Oishi and Hiroyuki Okiura.
  • Memoir of a Snail by Adam Eliot.
  • Mary and Max also by Adam Elliot.
  • Seoul Station by Yeon-San-Ho .
  • Maquia: The Promised Flower Blooms by Mari Odaka [this movie made me cry btw dont know why im mentioning that just movies rarely make me cry.]
  • The Sky Crawlers by Mamoru Oshii.

but instead of mentioning any of those examples, they just focus on mainstream kids media and get all scandalized at adult animation having violent and sexual content, newslfash dipwads, that's the real world, GROW UP!!.

all it does is just reinforce that the "animation is for kids" stigma is something they claim they want to subvert. i dont want to sound like a dick but this is something that's tiring me and is something that needs fixing.

btw sorry if this post is scatteredbrained i am poor at explaining things [though i like to think im better than most animation reviewers.] and its why i prefer to lurk and comment on this subreddit than make post on this sub.

me after hearing todays news.

I want to be optimistic but I'm not gonna be a naive dumbass either. Anyway, I'm gonna rewatch my Doctor Who DVDs [I'm pro-physical media.] re-listing to alot of big finish stuff and find some good fanworks actually would like some recs on some good fanworks, actually.

u/GreenPerception512 — 26 days ago

what are your thoughts on superman: the Phantom zone[[2009] after all these years.

personally i think it really holds up love the balance they found between the more traditional wacky superman elements and a more grounded tone[like metello for example, being originally just a man in armor before Superman melded his armor a bit to where hes now permanently fused to it or Parasite still having his absorption ablities but now needing blood in order to use them or toyman being a terroist with a gimmick and child killer who in his mind think what he does is okay because he's going after rotten children.] the voice acting and soundtrack is great and the gameplay is still fire 8 out of 10.

uj/this post didnt do well on Batman Arkham, so I'm trying again on this subreddit.

I hate how shallow and nostalgia Baity most video game adaptations of the 2020s are.

[warning:im making this post on a whim so sorry if its scatter brained and also this was supposed to go up on Sunday so sorry about how lazy it is.]

so i watched a video by Movies with Mark called the emptiness of 2020 video game movies and while I have been thinking about it for awhile his video really made me start to think about it on a deeper level.

i really hate how shallow a majority of the 2020s video game adaptations have been.

dont get me wrong, there's an improvement over the video game adaptations of the 90s and 2000s in the adaptation department since they visually look like the games atleast and theres been some good video game adaptations, but that's it.

The FNAF movies.

The illumination super mario bros.

the Jack black minecraft movie.

Even the devil may cry 2025 show in a way.

all of them are not good pieces of media on their own and are meh adaptations.

The FNAF movies are terrible with a generic plot [admittedly the plot of the games is convoluted but i bet there was a way to make a good story out of the games without being convoluted af.] have a boring protagonist in Mike with Abby just being a generic kid character with the rest of the cast being boring af too. The only saving grace i the beautiful animations by the Jim Henson Creature Shop but even thats just superficial accuracy.

then Minecraft is even worse with their non-existent plot thats only fueled by game references, which the hardcore consumer fanbase eats up because they hate actual good stuff and while they keep characters like the piglin army and chicken jocky all accurate they look all creepy as fuck and instead of redesigning them to look better or fit better in a realistic setting, they keep them the same becuase it would upset the toxic fanboys and in turn look shitty and With boring forgettable main characters like Steve, Garrett and Henry all you get is a shitty kids film thats slop when kids deserve better than minecraft.

Do I even need to mention the Illumination Super Mario Bros. movie? There also just slop, that's overly safe and hollow, enjoyed only by hardcore game consumers and children, despite children deserving better, and think shallow, poorly done references to the games subsitute an actual good story when it doesent.

Devil May Cry tries to excuse its shitty changes by being superficially true to games like Dante, Vergil, Lady, Arius, basically all the game characters looking[visually] generally pretty accurate, the ocasional easter egg isntead of actually being faithful, and again think nostalgia baity video game references [especially the meme references.] make the changes work better when it doesn't and doesent make the new story they did make any better, it still fucking sucks.

and before you say "well minecraft and Mario don't have much of a story," well, Iron Lung, Exit 8, and Classic Megaman have very loose plots and only lore yet the protomen albums, Markipillers Iron lung adaptation, and Genki Kawamura and Kentaro Hirase's Exit 8 adaptation made something beautiful out of very little theres no excuse for the Mario and Minecraft movies they just fucking suck and in the fnafs movies case due to having to dumb down the very convulated plot for fnaf just made slop that priortized shoe horned in your face references to the games and nothing more.

the best video game adaptation like Castlevania seasons 1 & 2 [for all its flaws.]Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the Fallout TV show, arcane, the Protomen albums, Iron Lung, Exit 8, Arcane, is that they focused on being good first. video game adaptations second yet the mario movies, the FNAF films, the Minecraft movie and Devil May Cry 2025 focused more on being superficially accurate and making shallow, poorly done video game references than making a good story.

the worst part is the shallow fans who, if you give any type of critiscms towards said adaptations, they say "its for the fans" when it should be good for new viewers too and get them interested in the source material and not be turned away by it or say some things are dumb fun when dumb fun movies should actually be fun instead of slop.

or in the case of the 2025 Devil May Cry fans, they will say you hate change when really, I and many other fans just hate bad change or shallow game accuracy.

What do you all think? persoanlly i think it's a problem that needs solving.

how i would do a new goosebumps show.

[note: I'm not saying this is how they should do a new Goosebumps show, but this is what I would love to see.]

So, after I watched the 2023 show [thought season 1 for all its faults was good, haven't seen season 2], I asked myself how I would do a new Goosebumps show. I thought about it for a while, and now I have decided to share it.

So this is how I would do a new Goosebumps show. I hope you like this pitch. If you don't, that's fine, but anyway, first things first.

  • Tone: I would want a tone thats moodier and angstier but still having plenty of cheesy and goofy elements. it kinda depends on the episode too some are goofy goosebumbs cheese some are suepr fucking dark some are in between, etc.
  • Target audience: for older kids [11-14], though it can be enjoyed by almost everyone.
  • episode count: 9.
  • structure: it would be back to being an anthology with the first and last of the season being an adaptation of a classic Goosebumps book, with the rest ranging from doing original stories to adapting the Goosebumps 2000 books to adapting the most wanted books, etc.
  • Inspirations: From[MGM+] in term of the cinematography and how the monsters/villains are redesigned[or designed in case for the original ones.] the RTD1 era of Doctor Who in terms of how the show is approached, the original Goosebumps[obviously], Goosebumps 2000, Goosebumps Most Wanted, Jordon Peele horror films like Nope and us in terms of how the horror and humor is balanced [though horror and humor itself is a bit different.]
  • Budget: gonna go for a relatively smaller budget, the overall budget would be 45 million, with episodes 1 to 7 being 5 million each, with the last episode being 10 million.

Stories that would be adapted for seasons 1-3. [to make things simpler.]

Season 1:

  • Welcome to dead house.
  • Creature teacher.
  • I am your evil twin.
  • the haunter.
  • episode 5-7: original stories.
  • night of the Living Dummy 1[ yes, the one with Mr. Wood.]

Season 2:

  • Cuccko clock of doom.
  • Earth geeks must die!.
  • The werewolf in the living room.
  • A nightmare on clown street.
  • episodes 5-7: original stories.
  • Night of the Living Dummy 2[where Slappy is the villain proper.]

Season 3:

  • Werewolf of Fever Swamp.
  • Revenge R Us.
  • Jekyll and Heidi.
  • How I met my monster.
  • episode 5-7: original stories.
  • welcome to horrorland.

The reason why there would be 3 original stories each season is because i dont want it to be just the 90s show again, I want to give it a different feel and have its own identity while still being a proper Goosebumps show with me also adapting Goosebumps stories from other Goosebumps series like Goosebumps 2000 and Goosebumps Most Wanted to also help give it a different feel. keeping the adaptations of classic Goosebump stories to a minimum to make it not a knockoff of the OG Show.

For how I would adapt some of the stories, I haven't thought too much about though I have thought of some ideas. >!Like for Werewolf of Fever Swamp, I would have Cassie O'Rourke, a character that was omitted from the 90s show adaptation, being the werewolf and not Will, with their characters being combined, or for Dead House, only Josh and Amanda being a little older and are the only ones of the Bensons to survive with their parents, Mr and Mrs Benson being killed or making Night of the Living Dead 1 and 2 more distinct from each other for examples !<

so yeah this would be how I would do a new Goosebumps show, how you would do a new Goosebumps show?.
