Concerned they're doing another Kryta-style ethnic washing

Remember how between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2, they completely white-washed Kryta and removed all the unique culture and environment the land had because they figured people wouldn't want to play non-white people?

Well I think they might do something even worse this time. Everything we knew about Orr before pointed to it being a Middle Eastern, Semitic sort of place. It had Viziers, and all the naming conventions were taken from Arabic, Hebrew, etc.

So far, we've heard talk of "the Vael", and the only guild mentioned is the "Mavenwrights"? That really doesn't sound like anything from old Orr, sounds supremely generic.

As for the people we've seen so far. Some were black, some white, some asian, it's like downtown LA not some mystical ancient land. I'm very worried there will be nothing Orrian about Orr, and that the other regions will be like that too.

The Classic role queue is brilliant and needs to make it to Modern

One of the biggest problems I have in League is the fact I want to play too many champs and too many roles. I love playing Top, Jungle, Support and Mid, and have several champions in each that I am a big fan of. But when I queue Ranked it just gives me the option of queueing for 2 roles or Autofill. Now you'd think Autofill would work, except I HATE playing Bot and perform terribly there, leaving me with having to pick just 2 roles and never getting to enjoy mid lane or support.

With League Classic you don't "pick" a role, you sort them in order from how much you want them. So I stack them Top > Jungle > Mid > Support > Bot and at least get Top, Jngl and Mid with decent regularity. It's not perfect and I rarely get Support but it's so much better than just being stuck playing two roles.

The absence of a rank system makes so many matches miserable

Because there are a whole bunch of ranked-brain players who use the absence of LP as an excuse to troll or stop trying to win at the first hurdle.

Many of my matches today saw lines like "it's just a for-fun game mode" and "who cares? it's not ranked" when the game starts going downhill. If it was just an excuse I'd understand but it tends to follow the players actually clearly trying less and making progressively worse plays and then convince themselves it doesn't matter.

It's insane to me how wired ranked players are to only care about "lp" and forget the actual game. Riot you have to give them their LP or it's gonna stay a bit miserable.

Launch is 1 day away. What's the state of the old voiceovers?

One of the biggest problems, and for me the currently biggest problem, is that all the champs have the new voiceovers even with the classic skins. I read somewhere from one of the devs that they are working on adding them, but will it be there for launch?

Something Riot could monetize are the various old versions of the splash art. Some versions were only seen in China for example but look sick.

They're already planning to sell completely new splash art we never had. Some I like, like the ones that simply redraw the old models, but some are more out of place like the Legends of Runeterra ones. The splash art shown here however would fit perfectly. Thoughts?

Riot remember that there are "Classic Textures" for champs that still use the same models!

Every single champ that still uses the same model today as they did in 2013 got a texture change. These changes all happened around 2014-15 when the map changed, and were done to have the models match with the map's new lightning and colors better. But of course in Classic, we have the Classic map, and so these changes should be reverted for Classic for the same reason.

Sometimes the textures were also significantly different, like for Cho'Gath, almost equating to a "Classic skin".

Currently all the Classic skins do actually use the earliest textures. For example Evelynn had pretty big texture changes in 2014, and indeed her Classic model uses the older textures, so giving all the champs their old textures would work towards standardizing their appearances.

It's interesting that old Sion is basically the most sought-after champ in current Classic

This really surprised me about the Classic League PBE. I had a big interest in Classic Sion myself but thought it was niche, but basically every streamer who isn't an OTP went with Sion as one of their first champs to try.

A bunch of Youtubers also went with him as their first video. AP and AD Sion together get a lot of interest.

That made me wonder. Why is this the case? Sion was the first big VGU Riot did, It was also generally considered one of the most successful, replacing the ugly and broken Sion with a new shiny one. And yet everyone jumps to play the old. Does modern League just not have any champs like old Sion?

Even with a Classic skin, all champs use the modern voice lines

That's the current situation in the PBE. Really hoping it's just a bug but it affects all Classic skins.

Modern models by default is comically ridiculous.

"Classic" League is as much a visual phenomenon as it is a mechanical one. There is a good reason most would define the cut off point for "Classic" as 2014 when the map changed, which was the biggest visual shift. The old models, old splash art, old voice lines and the old VFX is almost as important to League Classic as old runes and old abilities.

Riot understood that they needed to bring back the old map by default for anyone to take it seriously as Classic, and they need to learn the same is true for models and VFX.

The crucial thing here is "by default", even if they are skins that everyone eventually unlocks, there will be many players who just don't bother to unlock them or equip them. So no matter what, you'll be seeing the jarring new models and VFX in all your matches.

Fed Sion 1v5s everyone under fountain? The clip might just show modern Sion because the player didn't care about skins. You step on a Teemo shroom? No big explosion, just a weird magical fart. It's just not it.

EDIT: Played a couple games on the PBE now and the effect of this is even worse than I thought. With everyone using the new models it really just feels like the modern game except with old abilities. Fiddlesticks ult looks the same but there is no fear, Mundo's W looks the same but there is no regeneration. It doesn't FEEL like a new mode or a different version, simply feels like the normal game but... off. I'm convinced this will not only repel old players, but confuse new players and put them off as well.

I started in 2020. When I see old footage sometimes the map is green and sometimes it's pink and brown like this. Why?

How do you think they will handle all the different Witcher 3 endings in Witcher 4?

So I've seen this question asked a few times before ever since the Witcher 4 announcement, and CD Projekt even made a little comment about it, but all those posts have just made me even more confused because it seems... everyone forgot just HOW MANY endings there were in Witcher 3.

Everyone just talks about what happens to Ciri as if that's the only ending. But mf Geralt ended up deciding the fates of several whole NATIONS. What decisions he makes completely changes the entire course of history. It decided whether Redania is a brutally oppressive pogrom kingdom, defeated by Nilfgaard, or a powerful modern state. He decides whether Nilfgaard conquers the north or whether it gets pushed back. He decides whether Skellige becomes war-like, peaceful, or a unified kingdom. And so much more.

This would result in so many different worlds where history is completely different, it would require any character from those places or talking about those places to have completely different dialogue basically. How are they gonna implement all that? And if not, which endings will they go with?

Why was Nunu, specifically, chosen for the Disco troll method?

So with League Classic coming back, I went and watched those old Disco Nunu troll videos (Disco Nunu probably isn't coming back since I doubt the punishment systems will be any less severe on Classic, but his old model is) and I was wondering what about old Nunu actually led to Disco Nunu? Why was he the only one inting it up in the disco?

Did they replace Riot customer support with AI?

Did anyone else experience a sharp decline in customer support quality recently? I've made a request recently where the person responding basically hallucinated fake information, completely missing the issue, and then just automatically closed the ticket.

All the responses also seem to talk in the same way and follow the exact same speech pattern.

I know that Blizzard for example genuinely did replace their customer support with AI, or at least also had a down turn in quality. Is this also the case here with Riot or did I just have an usually bad experience?

What's the current ruling on playing on alts while your main is temporarily suspended?

There have been some threads about this before and the consensus was that it was allowed. But the oldest post about it is 2 years old and in that time they introduced that system that tracks who owns the account. so what's the ruling on it now? I was banned for 3 days for using some... colorful euphemisms, but I intend to just jump on an alt to keep practicing Teemo.

How come builds don't recommend Hextech Rocketbelt anymore?

So I'm trying to play Evelynn again and I noticed her builds don't recommend Hextech Rocketbelt anymore in favor of Lich Bane, so I figured Riot must have removed Hextech Rocketbelt from the game. But no, it's still there, and it's still as crucial to Evelynn as ever, to the point she doesn't even feel like a real champion if she doesn't have it.

I mean I get the Health isn't very useful, but come on, you W on some guy and he just starts walking away from you, aside from flashing into him there is just actually no way you can get close enough to Q him without breaking your stealth. The Rocketbelt dash is your entire existence in these situations, enabling a charm into a burst into R getaway that can shut down the squishy champions without getting you killed.

I tried a couple games with Lich Bane and while my damage is hypothetically higher, I can't actually get close enough to anyone for it to matter, if I break my stealth I often get CC'd and deleted long before I can burst anybody. Is there something I'm missing with the Rocketbelt-free gameplay?

EDIT: After reading some of the comments and trying out the strats, it seems her playstyle as an anti-frontline instead of anti-backline does actually work pretty well. If you use W as an ability to punish people instigating fights instead of instigating them yourself, it doesn't need the Hextech belt anymore, but is more team-reliant. That explains things.

I've never had a problem with Kayle. All my games against her are a stomp in my favor.

So can someone explain this to me? Garen is supposed to have a 45% winrate against Kayle and all I've heard is that she is a super hard counter and should always be banned. But I always preferred banning Urgot or Fiora and so get Kayle counter picks *constantly* and I basically always win my lane.

  1. She is ridiculously squishy early game so I can always bully her away from minions. If she gets too close I always find a way to set up a Q into a full E which often leads to a kill if she doesn't flash away. Killing her with ignite early is very easy.
  2. Her speed boost helps her run away but isn't enough to kite me. If I hit her with Stridebreaker she can't even run away. If I catch her and I'm ahead she tends to die.
  3. Her ult is countered by my Q, if I Q her before ulting, there is just nothing she can do.
  4. My W shields counters her pokes.

I always build Conqueror Garen instead of the speed one, and always build Berserker's Greaves first. I also play unranked with some abysmal players but at a high elo with some super sweaty Kayles who need to grind off ranked penalties or are trying to smurf. I assume that's the key? Unranked Kayles just have no idea what they're doing? I still find it strange since all other counters play out normally no matter the elo.

If you are an alien and need to convince a Space Marine or Guard army to work with you, what can you do?

How do you approach them? What would they respond to? Do they appreciate flattery? If you tell them you think humans are the best species ever, would they hear you out? Or is that more of an Eldar thing?
