I've been spoiled, and I don't know if the game is still worth playing

Hi,

I know that ff7 is a monument. A few hours ago, I typed "ff7" on the youtube search bar, and one of the suggestions was>!ff7 aerith death. !<

She seemed like an important character so I don't really know if I could still enjoy playing the game, considering how I pay attention to the story.

That's so frustrating... Any opinions ?

Can I have a sincere Christian faith without making it the priority of my life?

Hi,

I’m a Christian, but I’ve been going through a period of questioning.

I’ve gradually adopted a more progressive and critical view of Christianity, and I’ve found myself drawn to ideas such as universalism and annihilationism. Interestingly, I expected finding a form of Christianity that better matched my convictions to strengthen my faith, but it actually made me more aware of how many things I’m uncertain about, especially the problem of evil and suffering.

At this point, I believe in God and Jesus, take the Gospels seriously, and try to live according to Jesus’ teachings. But my faith is personal, critical, and not very practice-oriented. I don’t go to church every Sunday, I don’t pray very often, and I don’t currently feel that I want to make faith the absolute priority of my life.

There is also a social aspect to this. I still have contact with a church where people are kind to me, and I enjoy seeing them from time to time. But I don’t really feel the desire to become more involved. I’m not very close to most of the people there, and I sometimes feel uncomfortable with the idea that attending more regularly could gradually create expectations or obligations. I don’t want my faith to become something where I feel constantly expected to participate, attend events, pray together, or be more involved in the community. Sometimes they even message me to ask if I'm going to some activities, and I feel guilty to say no.

I’m also wondering whether part of this is simply comfort or even laziness. Maybe I genuinely don’t want to invest that much time in religion, and I’m trying to rationalize it through theological doubts.

At the same time, I don’t want to force myself to pray or become deeply involved in a church just to feel like a “good Christian” when that isn’t honestly where I am.

I sometimes feel guilty, as if I’m disappointing or even betraying God by not wanting to devote more of my life to Him.

Have any of you experienced something similar? Can you have a sincere Christian faith while being uncertain, not very practicing, and not wanting religion or church involvement to become the central priority of your life?

Integrating other philosophies in my Christian life

Hello I've always been interested by the buddhist philosophy, like meditation, conception of desires, and I'd like to gain control over my thoughts but I completely don't agree on the metaphysical (nirvana, reincarnation, buddhas, illuminated beings and so on). I'm just afraid that it would be "serving two masters" or a lack of loyalty to Jesus and the Christ has to offer ? Like it's "not enough to have a good life" ? Because buddhism is also associated to a religion and a faith

Anyway, let me know your thoughts !

How can I (M22) deal with my former best friend (M22) in suffering ?

Hi,

TLDR : One of my former best friends is currently in psychiatric hospital due to drug abuse, depression and (probably?) borderline personality. I think he is kinda toxic for me : his life choices and personality clearly don't match mines. He asked to see me again. I don't know what to do.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some outside perspectives because I’m really conflicted about this situation.

I had a best friend back in high school. We were extremely close, and he was an important person in my life. However, over the years, things changed a lot. He got involved with hard drugs, developed serious mental health issues (including bipolar disorder according to him), and had several suicide attempts.

I tried to support him when I could, by listening to him and giving him advice, but there were also things he did that made me uncomfortable. For example, he has asked me for money for things I found inappropriate (such as borrowing money for a date), he would sometimes criticize me without me asking for feedback, and he once told me he wanted to hit strangers in the street because they were looking at him in a certain way. We grew up and now, I think his personality and values are kinda toxic and don't match mine.

Recently, he reached out to me again. At first, he just asked how I was doing, then he asked if he could call me. I hesitated and didn’t answer because I felt stressed about the situation.

I later found out that he had been admitted to a psychiatric hospital and that he wants to meet me during his weekend leave.

My dilemma is this:

  • On the one hand, I feel like he is going through an extremely difficult time, and that a friend disappearing when he is struggling could feel like abandonment.
  • On the other hand, I honestly don’t really want to restart this friendship. I don’t feel comfortable meeting him, and part of me is afraid of how he might react if I say no.

I want to make it clear that I don’t think he is a bad person, and I don’t want to judge him because of his mental health problems. I have good memories of our friendship and I genuinely hope he gets better. But I don’t know if I’m being selfish by choosing to keep my distance.

So I’m wondering:

  • Do I have the right to say no even if he is going through a very difficult period?
  • How can I set boundaries without feeling like I’m abandoning someone who needs support?

My plan was to tell him that we are now too different and that I don't feel like reconnecting, even though I sincerely hope he'll get better.

Thanks for your advice.

Can't bear anymore some contradictions

Hello, I've been a Christian for several years and after the deconstruction of my traditional point of views, I've seen my faith struggling and slowing down. I felt like doing this drove me away from God, namely that I stopped praying regularly. However, I also think that progressive theology is a more accurate interpretation of God, so that wasn't a bad choice at all.

Jesus-Christ is to me, a model. He is inspiring me, I want to be like him and follow him. I like the how, but not the why. Actually, I struggle with basic questions of evil :

- Why should innocent people deal with the bad choice of Adam ? Why should we still pay the consequences ?

- Why suffering happens to innocent babies or righteous people (yes, everyone is a sinner, but some people do their absolute best to be righteous) ? Isn't that unfair to tell them to wait heaven because their resilience will be rewarded ?

- If we have to bear the consequences of the original sin, fine, our flesh is now corrupted. But why some people would receive salvation through Christ, and others won't, based on arbitrary criterias ? I get that on the one hand universalism exists and is a valid point of view, but on the other hand a lot of verses contradict it.

I'm not really expecting perfect answers, because skilled theologians throughout history couldn't deliver them. But I am now wondering, and it hurts to ask myself that : Do I really want to believe in that story, with such moral loopholes ? How can God assign us the responsibility to keep our faith unwavering until Jesus arrive when these issues exist ? And if he's the one providing spiritual resilience, why would he let some people leave their faith, knowing they're doomed ?

Thank you for reading and looking forward to know your feelings about that.

Hey, I'm an agnostic who converted to Christianity a few years ago. I live and grew up in an atheist environment. I've always had an uncomfortable feeling when I've been in youth groups. I mean, of course I love Jesus and it's normal to pray and to praise him, but I sometimes feel it's too much.

In the youth group camp, they prayed every two hours, I felt like nobody was really authentic because they all had that smile, that "hey I'm a good person" sticker on their face and with this atmosphere, I didn't feel I could really be myself. They are sometimes really devoted, and I have this weird feeling of "wait, I don't want to be in a sect". Some of them keep contacting me to ask why I don't come so regularly, which I think it's out of benevolence because they don't insist but yeah, it makes me uncomfortable.

For example, I don't have that feeling with my friends, some are religious and others non religious but are more carefree. Even outside these youth camps and in churches, I have this feeling that I can't really have deep conversations without it being reframed into Jesus (which again, is fine, but not every time)

So, I just wanted to your experience and your opinion about that. Thank you

It is a natural amino acid found in green tea and in high concentration pills it is supposed to lower anxiety. A lot of testimonies say that it was a gamechanger. What are your experiences with it?
