Baby not talking at 17 months

Baby at 17 months isn’t saying any words. He used to be able to say things like mama, baba around 11 months but it seems like it has completely stopped. We speak Chinese at home, live in the uk and sometimes he also goes to Canada (the French part) so he’s also exposed to French in social environment. Not sure if this makes any difference?

Baby bites me through my clothes

For some reason my 16 months started to go crazy about biting me through my clothes. I think he just likes the smell of it. How can I stop him from doing so? I’m bruised everywhere and it’s really painful and miserable

Cystitis and recurrence rate

My dad has NMIBC, and he’s been dealing with urine urgency frequency and VERY frequent night wakes for over half a year due to BCG induced cystitis. I had an email exchange today with a urologist consultant. In the reply he said:

————-
Most patients who experience BCG cystitis do not recur, even those with high grade disease. Besides, there are alternative Intravesical medications such as GemcitabineDocetaxel that can rescue about 60% of recurrences.

It is doubtful he will experience relief without the steroids and levofloxin I’ve recommended but, do what you wish. I’ve been treating patients with this situation for close to 30 years. High dose of presidonen steroid is the only reliable solution in my opinion. I doubt your current urologist has any real experience with this disorder.

Any thoughts?

Sleep association per

My dad’s going through bladder cancer BCG maintenance, but the side effects are killing him. AZO doesn’t seem to help. He’s now taking Solifenacin and Tamsulosin as prescribed by the doctor. One doctor thinks it’s BCG induced cystitis or interstitial cystitis. His symptoms are: as soon as he falls asleep, he starts wanting to pee, and wakes up to pee, and it’s like going into an endless loop, waking up 20 times per night, and making him so miserable. His urologist doesn’t seem to help and it usually takes 45 days to see him.

Anyone else has similar symptoms and what did your urologists say?

Immigrating to the UK

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or shared experiences. A few years ago I got married, moved to the UK on a spouse visa, and we have a new baby. My husband currently holds ILR, but his parents do not live in the UK either.

I am currently visiting my parents in my home country, and it has been incredibly tough. They are aging quickly, and I just found out my dad has been diagnosed with cancer. It's heartbreaking being so far away, and I want to find a way to be closer to them long-term.

To be plain, the current anti-immigrant political climate in the UK already makes me feel unwelcome, and from what I understand, the UK doesn't offer a straightforward family sponsorship program for parents like some other country does.

We are trying to figure out our next steps and are weighing a few options:

  1. Is there any realistic, legal route to bring my aging/sick parents to live with us in the UK?
  2. Do we need to pack up and move my family back to our home country?
  3. Should we consider moving to a third country like Ireland to make family reunification easier?
  4. Any insights, advice, or legal realities would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just wondering, I’m an anxious FTM. Baby at 16 months old (15 adjusted) is having such a hard time taking the 2nd nap in the last few days. His first nap is usually 1.5-2 hours, and the second nap takes AN HOUR AND HALF to put him down. And most of the days he doesn’t even take the 2nd nap, ended up with a 7 hour wake window between the nap and bedtime. Is this acceptable and healthy? Will it improve?

Wake up:6-7am ish

First nap: 10:30-11 (for an hour to 2 hours)

Second nap: sometimes missing, sometimes 4-5pm

Nighttime: used to be 8-9pm, and these days… 5:30 - 7pm because baby is missing the second nap
