I got this idea when I was purchasing gifts for a baby shower. Some of the most thought provoking experiences come from art/media- books, movies, etc. For example the video "Gift" which- don't want to spoil it for anyone in case you haven't watched it but also be ready to ugly cry (it has a happy real ending though)- promotes awareness about animal abandonment, or Charlotte's Web.

A few good books I've read are

Each school will differ but the one I reached out to said to contact the librarian who gave me guidelines for donating books. You can purchase secondhand books online in good condition for sustainability+saving money too!

Are there any books you guys recommend? The most effective books "show" instead of "tell."

Imagine having such a miserable existence and swimming in so much wealth that you pay $50,000 to kill a lion that was being tracked and researched by Oxford University, and loved by many.

I put the Beyond steak pieces in a skillet and coated with this Spanglish Carne Asada seasoning. Stir around, cook as directed, then taste it and see if you want to add lime (the seasoning has some lime in it already.) If so, squeeze 1/4-1/2 lime over it.

Then add whatever you want to crunchy shells/corn or flour tortillas. I like to melt Daiya cheddar cheese onto the crunchy shell or corn tortilla when I heat it up, then diced tomatoes, salsa, alternative milk plain yogurt, cilantro, and lettuce.

I wanted to try the Kinder Carne Asada seasoning but it was out of stock. I'd say the Spanglish one was decent, it definitely tasted like Carne Asada but it's more "smoky forward" - not very spicy.

My baby boy was recommended to go on a prescription urinary diet because his urine pH was 9. He's had an UTI once but no stones. I brought him in for the urinalysis because he was going in and out of litter boxes trying to pee for an hour before he finally did, but he's been fine since (and was completely fine before this random episode) so I don't know why he was suddenly having issues for a minute. I started him on the Royal Canin urinary SO calm food [2 cans wet + 3 tbsp dry] and I got the Royal Canin urinary treats, but I also want to give him other treats if possible for enrichment especially because Royal Canin only comes in 1 flavor.

Once he finishes Royal Canin I'll try transitioning him to the Purina urinary diet since it has more flavors but I just bought 4 cases for ~$300 and I can't return it because it's from a vet clinic halfway across the country [I recently moved]. I know TECHNICALLY these prescription urinary diets state no other food/treats is allowed because it might "disrupt the precise mineral balance" but practically, in real life, is that 100% true? Are there maybe some treats I should avoid that are high in minerals (they said to avoid bone broth specifically which I was giving him often because he has DJD and I thought it would help him)?

I want him to be a healthy and happy kitty but I don't want to deprive him of all treats if possible. Are Churus (or the Weruva low phos tube treats), freeze dried chicken/salmon/minnows etc okay? Also, does he have to be on a prescription urinary diet or would the over the counter Purina urinary food be okay? Every vet I talk to has a different opinion and it's really frustrating.

Rocky Mountain Farmers Union filed amicus against this at SCOTUS. Corporate megafarms want to steamroll independent farmers. This also enables federal overreach through foreign corporations as Smithsfield, the biggest pork producer in the U.S., is owned by China.

There's a clause in the House version called the Save Our Bacon Act (SOBA) that would override roughly 500 state agriculture laws — including CO's HB22-1343 (Prop 12-style cage-free + farrowing protections we passed in 2022). Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, the NFU state affiliate covering CO, filed against it at SCOTUS.

The House passed the Farm Bill 4/30 (224-200) and there's a section called the Save Our Bacon Act that nullifies ~500 state agriculture laws — including ones Coloradans passed by direct vote. Whatever you think about HB22-1343 specifically, the principle is: federal megafarm lobbyists wrote a bill to override state laws coast-to-coast, including in CO.

Sen. Bennet sits on Senate Ag and is in the room writing the Senate version of markup this month. Call 719-328-1100 — 60 seconds — "please strip the Save Our Bacon Act language from the Senate Farm Bill markup." Federalism cuts both ways.
