To the investors considering non-US *AND* non-Tech investments, I just wanted to point out, that this would not be a diversifying move, but a risk-concentrating one

(This is a redraw of an earlier but faulty comment of mine, which still managed to get 2 awards, thank you lovely people! :)

The number of yellow pixels in relation to the content of the red circle corresponds pretty much to the exposure you'd have with such a strategy in real: non-Us & non-tech leaves you pretty much with 20% of the world's non-tech firms (yellow).

If non-US & non-tech is your philosophy, though, by all means, just go for it. But know, that this is not where the music currently plays ;)

Maybe interesting for active traders: IBKR trading hours in CEST

Since many of you are with IBKR, I thought it might be helpful to share my guide, at what times of the Mitteleuropäische Sommerzeit you can actually trade your shares and ETFs.

"Ausserbörslicher Handel" (yellow) is offered for the American exchanges, apparently even almost closing the 2:00 am to 10:00 am gap (short of 10 minutes), but I have no experience in that latter. And for HK between 3:00 and 3:30 am.

Oh. And it's pure Excel, not AI. The 05:45 start in India were an additional complication ;)

If you have corrections/additions, just shoot!

Contains some wine (6 bottles at 0.75L) and mineral water (24 btl at 0.5L).

These times we sometimes just go to get some extra AC treat via car and their store ;)

Welches Finanzportal abonnieren?

Electricity & Grid Infrastructure ETFs

AI, EVs, heat pumps, data centers all are a thing these days, and all require massive amounts of electricity.

Someone has to manage and upgrade the grids transporting all that electricity, so I'd look at companies involved in electrical equipment, grid tech, power management, industrial electrification and transmission infrastructure.

What I ideally would want is an ETF containing Eaton, Schneider Electric, ABB, Prysmian, perhaps some raw powr plant generation like Siemens Energy and the like.

(Edited paragraph: Preferably denoted in USD, but listed in Ireland as I'm in Europe: however, in non-EU Switzerland, so not bound to UCITS.)

My reasearch tells me, what comes closest is probably the Nasdaq Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure Index (GRID or the Irish equivalent GRDU, IE000J80JTL1). Doesn't directly contain Siemens Energy, but its parent. And much more ofc.

What do you think about GRID? Do you perhaps know of a better alternative to cover the needs of the sectors mentioned in the first paragraph?

Naja, dann schau ich auch mal, was der Rösten-Konsens hierzu ist...

Eingangs-Bemerkungen: Ich rechne in Schweizer Franken (CHF).

Rebalanced several London-based ETFs in my portfolio; happy feelings :)

Bought these about a year ago. They've grown considerably, so I rebalanced them somewhat.

Despite being listed at the LSEETF, the values are in USD.

IBKR Ticker ISIN Bought Sold
BTEC IE00BYXG2H39 8,000 @ 6.04 3,000 @ 9.635
RBOT IE00BYZK4552 3,400 @ 14.158 1,200 @ 21.57
RENW IE00BK5BCH80 4,600 @ 10.29 2,000 @ 17.914
AIAI IE00BK5BCD43 2,100 @ 22.21 1,000 @ 40.48

Also sold all my MSFT and NVDA shares, but since they are not ETFs I omit the details here.

Now pondering where to insert the funds. But who am I kidding. Probably all into my MSCI World, I guess...

Just wanted to share my feel-good-moment :)

Lock in profits or sell?

I have some (partially overlapping) sector bets, purchased about a year ago.

It so happens that they're all nicely positive.

At this point of time, would you cash in on the profits, or even sell all of them? (I do not need the cash, have 14.1% of the portfolio in cash already.)

Grilled water melon with homemade ice cream

It was an experiment, so I didn't take pics. I will recreate it soon and provide them then :)

I decorated the lot with some fresh spearmint leaves.

If you try: use thick watermelon wedges (2–3 cm thick) in order to hold their shape on the grill. Mine were slightly too thin.

Oh, let them get some grill marks: it adds to the "Oooh" experience.)

Let cool for a minute before adding the ice cream, for... reasons ;)

A light drizzle of honey, or maple syrup might add to the taste, didn't try either, just some afterthoughts.

D-Mark vs Swiss francs concurrency

I guess, most Germans are more than happy now to have the Euro instead of the D-Mark, but I would have enjoyed to compare the D-Mark with the Swiss Franc personally on a daily basis. And I guess such existed indeed, when anecdotes from ancestors are to be taken literally :)

>The German mark had a reputation as one of the world's most stable currencies; this was based on the monetary policy of the Bundesbank. The policy was "hard" in relation to the policies of certain other central banks in Europe. The "hard" and "soft" was in respect to the aims of inflation and political interference. This policy was the foundation of the European Central Bank's present policy towards the euro.

Anyway, the Swiss thousander still exists :)

Request to the Mods

It would really (really) be helpful and useful, if you would enable pics in comments (as is the case in at least 98% of all subs now).

We could compare stuff. "Better" notes, worse quality, different styles, etc.

Not assuming it, but in case: If you need assistance on how to turn the feature on, just ask, am a mod myself. It's just one tick ;)

Respectfully,

--G
