If you’re running tablet, keep the screen faced away from the sun when you’re not scoring. This has been the only way to keep it from overheating in my area.
Top 25/54 in Carry Optics, from appendix. Definitely a fun match, but the range at Intrepid Defense is taking a “We are for competitive shooting and training” mindset.
Takeaways: aside from my own mental errors
- I felt like the old man on the squad, and I'm only 40. It was absolutely skewing younger, and likely attributed to Hunter's YouTube presence.
- Some really good shooters were there. US Army sent their marksman group.
- The plastic on the wall corners were really interesting to see and a clever idea. It worked really well.
- The double up stages put more pressure on me, as I need to make sure I had enough rounds for both. Both stages were pretty generous, requiring maybe one reload, but I'm new to PCSL, and usually shoot IDPA because of what's available around me. But still mistakes were made.
- I would be genuinely more interested if they did not up the weight limits, and I'd love to see what it would be like if everyone shot carry guns.
- My Echelon with the Mischief Machine grip mod, fell into the Defensive Practical, by .3 oz.
- It is a MUST SHOOT again!
The first Defensive PCSL Belt Championship! What a match! Aaand what a rough one for me. One bad stage really took me down from midway, but there was also a lot of really talented shooters. The full match. But the Echelon and Mischief Machine did their job, I just need to do mine.

North of 2k rounds at this point, and I’ve been running the echelon for a few months now. It’s been reliable so far. This is the non comped version with Mischief Machine grip mod. I’ve ran this with the Carey Concealment Bounty on Hunter Constantine’s Belt, and it’s been surprisingly comfortable for all day wear in matches.

This was The Monster Match, a charity match for a youth shooting team. Teaching proper safety, marksmanship, and being decent human beings. It was a great time. One stage I completely missed recording, they built a Scout AT-ST walker and you had to blast storm troopers from one window, and steel from another.
