Why do people think fantastical stuff doesn't count as trans representation?

For example, people don't view Cagliostro in Granblue Fantasy as a trans character because she uses magic to go from male to female, and she identifies as a woman and not a man. People act like something that involves magic or sci-fi can't count?

There’s no official rule book on what counts and doesn’t count as trans. I like realistic ground trans reps too, but it's also good to have fantastical trans stuff because it offers good escapism and more variety to us.

I received it last year from a friend who met her at a convention on the West Coast and was fortunate enough to get an autograph for me. I'm very happy to have a signed item from a Disgaea voice actor. Fingers crossed she shows up at a con in the East Coast soon!
