Anyone else find Oppenheimers shifts to 1.43:1 distracting?

Earlier this year I saw Oppenheimer for the first time at a 1.43:1 laser IMAX and found the cuts from the standard aspect ratio to 1.43:1 a bit jarring. I recently bought the Oppenheimer 4k disc and I even find the shifts from standard to 1.78:1(to fill the tv) a bit distracting. I love the film but I think Nolan might have over utilized IMAX? Or maybe it was on Jennifer Lame for doing so many cuts back to previous scenes just to show it. Anyone else feel this way?

Should I buy the 42 inch LG C6 OLED or the BRAVIA XR A90K?

I watch movies on a UB820 4k player and that is all I do. I watch my movies in a pitch black room.

The grain in this show looks so fucking good.

I recently started watching this absolute masterpiece of a series and something that’s a standout for me is the cinematography. The shot composition is beautiful and the grain is gorgeous.

THERE IS NO QUEUE ON SHOP APP FOR ODYSSEY FILM STRIPS!!!

MOVE FAST, DEFY THE GODS!

EDIT: I am NOT talking about the IMAX store page I am talking about the “Shop” app.

EDIT #2: I feel like Paul revere with how I’m spreading the word on this.

EDIT #3: I believe it has been patched because when I check shop app it now just links you to the queue. Congrats to everyone who got one.

What are some of the best looking tv shows on 4k?

When people on this sub ask what the best looking 4ks are I typically only see people answering movies so I started wondering what some visually stunning 4k discs there were of tv shows?

Please recommend me a 4k OLED monitor.

Looking for a monitor for my PC that I just built. I don’t play video games so I don’t care about refresh rates and things like that I just want it to look as good as possible.

EDIT:
Price range is $500-900
PC specs: 9070 XT, 32gb ddr4, and a Ryzen 9 5950X.
I should add that even though I do not play video games I got most of the parts for super cheap from a friend who just upgraded to an am5 board and bought a new gpu so that’s why the specs are pretty good. I have a bunch of 4k rips on my ssd I want to watch in high quality to have them look as good as possible so that’s why I’m asking about a 4K OLED.

Kill Bill TWBA might be my favorite Lionsgate Limited release. Even if the 4k disks aren’t great the Blu-Ray’s still are.

Anybody know if there will be film strips for Dune Part 3’s second weekend?

I just bought my tickets to go and Dune 3 in IMAX 70mm @ Cineplex Langley during its second weekend and was wondering if the film strip would be exclusive to those who bought tickets back in April for opening weekend.

Odds of getting a cancelled 7pm ticket today for Odyssey IMAX 70mm at LCQ?

I got to see the film yesterday at 2pm in IMAX 70mm and I would love to see it again before I leave NYC but the only screening that I can make today is the 7pm. Also will the mods be unpausing the discord? I’m unable to join and I heard people post about cancelling tickets in there.

How is the standby experience?

I’m hoping to potentially get into the taping of The View with Christopher Nolan but I don’t have any tickets. I heard there was a standby and that they have the no show tickets to the standby people. I was wondering what the odds are of getting in through standby?

Do you guys think Criterion will ever release a box set of Twin Peaks or Twin Peaks the Return?

I picked up the FWWM 4K today and it got me wondering if the Twin Peaks show has a shot of ever getting a physical criterion release.

Is a steelbook protector recommended?

Very very new to steelbook collecting, my very first one arrived today. I got the OBAA steelbook and I’m curious if I should be investing in plastic protectors to prevent scratches.
