seems that two of the boxes have the logos and one doesn’t! one of my coolest collection finds so far!
Super pumped! :D
for $40 a pop?? are you KIDDING me??? 🥺
got it for $500 and drove 9 hours round trip on a wednesday after work with my girlfriend:) tested out the SNES on S-Video and Xbox on composite - was blown away by the SNES & surprised how good Conker Live and Reloaded looked on composite. incredibly excited to see Link to the Past on RGB!!
saw this listed at $270 near me. i messaged him offering him $150 thinking that was fair, but i didn’t expect anything since it was such a steep price cut. to my surprise, he said yes! made sure to test it and everything. i don’t have the knowledge to do the proper testing for geometry or bleeding - but i’m super happy about it! :D
(plus other recent pick ups in an attempt to make this post not low effort:))
For those who care: I used to strictly collect 4K and Blu-rays. DVDs were off the table for me as the 480p picture quality bothered the shit out of me and I saw no point in owning them since blu ray and 4K exist. Over time I’ve learned to (slowly) take the stick out of my ass. some of my favorite shows are ONLY available on DVD, Futurama being one of them.
For those who don’t know: the first four volumes are only available on DVD, the rest being on blu ray (volume 5 being rare for some reason). last week I decided to bite the bullet with this collection and the blu-rays. I’m gawking over how beautiful it is. No other piece of physical media even compares to how good this looks.
TLDR: box is sexy
gruv is the goat when it comes to getting tv shows in high quality - i find that barnes and noble and any other physical media store lacks them, so it’s nice to see that gruv is stacked! always looking for tv shows to add to my NAS
Haul Questions:
i’ve only seen bits of face/off (from the Nostalgia Critic, if anyone remembers him)
EDIT: today, i found out that Battle Royale was, in fact, NOT directed by John Woo. oops.
(also had a post about how i got pre-orders for Falling Down and the whole bloody affair for free but mods took it down - super fucking pumped about that.)
Hi everyone! I’m here today to rank the best Barnes & Noble in the Twin Cities (MN). You might be asking… why B&N? Why not any other store in the area? The sad truth is that there aren’t many options after that. Half-Price Books and Cheapo Records are it; both of which pale in comparison to B&N’s supply.
In terms of collecting 4K Discs, Criterion, Arrow, and anime, Barnes & Noble is the premier place to collect physical media. I think you’ll be satisfied no matter which of these you go to.
*IMPORTANT*: don’t bother going to b&n for TV shows. they rarely have 4K content and all of their locations are lackluster in terms of the shows they have.
Maplewood Mall: The weakest of the bunch, but still has a nice variety, albeit small. It has a small selection of anime, a lot of the criterion collection, some arrow, a section of steelworks (approx. 15-20), and a nice selection of 4Ks.
Eden Prairie Mall: Very comparable to Maplewood Mall. Very similar selection of steelbooks, 4Ks, arrow, criterion, and anime.
Roseville (HarMar Mall): My personal favorite of the bunch. Very nice selection of brand new 4K transfers that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. On top of that, its criterion selection is impeccable. Spans about 2-3 bookshelves wide. Whole lot of Arrow Video stuff, too! Steelbook selection is comparable to Maplewood Mall and Eden Prairie. I’ll end this by saying that it has two back-to-back bookshelves of movies sorted by genre that I almost missed my first time there.
Mall of America: Objectively has the widest selection of criterion, arrow, anime, and almost everything else that you’ll be looking for. It’s a physical media paradise. i’ve spent hours checking out their selection, and even if i’ve left empty handed, I was still glad I went. (also no steelbook section but there are plenty of them hiding about)
Thanks for reading, yall! :D
currently trying to upload around 6tb of movies and tv shows to my NAS via ethernet. speed has never been an issue within my house and i’m trying to determine what is bottleneck is. both ports are cat 5e and im using the two ethernet cables that came with my nas.
