How in the world am I supposed to do even an early mission like ‘Unlikely Valentine’ when doing melee-only survival? (level 8)

Some of my OG Metal records

All original releases. Some of the jackets are a bit wore, but they all sound superb. Someone stole random records of mine a couple decades ago including all of the Mercyful Fate which breaks my heart to think about. But life goes on!

Random thrift shop pickup

Hadn’t heard of this band. They thanked Radio Birdman on the back cover so I picked it up. Kind of rowdy, punk-influenced tunes along the lines of The Replacements’ first album or any of the west coast, big beat kind of stuff that was everywhere in the mid 80’s.

My pothos is steadily losing her leaves

She has full healthy leaves at the base and also at the ends of each vine (not visible here) but she’s been losing all the leaves in the middle. Used to be very full. I keep her well watered, not too much I don’t think, and I gave her plant food this spring. What else can I do?

Got mine!

I was about to throw down somewhere around $80 for an original mono, but then saw that this was coming out and got my order in. Not sure when I’m going to play it, it feels like a huge deal to drop that needle the first time. Never actually have had this album on vinyl

The old ‘children of divorced parents’ statistics…

I’ve seen dads on here tell pre-divorce dads to keep sticking it out. Nothing is worse than divorce.

Then they will throw statistics at you: children of divorced parents are more likely to have trouble in school, do drugs, commit suicide… but guess what, they have no way of measuring a metric for children of parents who should have divorced, but didn’t.

And moreover, those statistics are for insurance companies. They know that out of 10,000 kids, this will be the case. But that doesn’t mean it’s your kids. Your kid isn’t “15% more likely” to do anything, your kid is one person who has a path in front of them, with complex influences and persona that no algorithm could come close to understanding.

Be there for them, stay cool with their mom as much as possible, love them with all your heart and teach them everything you know. And be the best person you can, keep growing, show your kids that life is amazing. And everything will be fine.

If you can get back with your wife and fall in love again that is amazing. But I firmly believe it’s worse to have a kid grow up watching the two adults it worships tear each other to pieces, than it is for that kid to see those two adults decide to move on, have happier lives, and be better parents for it.

Signed,
Someone whose parents were miserable together

(most of) the rest of the collection

I posted the second picture yesterday, thought I’d share the rest so y’all can see how the collection is rounded out.

The three on the left are the ones I’ve been playing the most over the past month. Third from left is a Squier CV Baritone Tele. The Strat is a ‘96 Mexi that I bought 30 years ago, more recently I put in a EMG David Gilmour faceplate/pickup set. On the far right is my Taylor Jumbo that I got for super cheap and then had fixed up proper.

Besides these 14 guitars, there is a 3/4 scale that my kid didn’t really get into, two classicals, and a steel string Mitchell acoustic that I got 35 years ago and is miraculously still in one piece after adventures you people might not believe.

Some of mine

The two guitars I’ve been playing the most recently aren’t in this picture - an SG Special Faded and a new-ish Epiphone Swingster - and there are others as well. I have a problem though. I want to cull my collection down to just a few higher end guitars, but all of these guitars have so much character and I love them all.

Roller bridge recommendation?

I got this Duesenberg Les Trem for my special faded and I’m over the moon with it… except that I keep breaking the high E string. There’s a lot of different roller bridges out there for consideration. Anyone have a recommendation?

Does anyone, ever, use the middle switch position using both humbuckers?

It just never sounds good. It’s one or the other, but never middle, right? I have an LP with P90’s and I definitely use the middle position to reduce noise when needed. But with humbuckers? Seriously does ANYONE IN THE WORLD

[EDIT] Getting a lot of good thoughts and examples here! Thanks all, I’m going to be more open minded now and for the rest of my life I swear

Recently started playing on Xbox

I have been playing on my phone since the game came out, on and off, and I frequently get annoyed by you know, the classic “Greedloft” behavior… but I recently started playing on my Xbox and it’s a ton of fun. Garage reset is quite liberating for some reason! I don’t care about anything, just playing MP2 mostly, having a blast with whatever car I feel like driving, not concerned with ranking or prizes or anything but having fun racing other players. Cheers

Here is my beloved special faded. Modded with a Duesenberg trem. Here also is an old JBJ Seymour Duncan humbucker that I’ve had for decades. Which pickup should I replace with it?

I love playing this thing solo at home and for that I’m usually on the neck pickup. When recording or jamming I’m more likely to use the bridge pickup. I tend to play clean or with light dirt. But sometimes I go full on metal. Anyone have one of these? Do you have an opinion as to which position would it sound best in?
