Having struggles playing deadlock on defense
TLDR: I want to know basic sentinel/deadlock tips and counters to things such as enemy’s util dumping and flooding the site im playing.
Hi everyone, I’m at Gold 3 (not hardstuck but slowly climbing) and a deadlock only player. I’ve just returned to the game and just wanting to play for fun, not a huge ranked grind but all I do play is ranked. My gun skill isn’t bad but probably not above diamond skill level.
The issue I’ve seen the most is playing defense on some maps I just can’t seem to defend floods onto site. There’s lots of util such as flashes, smokes and stuns and I’m unable to play off of my sensors and get the easy kills off them because there’s too much stuff going on
That brings up my sensors placement, my positioning, and playstyle of deadlock. I feel my sensors are in good positions mostly in spots right next to the main choke for flood, and the other at another entrance point or closer to me where an enemy can swing me and put me in a favorable position. I use my wall for other entrances to site or when there’s rush coming I block main. My positioning can always be improved as I’m gold but I usually like to sit behind the main cover or the site(pearl A site boxes, haven c site boxes), stuff like that. Whenever floods happen I get rushed so hard I can’t do anything, so do I play offsite? I’m not sure.
Another thing is that I watch a lot of boni and reedlock and try to play like them, I can’t do very well compared to them lmao.
Anyways the last things I want to ask is; I’m i playing deadlock wrong? Should my wall not be placed main on floods? Does she not stop pushes? Why are my teammates ass? Is she just someone who should be played more aggressively? What is some general sentinel things I should know?
I don’t have any clips right now but I can try to record some if you guys would like to see how I play.
