How much does wheelbase matter?

Curious to get people’s thought on this. I have a Crux 5 gravel bike with a wheelbase of 1057mm. Pretty long by CX standards. How much does having a shorter wheelbase matter for CX? For reference, the Trek Boone is 3cm shorter at 1028mm. Will the Boone perform better? Will the longer wheelbase slow you down through tight turns?

Bonus question, what about BB drop? The Crux 5 is 13mm lower (78 vs 65).

What's your perfect CX groupset?

Money no object, what groupset and gearing are you running? CX only bike, so you don't have to pick anything that can do road or gravel duty. Just a pure CX bike.

I'd probably go SRAM just for the E1 levers. Then 10-36t cassette and 44t chainring. That would give me all the gears I need.

Strava Live Segments - No other riders

I’m a premium Strava user and started loading in segments onto Karoo 2. The problem is that no other riders show up during the live segment. It’s just me. I don’t get the Wolf and Carrot or whatever Hammerhead calls it. Just my time and my indicator on the map. Any ideas?

BQ16 Won’t connect to internet after power loss

They did some maintenance on the power grid today and power was off for about 30 minutes. When it came back on, our BQ16 absolutely won’t connect to the internet.

We have a modem that is greens across the board, but the BQ16 has the red light. I’ve tried unplugging, rebooting through the app, even found an old WiFi router in the attic and that one works fine. Just seeing if there was another option before nuking the system and doing a factory reboot.

Climate360 Without Base

Can somebody confirm that the Climate360 mattress requires the adjustable base to function. As in, if I put the mattress on a different bed I lose the heating and cooling functions?

Edit: Can the base be placed on top of the bed slats or bunkie board?

Buying a Tarmac SL7 vs Crux 5 Do It All

Alright Specialized peeps, I own a Crux 5. Great bike. No regrets in buying it and it’s an absolute beast of a gravel race bike. But it’s my only bike. I used to race a ton but took some time off, almost 2 years. But I’ve decided to get back into racing, mostly Crits. So, I want to hear both sides.

  1. Keep the Crux 5 as my only bike. Run a road wheelset and tires for road races and crits. I’m running 1x13 right now, might need to change up the gearing a bit. How much am I missing out for crits?

  2. Buy a Tarmac SL7. Local one available as a frameset. Good price. Build it up with parts I have. I’d run 2x which I prefer for road. Backup bike if one has issues is nice. Going to feel better in crits I’m sure.

What would you guys do?

SRAM Red E1 Shifter Exploded Fluid

Doing a brake bleed like I've done 50 times, got to the point where you have the caliper closed and you push and pull on the syringe at the lever. As I was pushing down, the lever exploded fluid everywhere. At first I thought it was the syringe breaking or detaching from the lever, but it looks to be from the lever itself. It's toast right? What are the chances I can warranty it?

What to do with old parts/gear?

I have too much stuff. Spare parts like stems, handlebars, pedals. And gear like shoes, bibs, jerseys, arm warmers, toe covers. And some electronics like the previous Varia radar and a Garmin 530.

I don’t need or want it. But even listing it for sale is more hassle than it’s worth. And I don’t feel like packing, shipping, driving to the post office. How can I donate or give this stuff away so other people can use it? Local bike shop? Would they take donations like this?
