options in case of a cancelled flight

We're a family flying to JAX via JFK from Europe, and there is a reasonable chance that my JFK-JAX flight operated by Delta but booked through Virgin Atlantic, will be cancelled because of thunderstorms. What are our options at that point, other than sitting around hoping to be placed on a flight the next day?

pending transaction of €8 for nothing that I am aware I bought

I see that Eurostar intends to charge my bank account €8, but I have not done any transactions. Any idea what this could be?

Edit: issue solved. After talking with Eurostar and investigating a bit further, I realise there is a very banal reason for the confusion. I made a purchase from Euro Star, which is a grocery shop, and my transaction history showed that transaction as "Eurostar", complete with the Eurostar logo. Go figure.

Police rang my doorbell at 7am

Moved to Brussels recently, and got my residence card. A few weeks ago a policeman came to my apartment at 7pm in connection with my residence permit, and wanted to make sure I lived in it, asked how many people live in the place, who I work with, etc. Pretty standard up to now. But then at 7am today I got another policeman ringing my doorbell (I could see it was a policeman through my intercom camera), and when I said I would open in a couple of minutes he said there was no need, they were just checking that there was someone.

What's this all about?

Journey on 2nd July was cancelled and I wasn't notified by email

I noticed by chance. Please be aware that Eurostar seems to be having plenty of glitches at the moment.

Any regular commuter who hasn't had points added to their account?

If it helps, Etoile status, last 3 trips have not been added on. Of course I have filled in their online complaint form.

Travelling on the Eurostar with a Eurostar Plus ticket (and Carte Blanche Status) . What is the chance that I am allowed to hop on to the train which departs just before the one I am booked on?

Merging of finances?

Please don't attack, and only answer if you have been in this situation.

The Facts:

I am divorced with 2 18+ children for whom I and my ex husband pay University and accomodation fees.

My new husband is a widower and has 2 children, 16 and 18, for whom he also pays (much lower) education and accomodation fees. The younger kid lives at home.

We have a common account for our living expenses.

I earn about twice as much as my husband. We recently bought a house together, where we both put in 50% each.

The Question:

What is the wisest way to approach my/our finances from now on? Should we blend them completely, should we keep having separate accounts?

Much as I hope that we will remain together until one of us dies, I am not naive or young enough to bank on the fact that "a marriage is for life" - been there, and sometimes it's not. I want to take care of my kids, but I also want to take into account him and his kids too, because the 6 of us are one family.

Any experience with this type of situation is welcome.

Why are the tabloids allowed to publish lies and untruths?

Lies about current state of affairs, but also completely untrue statements and 'revelations' about the lives of celebrities.

I know the easy answer is "because the law allows them to", but why is this?

Cool ideas for this room

This room is just off the main bedroom and is currently used as a dressing room. I am looking to re-purpose it. What would you do with it? Dimensions are 3.75m x 1.77m.

Apologies for the bad quality of the photo, since it's a still from a video.
