8 month old can’t be soothed for MOTN wakes unless fed

8 month old with 3/3.5/4 wake windows. 2 naps that total 3 hours. Bedtime of 730pm and wakes 530-6am. Able to fall asleep independently at bedtime.

However, for MOTN wakes (usually around 12am and 4am), baby can’t be soothed unless fed. We pick baby up and rock to try to get baby asleep, but the crying continues and even escalates.
Even if we feed immediately, it still sometimes takes up to an hour to fall back asleep. I feel like our schedule is okay, so any idea why we’re having such issues with MOTN wakes? Thank you!

7.5 month old holds food in mouth and gets mad

7.5 month old has been on a mix of purées and BLW finger foods. Baby will eagerly put finger foods in mouth, somewhat overstuffing. But then can’t swallow and won’t spit it out either. Baby gets frustrated and cries until we either wash down with water if able, or if it’s something like peach skin or a mouthful of steamed zucchini or a small chunk of cucumber or melon (all given in the form factors recommended by Solid Starts), we have to fish it out because baby will keep crying, which I know is not ideal.

Does this mean baby isn’t ready for finger foods yet or should we limit the types of food we give?

Having #2 with high needs #1?

Always envisioned 2 kids, but #1 is really difficult and high needs. Clingy, big emotions, bad sleeper. Has always been that way compared to other babies. I’m terrified of having a second who’s the same.

Each day is exhausting but I can’t shake the feeling of wanting another. We have no family nearby or village, which adds to the struggle.

What helped you decide you were ready or not?

5-5:30am EMW. Shift bedtime later?

7 month old on 3/3/4. 2 naps totaling 3-3.5hrs
Bedtime 7-730pm. Used to wake 6-630am but now wakes 5-530am

Would shifting bedtime later help?

Also, baby goes to bed independently. Wakes once to feed. However, baby wakes always wakes one more time in the night. Usually 10-11pm and cries 30 mins before falling asleep again. Any idea how to minimize this?

7 month old change in preferences?

EBF 7 month old who gets one middle of night bottle by dad. For the past 2 weeks, he’s been nursing a lot more quickly (5-10 mins), which I’ve read happens as they’re older.
However, I always start him on the right and he drinks for a few mins then won’t relatch. He actively turns away. But then eagerly latches onto the left side. At any point during that nursing session, he won’t take the right.

For his bedtime feed, I was concerned he wasn’t full enough for bed so after breastfeeding as normal, I tried giving a bottle of 2oz of pumped breastmilk the last 2 nights and he guzzled it down.

Any idea what’s going on here? Thank you!!

6.5 month old - CIO - new 90min MOTN wakes

My newly sleep trained 6.5 month old was responding well and getting 6-8 hour stretches and 1 MOTN feed. Then we went away for 2 nights (same time zone) where we were more responsive since we were in a hotel, with naps on the go, and it all went haywire when we returned.

The past 2 nights, he's woken up 3-4 hours after bedtime. We're following 5/3/3 to feed him, and he'll just keep crying until he tires himself out after 60-90 mins. It's heartbreaking but we don't want to undo the progress we've made and start at square one.

Bed time is 7:30am, wake is 6:30am.

He's on 3 naps with 2/2.5/2.75/2.5-3 wake windows. How do I know if this is residual effect from traveling or if he needs to drop to 2 naps? or something else entirely? I can't bear another night of this much crying and it feels like something is off.

Van Leeuwen banana pudding ice cream - life changing

Available at scoop shops only but wow, really hoping they make it available as pints because it was absolutely amazing. No artificial banana flavor and chunks of nilla wafer cookies in every bite. Hands down my favorite banana ice cream, and I’m always on the hunt for a good one

Does anyone know how often scoop shop seasonal flavors are made into pints? Or if that’s even part of their process?

Takes 1hr to settle after MOTN feed

5.5 month old on a 2/2.5/2.5/3 schedule with 2.5-3hr total nap time. Bed time is 730pm. Wake is 630am.
Wakes to feed twice: at 12-1am and at 3-4am

Baby can fall asleep independently at bed time. Put down fully awake and falls asleep in under 5 mins.

But for MOTN feeds, baby will usually go back down fairly quickly after the first feed but takes 30mins to an hour(!) to settle back to bed after the second feed. Baby is literally full-on crying and thrashing while we’re holding and rocking him

Any tips?

How to reduce night feeds with CIO

5.5 month old on a 2/2.5/2.5/3 schedule with 2.5-3hr total nap time. Bed time is 730pm. Wake is 630am. We tried gentler ST methods like Ferber but the checkins just aggravated baby.

We’re on night 2 of CIO and saw significant progress with the bedtime put down. Night 1 was 30 mins. Night 2 was 12 mins.

However, the MOTN wakes are terrible still, and can’t tell if waking out of habit or hunger.
Bedtime 730pm
Dream feed of 2-3oz at 1030pm
Wakes around 1-2am. Have tried seeing if baby settles but ultimately does not and we’ll feed after 45-60mins
Wakes around 4-5am
Wakes for day 630am

How can we reduce the night feeds and wakes if baby won’t settle? Thank you!

Wake window before bed includes time to fall asleep?

If I’m aiming for a 3hr wake window before bed, but it takes baby 30mins to fall asleep independently as we’re sleep training, should I put him in his crib at 2h30 or 3h wake window?
