End user here. Why did this happen?

I received a used laptop from my sister.

It's an HP model number 15-dw2025cl

It's nothing great, but it does what I need it to do.

I did a factory reset when I got it, but a couple of times when I booted up, it didn't load my desktop, but a completely different setup, lower resolution, different taskbar stuff.

I shut down and restarted a couple of times, and got the same thing but then I received pop-ups advising me to backup my stuff to the Windows OneDrive and Microsoft 365.

I use Google Drive and a physical backup.

It even switched my mouse settings (I'm left-handed)

Anyway, I finally dismissed everything and restarted again.

Finally I got my own desktop back and my own settings.

Can someone please explain what is going on? Is this a heavy handed advertisement for Microsoft products?

My neighbor called me and told me about this little guy.

He was dumped in a field and a young lady found him and took him home. Her parents have a dog that just killed their other dog, so they weren't going to keep this pup.

They tried all the shelters and couldn't get a single call back. They were going to just drop him off at the first kill shelter they found.

I told my neighbor to bring him here.

Now I have three black dogs 😁

UPDATE: To those who are concerned about the condition of my home, thank you. I'm working on it.

I'm eating some MikeandIke and I said to myself, "Self, do you know what would be a great flavor for these?"

Myself replied, "No HP, what would be a great flavor?"

I said, "Soda pop flavors! Like the popular brands. Coca Cola, A&W, Fanta... Cheerwine, and you can't tell me that a Baja Blast Mountain Dew wouldn't be awesome."

Myself said, "Y'know, I think you're right!"

What do y'all think?
