We had an appointment for City Fibre to come to our property to install the external box today. The engineer came out and informed us that someone had already been round (we have been on holiday) and installed the box at a location we had no consultation of and didn’t agree to. We also share this property with 2 neighbours and no one in the property was consulted. Is this normal procedure from City Fibre? Even the engineer seemed surprised as he had it in his job to install the box today!

I have noticed during this World Cup, that there is a frequent camera pan to the crowd to highlight a “famous” person taking in the game. Normally this would be met by a “there he/she is” and a clever reference to a film / song by said famous person. However in this World Cup it’s quite clear the commentators have no clue who said person in the crowd is, I also think normally a producer might have a word in their ear normally but I think they might even be scrambling to name them. It leads to a rather awkward few seconds focusing on said famous person while the commentators stay silent.
We currently own a property in a location where the market has took a battering the last 10 years. We thought the storm had been weathered when we bought 5 years but have had a valuation and we have took a 10% hit on the price we purchased for.
Our re mortgage is coming up and we have been valued at £190k with £15k of equity. Our plan is to move city at the start of next year to a city that is far more buoyant in regard to property prices. Our thinking is that due to the market being slow where we currently are, and extremely competitive where we are moving, coupled with the fact we are unsure exactly where we will be moving too in this city as well as not wanting to be in a chain to make us more desirable to a buyer, we will completely sell our property and rent for 6-12 months while we decide where to go.
For this reason we are going to be going on to a variable tracker mortgage to avoid ERC. Our mortgage adviser has applied for a product that is consistent with our current term (28 years) but my thought is if we are selling in 6 months and won’t be making any dent in the capital would we not be better maxing out this term (40 years) bringing down the monthly payment and investing the difference for our next place?

I also have a degree, from LinkedIn the market looks pretty busy with roles being struggled to be filled, but I’m unsure what my chances of getting a gig would be coming over on an IEC visa.
I understand you need a P.Eng to work as an engineer but my understanding is that you don’t need this as a draftsman. Would getting my AsCT help?

Recently got into the podcast and have been working my way through the episodes.
One thing that I have noticed is how much skill Adam has as the host, the way he is able to weave in Dave and Charlie for the same amount of balanced air time, let them speak and keep the momentum going is better than 99% of other rabbling podcasts talking over each other.
For me he has the podcast hosting panache and guile of a prime Sergio Busquests, talented in his own right but lifting others and letting them shine, for me it’s a real breath of fresh air, fair play.
