WIBTA if I don't help plan my sisters baby shower?

My sister and I have always been close, only 14 months apart in age and relatively similar personalities (until recently).

I'm currently planning my wedding for early next year (yay) after going through quite a bit in the last year (court cases, surgeries & injuries) we're finally on the last couple of months prior to the big day.

My sister has just announced her pregnancy, which I am incredibly happy for her and wish her a happy healthy baby; she's due a month before my wedding. So, odds are - she won't be coming (childfree wedding, babies are not invited), that's fine, I understand baby is priority. In them becoming pregnant, they've also gotten engaged and are planning on getting married next month or month after.

But now, her friend has reached out and asked for us to start planning her baby shower for in between her wedding and mine. I'm feeling overwhelmed about the fact that I'm coming in to the crunch time of organising my wedding, I work full time (8am-7pm), my partner is chronically injured so unable to do a lot and is constantly in tears / depression from pain - I'm so freaking overwhelmed that I really want to say no to helping plan her baby shower.

I had told her previous to her getting pregnant that I wouldn't be planning one and she can ask her friends to do that, and she literally told her friend I had mentioned that I wanted to help plan.

Like, honestly, I'm trying to not feel like she's 'stolen my thunder' in a sense but what the actual, I feel like she is trying to get me to just redirect all focus onto her and hope my wedding is crappy.

Babies you can't plan, I totally get that. But she knew I didn't (and don't) have the capacity to help and literally stated I VOLUNTEERED when I explicitly said the opposite.

And because I know it'll get asked - I do wish I had a chance to have a huge life milestone be for me, and to have the time and excitement leading into it, but now it's removed. I honestly feel like just cancelling the wedding, moving away and cutting the family off. I'm so exhausted with life.

I want to help because I want to be a good sister but FFS, I feel like I'm drawing from the driest well and no one could care any less.

Really, the first photo on the carousel?!

1.3m followers and the first photo in the carousel is of her naked child. Mother of the year.

Veil - yay or nay?

I’m really torn as to whether this veil looks good. I feel in love with another but was far more expensive & the sales associate was pushy AF and rude so not willing to give them my money, lol.

Groom Gift?

My FH and I are getting married in April of next year (yay!) and I've been thinking of potential gifts for him on the morning of.

I've seen a lot of people gift watches, jewellery, etc., but wondering what people think about gifting an album from a boudoir shoot? Do you think this would be inappropriate / too expensive?

For context, I've been quoted around 5k (AUD) which would include wardrobe, hair and make up on the day of shoot. We're hoping to keep our wedding under 20K but I'm considering this a gift that I would be purchasing rather than coming from our wedding budget / joint accounts.

The final 2 - please help

Mainly tossing up between 1 & 3 but 2 throws a spanner also!

3 is over budget without alterations, and the veil is another $600 on top too. This dress has a slit that I would want put together which is throwing me hard because it’s a semi- structural change and what if it wholly changes the dress?? So it’s an over budget dress with a chance the alterations could stuff it.

1 is under budget, needs barely any alterations (mainly just tailored to my body & size) and could get the veil from #3 and still be under budget.

But the child will steal my spotlight!!

Yes, you’re a bridezilla if you’re kicking it over a literal child wearing a floral white dress to your wedding. Especially when you state you’re worried the child will steal the spotlight.

The ‘same’ 24hrs

Just saw a story from a woman I know that literally stated “I’m so sorry to anyone who heard me say as a childless 20yro that everyone has the same 24 hours.
Working on building businesses from a hospital bed (child’s name is fine) is humbling. Mums, we are GOAT”

Nah dog, we absolutely do get the same 24hrs. It’s literally a 24hr cycle across the entire planet - you’re just the idiot that didn’t realise children TAKE UP TIME.

Don’t propel yourself into altruism when all you’ve done is get ejaculated in and kept your fuck trophy alive.

Vow help

This is what I’ve got so far. Feels kind of generic and maybe not long enough? Would love advice!

Back story, I had just left a(n abusive 10 year) long relationship so my (now) fiance erred on the side of “not scaring me off” by saying he wanted to hook up

Floristry budget?

Have received 3x separate quotes for our flowers and just wanting to get some unbiased opinions.

Is this good pricing for what we’ve requested and, do you think this will be sufficient?

Our ceremony is in our local botanic gardens and reception at the local surf club. My main concern is the surf club not feeling enough like a wedding / looking beautiful enough; however, we are on a relatively tight (flower) budget.

Would love any and all advice!

Depressed AF

Does anyone else feel heavily depressed from all this wedding planning? (Vent coming) Of course it's meant to be the most magical time and filled with love and support but tbh I feel so fucking alone.

This has made me realise I have legitimately 5 friends, one being my step sister, and out of those five - shall we guess, how many are actually reaching out and checking in? None! I speak to my 'friends' maybe once every month or two and I'm always the one reaching out. Granted, they all have kids and I don't but seriously?? One of them even asked me to check in with her every few days when she was wedding planning, and I did, but she hasn't asked literally once how planning is going - absolutely nothing.

Going to trial dresses in a few days and wanna guess how many people are coming with me? None!! That's right!! Not a single person.

My bridesmaids (x3) have not asked absolutely anything, it's just 'whatever you think' when I ask for some assistance (2x of them are married).

What's the point? I thought I wanted a wedding but turns out, I'm lonely as all fuck and the only person that I actually can rely on, is my FH. And it isn't like he's really helping all the much with the planning either.

I'm at a point where I just want to sit down and cry and tell (the very fucking few) people to get fucked but I'm also like, well that's not going to help me make friends. I just feel very taken advantage of, feeling like I'm the 'obligation friend' (you know, the one no one likes but they keep them around because they do stuff for them) and just feeling so damn alone.
