Dark Dealings in the Blackpits bug DOS2 DE

I spoke to Paladin Thom when I first met him and told him I'd help them by investigating the Blackpits. After many long hours and multiple quests later, I finally got around to the Blackpits, cleared the place out, rescued Hannag's helper, saved all three Blackring captives, killed all the magisters, and cleared out the mines. When I returned to the bridgehead, they were immediately attacked by the assassins, but I killed them all, Thom just tells me "On your way, adventurer".

I checked the wiki and I apparently should have been given an owl whistle, but that's nowhere to be seen. It also says after the battle with the assassins, he should give me the money we agreed upon (which was just 100 gold) and more experience, but he says nothing.

I left to clear out the sawmill and brought Mummie Dearest's head back to him and he gave me experience for that, but he's still telling me to go away. Is there something I'm missing or did this just bug out?

Anyone ever figure out why we randomly get free items? [Discussion]

Loaded up the game to help a new player out and this was waiting for me. It's definitely not from old survey rewards, insurance, or collecting old twitch drops. Last time this was brought up a month or two ago, nobody had a concrete explanation as to why many people were getting free items. Lots of people claimed this was from backpack stacking, but considering the last time this happened, I received hundreds of items and had zero backpacks in my stash, that can't be it.

I switched over to PvP and had nothing waiting for me there, so I'm wondering if this is just a PvE thing.

Headshots definitely matter [Discussion]

Over the years I've had many people claim that the headshot bonus doesn't matter all that much in regards to experience accumulated during a raid. This is my latest Icebreaker raid where I didn't even make it to the chained door.

Sanitar + guards, Knight, 11 Rogues, 18 Black Division, and a handful of scavs.

Soft armor missing from bodyguard's plate carrier [Bug]

I was trying to knock out this taskline on PvE and ended up running into Reshala inside dorms and his bodyguard was wearing armor that's missing the soft armor insert. This was looted immediately after killing him, so it seems like it spawned this way.

Edit: No idea why Reddit compresses some images, but not others. Here's the uncompressed screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/PCrIeKH

Any tips for roasting 30,000 chickens in Ice Age adventure mode?

I've had countless runs where I made it past the 20 minute mark with Gazebo, but I simply can't amass 30,000 roasted chickens. Starting with Mad Groove helps get the fire wand early, but the damage is so laughable that it takes upwards of 10 minutes just to get anywhere near the evolution and I usually end up dying by the 15 minute mark due to low damage and since the damage is low, I hardly get any food. I've tried starting with Silent Sanctuary and working my way to the wand, which has a better success rate, but the sheer amount of chickens required isn't feasible at this point.

Is it simply starting with Mad Groove and hope I get lucky with level ups and items?

Any way to tell the PS1 ROM version?

I've been trying to get a Breath of Fire 3 randomizer to work, but it needs either the 1.0 or 1.1 ROM and all the ones I've found online simply give the name and country of origin, but not the version. Any ideas?

BoF3 Randomizer question

Just curious if anyone has tried out the Vast & Violent randomizer by Abyssonym. He told me himself that it wasn't extensively tested to the point his other randomizers have been, but I'm curious if anyone here has had any issues using it. I haven't played BoF3 in years and I'm interested in the randomizer, but not if there will be softlocks or glitches hours down the line.

How effective are status effect builds?

I'm still on my first run through the game as a pure mage and the game has been surprisingly easy for the most part, but I've always enjoyed games where status effects are effective against the enemies as much as it's effective against you, so I'm wondering if it's possible to finish the game with a bleed/poison/rot build as a newer player**. I'm going to assume most bosses are immune to status effects so I'll have to come up with something for them, but I'm just curious if this is at all viable.

** I'm very well aware that many people have completed all the game's content at SL1 as well as other various self-imposed challenges. Those people are insurmountably better than I'll ever be at this game. I guess I'm just asking if it'll be a massive struggle or if there's plenty of gear that this could work without much effort **
