How do you meet the metamor
My husband is dating someone now for about 2 months and eventually id like to meet her. She’s fine with meeting me as well.. I just don’t know HOW we go about it. I feel like no matter what, one of us will feel left out, awkward or possibly put out. She’s used to his attention like they are a couple and clearly he’s been my husband for 20 years… sooooooo for those who have met their spouses metamor how do you plan it out and make it work so no one feels like crap
What’s in between FWB and….i dunno
I met someone 6-7mn ago and we have a very intense, unique *relationship*. The connection is insane, the sexual chemistry is amazing. He’s single, I’m married, we both love each other dearly and have come to consider each other as one of our best friends and both agree we are more than FWB but don’t know how to explain this to each other or to someone else when they ask. I know a term or title is just that, but we were talking about it and it feels like it needs some sort of defining for us both. To help us navigate our expectations of each other, etc…
we want to clarify it with each other, which I can appreciate as someone who finds that clarification and title as a source of comfort and mental clarity
Thoughts…?
Partner meeting the friends - but all our married couples who are also friends w/husband….
My situation is a little tricky…
Hubs and I started our ENM/poly journey from an MFM dynamic and eventually decided to step away from that dynamic. I now see my guy solo and my hubs now has a woman he sees solo
I’ve yet to meet her (so she isn’t part of the scenario atm)
But I’d like my friends to meet my guy - they all know about each other and want to meet each other - my hubs has a bit of unresolved jealousy when it comes to me and my guy when he’s with us. He struggles with the attention and can’t navigate it well without big feelings (we are working on it- but it’s a big reason why we don’t see my guy together anymore… he recognizes and does not want to deny me the relationship and connection, just finding it’s easier for him when it’s not “in his face” for the time being)
The thing is, is it weird for me to bring my partner to a dinner date and not include my hubs when it’s people he’s friends/friendly with the husbands… or is this just something I need to get over.
It’s important to me that my friends meet my guy, he’s not someone I want to keep hidden away. He’s amazing and they would all adore each other
Those with kids who have not always been poly but told their kids when they were a little older
So a friend recently asked me “when you tell your kids about you and the hubs now in other relationships how will you act with your other partners around them?” And I thought that was a very valid question.
For context - our kids know my partner and his kids… they know him as a friend of ours/mine and have for a while — but this is not weird for our family, as we have lots of friends single, married, male, female… and that was what it was like for me growing up as well. So it’s not uncommon for my kids nor was it for me.
My husband’s partner is a single woman with no kids. I haven’t met her yet, but hubs and I both agreed the for her to meet our kids she and I need to meet first.
Ok so. For those in polyamorous relationships where kids are involved and you have NOT been poly since they were babies how do you act with your partners in front of your kids?
For me, my kids WILL inevitably be spending time with my partner and his kids. (And yes this would hinge on him telling his kids too - but that’s not part of this scenario atm) I’m genuinely curious how do you all handle this kind of situation? I think it’s good food for thought for us both for if/when that time comes
Wanting more autonomy
I’m finding as my husband and I are embarking on this journey I want more autonomy.
I understand that part of the benefit for many couples is the idea around coming home and sharing your experiences with the other partner. Initially that felt ok for me - as myself, hubs and my other partner started off in an MFM dynamic that has now become 1:1 for me with him. But as time is going on it’s becoming less ok for me and I want more privacy around the time and details he and I get to spend together… I want it to feel more organic and less of an inquisition when I get home. I want the expectation of reclaiming to not be a given, since it feels disingenuous and I’m still processing my time with my partner and relishing in the afterglow of the moment.
But, My husband still gets turned on and enjoys hearing about the day and the s*x part of the day and often asks me questions and has asked for us to take video (which I like doing — but on my own terms) and sometimes his questions feel like he is diminishing the importance of my relationship with my other partner and it makes me feel cheapened (maybe— not sure if that’s the right word) but anyways, I wonder if I don’t want to share so openly how will that effect my husband and I- since it is a big aspect of poly/ENM for many couples and it is for him, but not for me.
And on the flip side, he is seeing someone and I asked him to refrain from the details and allow those to be private between the two of them - unless I ask to hear about them.
I just want more privacy and for it to be ok to keep my moments to myself as they feel special and intimate
Husband spirals whenever I see partner
Anyone else have this? My husband is overall fine the week or days leading up to my spending time/the day with my partner (also m) and usually for a day or so afterwards.
Beforehand he encourages me to go have fun, tells me he’s excited for me, his tone and demeanor sound/feel genuine but when it comes to it, he shuts down and gets “in his feels” sometimes even rescinding some of his previously ok “terms” (such as timeframe) it’s really hard and confusing
Does anyone else have a partner who is like this? And if so, did it ever get better?
For context - we started seeing this man together as MFM partner, but decided it was best to go solo. My husband is seeing 3 other women, and really likes one of them a lot and I give him freedom to see her whenever time allows (we have kids so it’s not super easy to navigate) my partner lives 1.25hrs away, divorced single dad, works 2 jobs and is very busy so I don’t see him as often as he can see his ladies.
I just want to be able to walk out of the house without guilt or a shadow hanging over my head.
How to make it all work married and w/kids
My husband and I are new to poly. (A little less then a year) I have been seeing someone for 6mns and he recently started dating and connecting with someone. Up until now circumstances have made it easier for me to see this guy because we all were together. We recently decided to each pursue relationships solo. But now, it’s much more complicated.
We have early teenaged kids and very busy lives and trying to navigate how to spend time with our partners and the kids and so on. The kids know the man I see, but not in any other context other than he’s a friend and the kids are friends… for my husband, she has no kids.
I just don’t know how to navigate this. How do others with kids find time to spend with their partners? Have you told your kids? If so, how did that go? We both agree we would eventually like to tell them… we don’t like lying to our kids about where we are, etc…
Any helpful, constructive advice/feedback is welcomed
Video advice
Quick-ish backstory. My husband and I started our ENM in the MFM dynamic area. We met someone who I have an insane soul connection with. I expressed wanting to play solo with this man, which is something he and I both wanted to explore. My husband is ok with it. We are all ok and good, we all 3 get along… etc… sometimes my husband has moments of insecurities but we work through them and he’s still ok with me spending time with him solo. Ps side note/ my husband is free to date solo and has - but nothing concrete has transpired yet… the other man and I cheer him on and all get excited in our group chat, etc…
Anyways, my husband loves watching me with this other man and when the three of us are playing together often takes video (which is def hot to watch) his one request is that we take some video when we are together without him. I do it, because I love my husband and I want to honor that request, but at the same time, the other man and I don’t really want to do videos. We are very connected and it’s intense and overwhelming (in a very good way).
I just don’t know how to broach this with my husband… the idea that what if we forget? Or what if we just aren’t feeling it… I love him so much and do it so he’s part of it, and I know that’s what’s right/ but as someone who’s moving into a more polyamorous relationship with this man and less of a kink dynamic (husband is aware of this development and ok with it) it feels like an invasion of our time together - which is very limited due to schedules.
Husband is discouraged after a date
My husband recently decided to take the plunge and start dating (we met someone about 5mns ago and I am seeing him - we play and spend time together and recently, solo) anyways, my husband decided he was ready to get on the apps start dating. He’s been having a lot of fun with it and met some really lovely women who all know he’s in an ENM relationship and has some great dates.
However, tonight he was with someone he met recently and they were fooling around, he told her he wasn’t ready for s*x which is totally fair, but he decided to go down on her, and after she was done - she wanted to return the favor and he couldn’t get hard.
He has always been someone who when he’s pleasuring me would not stay hard and afterwards I’d do something to get him there and we have s*x and it’s amazing and never been an issue to me. but with her being a stranger he most likely didn’t feel comfortable and instead got embarrassed. Now he’s second guessing himself and if he should be putting himself out there at all.. and if he is “broken” and only able to get hard and be with me.
I’m heartbroken for him, he was so happy and enjoying himself and feeling so confident and in one experience he’s gone back in on himself.
Has this happened to other men and if so, did it change with other experiences and what was the turning point? I’d love some stories that give me hope that he will enjoy himself and the experiences he could have if he got out of his own head.
I’d love advice as to how to help him. I’m obviously here for him. I find him wildly attractive and love being with him and sleeping with him. But I also know it’s important to him to feel confident that this is going to be successful for him. But I don’t know what to do or how to do it.
