/The concept of calling the paps on yourself visiting the grave of a stranger is just so demented. Like I know the Senna family says its fine for his fans to come visit his grave but I think there's a difference between that and cynically getting youself papped visiting the mans grave for clout chasing purposes.

I've also seen people talk about how Kimi is appropriating his legacy as a south american driver and everything he represented in Brazil and this feels like the perfect example of that. Millions of Brazillians poured out into the streets to grieve for his funeral processing so the choice to visit his grave of all places feels like a disturbing attempt to trying to tap into that strong emotional connection many people have.

I think another part of this that irks me abotu the way Kimi pays homage to Senna is how he completely strips Senna's legacy from its cultural context. A huge part of the Senna story is the struggles he faced as a South American driver. Senna often talked about how representing Brazil was so core to who he was and he was a massive cultural icon for the country when it was going through a very rough time which is why he repped his country so hard. But Kimi, he makes no attempt to connect to the Brazilian fans or establish any relationship with Brazil when using their most famous f1 driver for attention.

He doesnt talk about the history, he doesnt talk about the culture, he doesn't talk about the significance, he barely even talks about who Senna actually was as a person, he is quiet literally just a similar looking face to him. Which is why him having himself papped reading a book about him by his grave, giving interviews about the experience of visiting his grave to the media, even posting photos onto your instagram of you standing on top of the ground where his body is buried (and making sure to get two different angles 💀) feels so wrong.

Also I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, I watched the video Merc made about why Senna was special to him and read the interview he gave about visiting his grave and like the guy just doesn't have anything to say about him that justifies the audacity he has. 'He was a very special guy' 'he means a lot to a lot of people and I watched a lot of videos about him' 'it felt very peaceful visiting his grave'. He doesn't have anything to say about who he actually was as a person/driver or why he was supposedly so inspired by him he created this media circus around his connection to him, all just pr trained lines Merc fed to him. Based on everything he said I get the feeling he isn't even really a fan of the guy, I mean he just has nothing to say about him, it's truly baffling! I think maybe he likes his aesthetic (he liked videos about his fashion) and watched some highlights of his racing, but I think the real thing he likes about Senna is how he looks like him and how people absolutely adored Senna. So he can live out the fantasy of being this famous loved F1 legend through him (liking videos on insta of people superimposing his face onto Senna).

I like the whole f1 communities tribute to him very performative when none of it ever touches on who he was as a person or the things he cared about, its just a cosplay or aesthetic stripped of its history. When you strip him of his history you strip it him of what made him meaningful in the first place, which feels like what Kimi (and the rest of F1 tbf) is doing. Glad to see. But definitely think Lewis should reread slide 6 and learn to take it to heart. Lewis you too and capable of using your platform to speak out even at risk of loosing opportunities (such as the fame that comes with dating Kim K). And besides, dating a zionist in and of itself is not a neutral position.

The hypocrisy is astounding, thousands of A-listers actors, directors, and just normal workers in Hollywood are boycotting Skydance because the owners, the Ellison families, open plan to monopolize the media (Tiktok, Warner Bros, etc.) to push pro-israel and pro-trump narratives + their direct investment in the Israeli military. It's disappointing that during a critical time like this Lewis is making a multi-million dollar deal to give them even MORE power to enact their agenda by adding another media company under their control.
