Meeting the Mahavidyas: "Maa Matangi" For the Ones Who Never Felt They Belonged.

This article is : For Those Who Fear Being Their True Selves.

For the Rejected, the Misunderstood, and the Authentic

For the Heart That Refuses to Pretend

For Every Soul That Was Told to Stay Quiet

For the Silenced Voice and the Hidden Self

For Those Who Fear Being Their True Selves.

🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️

She presides over the throat chakra (visuddhi) and controls the delivery of speech. She also governs Sarasvati nadi, which extends from the Aggya chakra to the tip of the tongue and bestows the abilities of foretelling.

The Outcaste Goddess, ruling speech, music, and inner wisdom. She is the Tantric Saraswati, but unlike the Vedic Saraswati who embodies purity and refinement, Matangi resides beyond convention, and control. the heavenly outcast who bestows blessings on people who live genuinely, express their inner truth, and embrace whatever that society deems unworthy, insufficient, or unattractive. (ft. Uchistha Chandalini form)

Matangi is the Goddess of inner and outer expression. She governs:

  • Vak siddhi (perfection of speech)
  • Mantra shakti (power of words)
  • Divine intuition and learning

In tantric understanding, she is the power of sound (Nada) that bridges the formless into form. She blesses those who are ready to let truth flow through them especially artists, musicians, writers, and seekers who wish to live their Dharma without fear of rejection.

She is also the Goddess of marginal spaces. The forest, the outcaste, the rebel, the voice unheard. Her energy flows freely in those who dare to break norms to speak and live in authenticity.

Syamaladaṇḍakam, one of the finest compositions of great poet Kālidāsa, calls her as Syamala. Lalita Sahasranama (10) makes reference to Maa Syamala. Mata मरकर्श्यामा मार्ङ्गी मदशाक्षलनी॥ mata marakatasyama matangi madasalini || (verse 3 of Syamaladandakam) This means “Mother, who is dark as emerald (gemstone), who is the daughter of sage Matanga is rapturous.”

FORMS OF MAA MATANGI:

  1. Ucchistha Chandalini : represents Divine Presence in what Society rejects. (most fierce and fast responding Deity- strictly under guidance.
  2. Raja Matangi : Divine administration under Maa Tripura Sundari
  3. LaghuSyama (Shymala): Gentler form of Maa matangi
  4. Vasya Matangi: Worshipped for control over emotional state (esp. for people going through intense mental turmoil, wrong habits, etc.
  5. ,etc.........

Note: Maa Matangi Sadhana must be done under someone who knows maa ( a sadhak or a guru).

She represents vaikhari (Vaikhari is the fourth and final form of sound in its evolution. This is the state wherein the sound is heard. This is called vaikharīibecause the sound is produced by a modified form of prana called vaikharī. This is the stage which is called aparā or non-supreme stage in the evolution of sound, where there exists fully developed materialization, combined with time and space, the components of maya.

[ 1) Para: The deepest level and Unmanifest sound. Pure consciousness before thought even starts.

  1. Pashyanti: The "seen" sound Where intention and vision first form together Before words are created.

  2. Madhyama: Mental Sound. Thoughts gets structured but still not expressed.

  3. Vaikhari: The Final Outer expression. ]

It is said that will (iccha) forms the basis of speech to finally merge with consciousness. The other three stages of sound are para, pashyanti, and madhyama; the last one being vaikhari.

The important difference between Sarasvati and Matangi is that the former is related to materialistic and scriptural knowledge, whereas Matangi gives inner knowledge to know the Self. In other words, Matangi dissolves all dyads and triads, leading to the unveiling of maya. She also imparts the highest spiritual knowledge: "Nothing is good and nothing is bad," as Brahman is omnipresent. Since she is considered as Shyamala, she also controls all mantras.

She is Ucchiṣṭa, meaning “ritually impure” and therefore has very few rituals associated with Her. There are no qualifications required, in order to seek Her grace. All that She requires from the devotee is pure devotion and nothing else! In terms of symbolizing the intellect behind the entire creation and guaranteeing its continuation through the laws of karma, life, death, and reincarnation, among other things, she is none other than Śrī Lalitā Herself. She is the Creation's supreme ruler, and everyone must submit to her. She is the exact substance and content of all sentient beings as well as the insentient matter, energy, and cognition, and she never changes. She truly is the Parabrahman!

Mantrini, the Divine Mother, is the source of all mantras and their results. She can conjure anything, and she will never let her true devotees down. Sri Rajashyamala is the Divine Mother Sri Lalita's intellect, understanding, and all of her subtleties. Similarly, Varahi is the activity and implementation.

Sri Raja Matangi, also known as Sri Raja Shyamala, serves as the Chief Advisor (Mantrini) of Sri Lalita Tripurasundari. In traditional depictions, She is seated on the left side of Sri Lalita Devi, while Sri Varahi Devi is seated on Her right.

From the perspective of Kundalini Yoga, Sri Lalita represents the Sushumna Nadi, the central spiritual channel corresponding to the spinal cord. Raja Shyamala or Raja Matangi represents the Ida Nadi, the left subtle channel that runs alongside the spine. This channel connects to the left nostril and is linked with the right hemisphere of the brain, symbolizing creativity, artistic expression, intuitive wisdom, scientific understanding, and logical thought.

Sri Varahi represents the Pingala Nadi, the right subtle channel that also runs parallel to the spine. It connects to the right nostril and is associated with the left hemisphere of the brain, signifying action, movement, implementation, and all forms of physical activity.

In this way, Sri Raja Shyamala embodies intellect, wisdom, discernment, and subtle understanding, while Sri Varahi represents the power to act, execute, and manifest. Together, they complement Sri Lalita, the central divine force represented by the Sushumna Nadi.

Direction and Yantra

Direction : West (symbolizing fulfilment, maturity, and expression)

Yantra : The Matangi Yantra is used in practices for:

  • Gaining mastery over communication, writing, public speaking.
  • Overcoming fear of judgment and accepting oneself in complete totality.
  • Unlocking creative and intuitive flow.
  • It can also be done by students, performers, and spiritual teachers, Siddhas, etc.

Spiritual Impact of Matangi Sadhana

With sincere worship, Matangi grants:

  •  Ability to attract everyone, develop creative and artistic abilities of the highest grade. Mastery over speech, logical deduction and all sciences and knowledge.
  • Clarity and courage in self-expression, lies and taboo things holds no place. One accepts things as part of this grand maya and still tries to rise above the same.
  • Removal of speech defects or fears of public speaking.
  • Mastery in arts, music, and language.
  • Connection to higher inspiration and authentic dharmic living, Siddhis and ability to commnd.
  • Deepening of voice, people wants to hear the sadhakas of Maa Matangi. Yet thek know what they are speaking is itself Maa Matangi's grace.

She is particularly powerful for those who are spiritually gifted but socially silenced, she blesses the seeker with a fearless, dharmic voice, and guides them further into sadhana.

Matangi and Planetary Influence

Matangi governs the Sun (Surya). The planet of ego, authority, and expression. Her sadhana helps:

  • Transform ego from conceit to genuineness.
  • Resolve concerns about rejection, visibility, or self-expression.
  • Address Sun-related doshas, such as identity crises, insufficient immunity, and poor leadership.
  • Develop your literary, musical, and artistic talents
  • She transforms repression into free expression and pride into brilliant self-confidence.
  • To obtain all types of knowledge and excel in all academic fields.

After Bagalamukhi’s silencing power, Matangi comes to restore speech. But this time purified. No longer reactive or egoic but guided by inner truth. She is the voice of the Self, spoken through a clear, fearless channel.

Matangi invites you to ask: Can you express the true song of your soul, even if the world doesn't approve?

Disclaimer:
Planets are part of creation, while the Mahavidyas are the cause of creation itself. Worshipping a Mahavidya doesn't just address a planetary problem, it connects the sādhaka to the primordial Shakti-intelligence from which the planetary force itself started.

Each Mahavidya is a complete expression of Śakti. They rules the entire cosmos. But like water finding a crack, her shakti flows most readily through the channel (nadī or graha) she is resonant with.

For Maa Matangi: the Sun is her fastest entry point - ability to attract everyone, develop creative and artistic abilities of the highest grade. Mastery over speech, logical deduction and all sciences and knowledge. These manifest quickly in sādhana. But her deeper work reorganizes the entire chart over time.

Worship Mahavidya whose assigned planet is afflicted in your chart to get the fastest, most visible result, but she is not confined there.

NOTE: Initiation into Maa Matangi mantras or Sri Vidya is highly recommended. There are high potent mantras and initiation is strongly suggested for her Sadhana.

Meeting the Mahavidyas: Maa Tara - She Doesn't Remove the Poison. She Contains It. "She is the compassionate saviour who nurtures and liberates. "

Maa Tara: She is the ultimate Guru and is Sakti Herself, who alone can take us Her consort Shiva for us to completely get liberated - a jivamukta state devoid of any further attachments to karmas and births.

When the Kshira Sagara ( ocean of milk) was churned, both nectar and poison were obtained. Though all other gods and goddesses were afraid on seeing the deadly poison, only Shiva remained undismayed. He is also known as Akshobhya (meaning undismayed). Shiva consumed the deadly poison namely "halahala". When he was consuming this poison, Maa Tara held his throat to prevent poison percolating into his body. This is how Maa Tara is known to us. She has few other forms like Ugra Tara, Neela Saraswati and Ekajata (the one-braided one, worshipped especially in Tibetan Vajrayana lineages). She is the primordial sound (sabdabrahman) from which the speech originates. She holds a sickle and a scissor in Her left hand and a lotus flower and varada mudra in Her right hands. She is also wearing a garland made of skulls. She is standing on a corpse. It is said that attaining her is much easier than other Goddesses of Das Mahavidya.

She controls one’s emotions. She in her Neel Saraswati form sits at Vishudha chakra and helps develops viveka. Vishudha chakra acts as a filter to our thoughts and keep the mind stable, external chaos loses its grip on the mind. One can witness turbulence without being consumed by it.

Maa Tara’s worship leads the practitioner to the unstruck sound (Anahata Naad), the inner vibration that is heard in deep states of meditation. She is Nada and Shiva is Bindu.

Maa Tara and Planetary Significance

Maa Tara is associated with the planet Jupiter (Guru) in Vedic astrology. Just as Jupiter grants wisdom, expansion, and spiritual growth, Tara leads the seeker from confusion to clarity. Her worship can:

  • Remedy Guru Dosh.
  • Remove mental blockages.
  • Increase intuitive intelligence and insight.
  • Provides both material and spiritual growth.
  • Confused or scattered mind, blocked intuition
  • speech difficulties, karmic grief, uncontrolled desire
  • periods of existential churning (especially Rahu/Ketu dashas), lack of material and spiritual clarity.

Personal Experiences from my sadhana journey:

  1. She helped me have understanding around my scattering mind thereby stabilising it.
  2. Sudden sources of income started coming to the surface.
  3. Helped me a lot to have control over my "kama" energy. her mantras gave a quick cooling effect to my mind and a "pause" between impulse and action, especially around kama energy. That pause changed everything.
  4. She listens very fast when any sadhakas calls her with utmost faith. She is the nurturing mother who ensures liberation ensuring the soul is never lost in the storm of life.

Maa Tara holds in one of Her arms, is the kapala - a skull cup that signifies complete unlearning and "emptying of the mind" in order to undertand her completely. Any pre-conceived notions of who or what She is, leads us nowhere. How can we ever grasp consciousness that is beyond the mind and intellect? Consciousness which is beyond the mind and intellect cannot be understood but only experienced.

Maa Tara is associated with Matsya avatar of Vishnu, who also guided the world through the flood. This reveals her essence as a saviour deity who ensures the soul is never lost in the storm of life. (Ref: Todalatantra)

Her Shiva Tatva is Akshobya Bhairava. Five of my favorite names of Maa tara are as follows:

  1. ॐ तारिण्यै नमः । (Aum tarinyai namaha): She is the Protectress. ( visualized as travelling in a boat that takes the Atma (Soul) across the Ocean of Samsara (cycle of life-death-rebirth).
  2. ॐ तीव्रगमनायै नमः। (Aum Tivra-gamanayai namaha): She who is very intense in her approach towards addressing the problems of Her devotees.
  3. ॐ जयायै नमः। (Aum jayayai namaha): She who is victorious and undefeatable in all Her actions.
  4. ॐ माहेश्वर्यै नमः। (Aum mahesvaryai namaha): She who is the ultimate form of the Divine Mother; She is none other than the mighty Durga.
  5. ॐ त्रपामुक्तायै नमः। (Aum trapa-muktayai namaha): She is the one who removes all sense of shame and any inhibitions one may have towards the entire Creation, for She alone exists and is manifested in everything.

Meeting the Mahavidyas: "Mā Bhuvaneshvari," For the Anxious Mind and the Restless Heart

Maa Bhuvaneshwari  is the space in which the soul resides in anahata chakra. The Self resides in a cave in our heart and this cave is said to be  space of akasha.

Akasha  is the first amongst creation.  From this Self comes space; from space, air; from air fire; from fire water, from water earth; from earth plants and herbs; from plants and herbs food and from food, human beings.

Planet: Moon (Chandra) in Vedic astrology which is the planet of emotions, mind, receptivity, and motherly nurture.

Her worship helps:

  1. Ease the overthinking, worry, mental restlessness, mental chatter, emotional turbulence and anxiety.
  2. Bring peace  and harmony around you in your  office, home or life.

  6. When she is invoked, her presence  expands one’s inner space, create mental clarity and spiritual growth.
  7. Supports manifestation of abundance and order in family, career, and inner life
  8. She is especially revered by those in positions of leadership, householders seeking spiritual discipline within worldly life, and seekers desiring peace without withdrawal.
  9. She is the unconditional love in our life.

How to worship her when you have no guru or someone to guide?

Start from any monday:

  1. Light a diya before her pic.
  2. Offer home cooked Kheer to her daily for 7 days.
  3. Chant bhuvneshwari strotram 21 times daily.
  4. At last, end your pooja with a kapoor arti.

For Maa Bhuvaneshvari: the Moon is her fastest entry point- peace of mind, mental space, emotional groundedness, harmony, unconditional love. These manifest quickly in sādhana. But her deeper work reorganizes the entire chart over time.

Worship Mahavidya whose assigned planet is afflicted in your chart to get the fastest, most visible result, but she is not confined there.

Every fear humans experience is ultimately fear of death in disguise and fear of death itself is the soul forgetting what it is.

Why Fear of Death Exists - The Root Cause

In both Vedantic and Tantric frameworks, fear of death (Mrityu Bhaya) arises from one fundamental cause:

Ahamkara - the false identification with the body and mind as "I."

The Atman, the soul is Sat-Chit-Ananda. Eternal existence, pure consciousness, absolute bliss. It was never born, it cannot die. The Bhagavad Gita states this directly:

>"Nainam chindanti shastrani, nainam dahati pavakah" weapons cannot cut it, fire cannot burn it, water cannot drown it, wind cannot dry it.

So if the soul is eternal why does fear exist at all?

Because Maya the veil of illusion causes the Jivatman (individual soul) to forget its true nature and identify completely with the temporary vehicle of the body. When the body feels threatened with dissolution, the ego experiences that as its own death because it has forgotten it is not the body.

This is the core delusion. Fear of death is literally the soul forgetting what it is.

Where It Lives in the Body, The Anahata Connection

Anahata Chakra is the seat of:

  • The Jivatman (individual soul) - represented as a tiny flame within the heart
  • Anahata literally means "unstruck sound" - the primordial vibration that exists beyond birth and death
  • The bridge between the lower three chakras (material/survival) and upper three (consciousness/liberation)

Maa Dakshina Kali specifically resides in Anahata in her most merciful liberating form not the fierce cremation-ground Kali, but the Kali who cuts the fear of death by revealing the eternal nature of the soul she holds in her arms.

The precise mechanism of why Anahata blockage causes Mrityu Bhaya:

Anahata Blockage Effect on Soul
Grief, heartbreak, loss Soul contracts, forgets its expansiveness
Conditional love wounds Jivatman feels unsafe, clings to body for security
Pranic stagnation in heart center The inner flame dims, soul "forgets" its own immortality
Disconnection from Anahata Consciousness drops to Manipura/Muladhara, survival fear dominates

When the Anahata is blocked, the awareness of the soul drops downward into the survival chakras: Manipura (ego/control) and Muladhara (primal fear/survival). At that level, death looks like annihilation because the soul's immortal nature is no longer felt or known. It's not that the soul becomes mortal, it's that the perception of mortality takes over.

How Maa Dakshina Kali Removes This Fear

Maa Kali is the great liberator from Mrityu Bhaya precisely because:

  1. She IS death: by merging with her, the sadhaka experiences that what we call death is simply Maa herself. She doesn't destroy she transforms. Fear dissolves when you realize the thing you feared is your own Mother.
  2. She cuts Ahamkara: the ego-identity that believes it will die. Her sword doesn't cut flesh, it cuts the false "I." What remains after that cut? Pure awareness. Deathless.
  3. She opens Anahata: through her Sadhana, the heart center awakens to the Jivatman's true nature. The inner flame is recognized. Once you feel the soul's presence directly in Anahata, death loses its terror completely because you've met the part of you that was never born.
  4. Dakshina specifically: the "right-handed" or southern-facing Kali is the most accessible and merciful form. She stands on Shiva (pure consciousness) showing that even the dissolution of form rests on an indestructible foundation.

Why Most People Haven't Had This Experience

Most people live their entire lives in the lower three chakras i.e. survival, desire, ego. The Anahata remains partially or fully blocked due to:

  • Unresolved grief and heartbreak
  • Childhood wounds around love and safety
  • Ancestral patterns of loss and trauma
  • Accumulated emotional residue in the heart center
  • No direct transmission or initiation into heart-center awareness

Without Sadhana, without a direct experience of the Jivatman, the intellectual knowledge that "the soul is eternal" remains just that, intellectual. It doesn't dissolve fear. Only direct experience dissolves fear.

Hey everyone 🙏

I've been on a deep spiritual path for over 11 years. What started as personal healing slowly became something I began offering to others - quietly, one person at a time. The results kept showing up, so here I am.

I'm opening a 3 spots for people who feel something is stuck, heavy, or unresolved - and who are ready to actually move it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHAT I WORK WITH

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🔴 Cord Cutting

For those still carrying the energetic weight of past people or situations. Ex-partners, toxic relationships, family wounds, old grief - these ties stay active long after the mind has moved on. We release them fully and close the energy leak.

🟠 Chakra Healing & Stabilization

For anyone feeling overwhelmed by their own energy - emotionally flooded, ungrounded, unable to hold themselves steady. This isn't surface-level chakra work. We go deep into what's actually blocked or destabilized and rebuild your capacity to hold your own energy without being consumed by it.

🟡 Emotional Energy Cleanse

For the weight that's been there so long it feels like personality. Chronic anxiety, grief, anger, shame, fear - these live in the body and the energy field long after the events that caused them. This clears them at the root.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FORMAT

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

📅 3 consecutive days

⏱️ 1 hour each — live 1:1 voice session

🌑 Day 1: Release & deep clearing

🌓 Day 2: Rebalancing & stabilization

🌕 Day 3: Integration, sealing & protection

The 3-day structure is intentional. Real energetic shifts need integration time, most people notice the biggest changes between sessions, not just after them.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

💫 Investment: $150 for the full program

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

If something here is speaking to where you are right now, DM me. We'll talk first - no pressure, ever. I only take on people I genuinely feel called to work with.

With love 🌿

Hey everyone 🙏

I want to be upfront about who I am before anything else - I come from years of deep spiritual practice rooted in ancient Indian Tantric and Vedic traditions. This isn't something I picked up from a course. It's been my lived path, through real transformation, real darkness, and real breakthroughs.

I'm opening a 3 spots for people who are genuinely struggling and ready to do deep work.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHAT I WORK WITH

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🔴 Cord Cutting

For those still energetically tied to people, relationships, or situations that drained them. Ex-partners, toxic family, old wounds - these cords stay active long after the mind has moved on. We release them fully and seal the field.

🟠 Chakra Healing & Stabilization

This is especially for people experiencing intense energies they struggle to hold - emotional overwhelm, feeling ungrounded, scattered focus, or like something is "moving" in your system that you can't control. I work through the chakra system using methods rooted in ancient Tantric frameworks to help you stabilize and integrate, not suppress.

🟡 Emotional Energy Cleanse

Grief, chronic anxiety, anger that keeps returning, emotional heaviness you've carried so long it feels normal - this clears it at the root level, not just the surface.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FORMAT

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

📅 3 consecutive days

⏱️ 1 hour each — live 1:1 voice session

🌑 Day 1: Deep release & clearing

🌓 Day 2: Rebalancing & stabilization

🌕 Day 3: Integration, sealing & protection

The 3-day structure matters. Real energetic shifts need time to settle, in the physical body and the subtle body both. Most people feel the change happening between sessions, not just after.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

💫 Investment: $150 for the full program

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

If something here resonates with what you've been going through, DM me. We'll have a short conversation first - I only work with people I genuinely feel called to help, so there's never any pressure.

With love and light 🌸

  1. Maa Kali – She controls both the biological heart and clairvoyant heart chakra. She also controls blood.
  2. Maa Tara – She controls tongue. She is in total control of the final stage of speech pashyanti. This is how she is connected to knowledge. She controls navel chakra and her presence goes up to ajnachakra.
  3. Maa Tripurasundari – She is at sahasrara, the crown chakra.
  4. Maa Bhuvaneshwari – She is the space in which the soul resides in heart chakra. According to Katha Upanishad, the Self resides in a cave in our heart. This cave is said to be space of akasha.
  5. Maa Chinnamasta – She also controls ajnachakra and is in charge of upward movement of prana.
  6. Maa Tripurabhairavi – She is in muladhara in the form of Kundalini. It can be said that Kundalini is also her name.
  7. Maa Dhumavati – She also resides in heart chakra. But her energy is powerful and at the same time, it is always subtle. Negative thoughts and emotions emerge in the mind, when her energy is hyperactive.
  8. Maa Bagalamukhi – She is in the upper palate, called Indra yoni (or Indra yoga) or the orifice of Indra. This portion is extremely important as Divine nectar (cerebrospinal fluid) drips from the skull through this orifice. She is also related to heart chakra. She plays an important role in transmigration.
  9. Maa Matangi – She presides over throat chakra (vishuddhi) and controls the delivery of speech. Hence she is treated on par with goddess Sarasvati, as she also controls Sarasvati nadi running from ajnachakra to the tip of the tongue, conferring the abilities of foretelling.
  10. Maa Kamalatmika – She pervades in heart chakra and causes all sorts of auspiciousness and beauty of the mind. She completely works on material world and fulfils all material desires. Only when the material desires are fulfilled, Self-realization can happen. Without realizing the Self within, Liberation is not possible. Therefore, one’s fundamental spiritual quest is handled by her and she continues to stay till he/she crosses all materialistic desires. She affirms that body is the temple and soul within is the sanctum sanctorum

If Shiva is not both good and bad, then He can never be called omnipresent.

Shiva’s power is Shakti and She manifests through various attributes in the form of these ten shakti-s. There is no question of who is superior or inferior, as all the ten shakti-s are needed for our very existence. Each of these shakti-s work on our subtle bodies to gain supreme knowledge leading realization of Shiva within and ultimately to become one with Shiva, the liberation.

Shiva is always Self-effulgent and hence He is addressed as Prakāśa (Light) and Shakti is His Power to distribute His Light so that the universe is made visible. She is Vimarśa or cognizance. Light without cognizance and cognizance without light is of no use and based on this principle, Shiva and Shakti are always interdependent and also inherent (prakasa vimarsa samarasyatmaka parabrahmasvarupiṇi).

Shakti has two aspects; one is spiritual in nature and this is known as Cit-Shakti (the Power of Consciousness) and the other is Maya-Shakti (the power of delusion) relating to the materialistic aspects of life.

Then what is the difference between Shiva and Shakti? In reality, there is no difference and they are so interdependent and the one without the other becomes inert. Shiva is static energy and His own power Shakti (Svatantrya Shakti) is kinetic energy. They are also known as Nirguṇa Brahman and Saguṇa Brahman and only after realising Saguṇa Brahman, one can merge into Nirguṇa Brahman, the purest form of Consciousness, Shiva. But for realising Shiva or merging unto Him, we need Her stamp of approval. Main purpose of worshipping Her is to get Her Grace to merge unto Shiva (She is kaivalyapadadāyinī).

O! Bhavānī, sages and saints describe Your gross forms. Vedas speak about Your subtle forms (mantra forms); some adore you as the origin of speech (Śabdrabrahman); some address you as the root of worlds; but we think of You as Universal ocean of mercy and compassion and nothing else”.
