Thinking of starting

Hey gang! I’ve tried a bunch of SSRIs and they’re all very activating in the beginning stages which has caused me to abandon ship. Maybe I’m being a wimp but it made my already horrible anxiety way worse. Curious if Trintellix does the same thing? Or what to expect in the beginning few weeks. Thanks!

Quviviq effective if you have anxiety?

Anyone with high anxiety, especially at night, have any issues with Quviviq? Was prescribed it but am wondering if my anxiety will override its effects causing the drug to fail. Or I fail it I guess lol. Thanks!

Increased heart rate?

Hey gang! Thinking of starting Mirt for anxiety/depression/insomnia. I already have tachycardia and take a beta blocker for that. Afraid to start Mirt because of its effect on norepinephrine. Don’t want to start if it’s going to increase my heart rate.

Anyone experience an increase in HR and if so how pronounced was/is it? Thanks!

Remeron(Mirtazapine)

Anyone have any experiences with Remeron for anxiety with depression? I’d say my main issue is my anxiety. I’ve tried SSRI in the past and just can’t handle the start up phase for any of them. Is it easier with Mirt? Thanks!

Anyone taking for anxiety?

Hi everyone! Was wondering if anyone takes Mirt to treat anxiety? Looking for a new med as my anxiety is out of control. If so, how beneficial is it? Also how was the startup phase? Was there an increase in anxiety, depression etc? Thanks!

Thinking of starting but scared

Hi everyone! So Viibryd is in my green list of GeneSight test results. Thinking of starting but am scared to death of the startup phase. How bad is it and how long does it last? My anxiety is already through the roof and I’m not sure I can tolerate an increase from meds. Thanks in advance!

Thinking of starting

Hi everyone! Thinking of starting Lexapro but am curious of everyone’s startup period. My anxiety is already off the charts and I’m concerned that during the initial start up period it’ll be absolutely insane. Curious of everyone’s suggestions how to mitigate that or if I should even be worried about it. I was on lexapro in my 20’s but now am in my early 40’s so naturally I can’t remember the start up period when I was on it all those years ago lol.

Thanks in advance!

Quviviq

Was just prescribed Quviviq by my psychiatrist. Curious anyone’s success stories on it. I suffer from anxiety which obviously fuels my insomnia lol. So I’m a bit scared to take it. But just am desperate for a consistent sleep pattern. Can I expect it to work the first night? Thanks in advance!

Increased HR, palpitations and heavy pounding heart.

Anyone else have an increased HR, palps and a heavy pounding heart? Started super low with 2.5mg once a day for a week, then 2.5mg twice a day for a week and then 2.5mg three times a day for two weeks. Then went to 5mg in the am and 2.5mg in the after noon and 2.5mg at lunch. First week on that was fine then my anxiety went nuts along with an increase in resting heart rate, palpitation and a heavy pounding heart towards the end of the second week. My psychiatrist and I decided to go back down to 2.5mg 3x a day and have been there for 2 weeks. Still have an elevated HR at random, palps when I’m at rest about to fall asleep and just a heavy heart.

So I’m about 7 weeks in now. Struggling to hang on. Is this normal? I’m on a beta blocker and still have a high HR at times. Even when not anxious. It sometimes occurs an hour after taking it sometimes 3 hours after. I take it on an empty stomach and as soon as I eat an hour later it can happen too. So weird. Any advice is appreciated.

Twice a day versus Three times a day

What seems to be the best option? I can remember to take it 3 times a day so that’s not an issue. Just curious what is best for most folks. Thanks!

Buspar and CBD/CBN

Anyone taking Buspar that also takes CBD/CBN for sleep? I’ve read that CBD can increase Buspar levels because they are processed by the same liver enzyme. Just curious if anyone has been advised against this or alternatively if anyone combines them without issue? I have a psych appointment in a week that I will bring this up at of course. I have mentioned it in the past but I’m not sure my psych was focused on it at that point. Thanks everyone!

Struggling

Hi everyone! Posted a couple days ago about a major increase in anxiety during the second week after a dose increase. Really struggling to hang on here. I started very low at 2.5mg once a day, progressed to 2.5mg twice a day the second week and then 3x a day the third week. I noticed that anxiety had improved at that point slightly but felt I had room to improve. Moved to 5mg in the morning and then 2.5mg my other 2 doses. The first week on that was great ..and then it wasn’t. I noticed an increase in heart rate and feeling very keyed up for about 3 hours after taking it. The moments in between are ok thankfully.

Just looking for advice or words of encouragement I guess. I don’t do well with SSRIs and because my wife and I are tying to have another baby I don’t want to be on them due to their effect on sperm quality. So I’m kind of putting all my eggs in one basket here. Thanks and much love!

Increased anxiety during second week of dose increase?

Hanging! Started Buspar a little over a month ago. Started extremely low and slow at 2.5mg once a day. Second week was 2.5mg twice a day and the third week 2.5mg 3 times a day. Each increase brought about an increase in anxiety during the first week that subsided after that. About 11 days ago I increase to 5mg in the am and then kept my other two doses at 2.5mg. The first week was good but this second week has been a challenge anxiety wise. Anyone else experience this? I also started low dose B vitamins and CoQ10 100mg at the start of the new dose increase. Not sure if it’s that or just the effects of the Buspar increase. Or both maybe?

Thanks!!

Starting slow and low

Anyone else start super slow and low due to bad past experiences with SSRI and other meds? Started week 1 on 2.5mg once a day. My second week started yesterday with 2.5mg twice a day.

Is this counter productive? Just don’t want to have that super activated feeling aka intense anxiety while starting. I already have trouble sleeping. I don’t need help in that area lol.

Insomnia - 3:30am wake ups

Hey! Been taking metoprolol succinate 25mg at night for about 5 months. I noticed that I wake up at 3:30am regularly and lately I haven’t been able to fall back asleep.

Curious if taking it in the morning instead of at night would make a difference. Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Buspar and gene mutations

Any of you folks on Buspar that have had a gene test as well? I don’t mean GeneSight. I mean a gene test for the MTHFR gene mutations, COMT status, etc.

I have the MTHFR gene mutation as well as slow COMT. Would like to start Buspar but am curious if anyone who has the above gene issues has had success on it or if it adversely affected them? Thanks!!

Buspar for Anxiety. Slow (Met/Met)COMT, MTHFR C677T(60-70%) and slow MAO.

Hey everyone! I have the above gene mutations and am interested in adding an anxiety med due to chronic anxiety. I’ve tried SSRIs with basically no luck. My psychiatrist was suggesting Buspar. Has anyone tried Buspar with success? Thanks!

Hey gang! So I’ve had GAD for a long time now. I was on Lexapro for about 7 years then stopped for 2 years. Smoke a ton of pot during and after. Started having bad panic attacks and I was out on an antipsychotic for MDD being how I just lost my 2 month old son. Tried to add a SSRI on top of that and every single one bothered me. Even the ones in the green in my GeneSight test. I have a prescription for Lexapro filled but am scared to take it.

Buspar is also on my green list on GeneSight. The last time I tried it I was also taking the antipsychotic and it was just too much for me. I’m currently no longer taking any medication for depression or anxiety. The depression, through therapy, is very manageable but anxiety is still relatively high.

Am I being ridiculous for being reluctant to try anything at this point?

If I’m going to start it would likely be at 2.5mg twice a day. Has anyone had success on 2.5mg twice a day to start out? Thank you!!

Hello! I’m currently taking metoprolol succinate 25mg for sinus tachycardia. Due to some awful insomnia I am switching to Diltiazem ER 120mg. From what I’ve read I need to wean off the metoprolol as I start the Diltiazem. Is that correct? My cardiologist suggested stopping metoprolol and starting Diltiazem without a wean. Just worried for withdrawal/rebound tachycardia. Thanks!!
