Cryptids!

Today ive got some cryptids!

Who is your favorite cryptid?

Im particular to the Squonk as it lives in my area. Its a creature so ugly that all it can do is weep because of how miserable it is. If you come across it , it will dissolve into the puddle of its own tears out of embarrassment.

And then theres the NotDeer. Folks in Appalachia know what im talking about. What makes it worse is that its generally agreed that sightings of the NotDeer are in fact just regular deer suffering rhe end stages of a nightmarish neurological virus called Chronic wasting disease.

Since lots of people asked, i get the shiny effect by using self adhesive holographic laminate sheets.

Im completely addicted to the stuff and its taking every bit of self control I have not to put it on everything.

Does anyone else have Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence?

SSCD is an absolutely bullshit nonsense condition where you develop a tiny hole in your skull to your inner ear and causes one of your inner ear bones to get shoved into your brain case. The result is pulsile tinnitus, balance issues, and the stupid fucking superpower of being able to hear your eyes moving.

Im highly suspected of having SSCD, and getting some specialized imagery later this week to confirm.

The ENT specialist who saw me told me it was likely caused from the eds connective tissue weakness coupled with a concussion I had.

Has anyone else experienced this? Im feeling very alone and scared and angry and ready to scream and throw things because Im so tired of how much EDS is tearing my body apart.

Full family Gluten free adventure time! (Things are going shockingly well)

Ive got celiac. Thats old news.

Unfortunately, last Friday we got the biopsy back from my daughter's scope and she was officially diagnosed. This weekend was the start of her gluten free diet.

It went better than I ever hoped. Shes been in the loop so she expected this to happen, so it wasnt as devastating. Shes been very mature about it and weve had very few tears.

And Im so impressed and touched because my husband has decided to go GF with us in solidarity. Now there will be zero gluten in the house to tempt her or make her feel bad.

We went to the big health food store the next town over, and she picked out a whole bunch of snacks, breads, pastas etc. We talked about how to check the labels and what foods are naturally gluten free that she wouldnt have to give up. Then we all three had a gluten free cupcake from their bakery.

Today is her first school day gluten free, so wish her luck!

Is this actually a thing?

This is aquarium adjacent, but I feel like you folks would have more insight.

I keep seeing people saying to use the water from water changes to water your plants, but Im incredulous. Is there actually any benefit or is this just a weird myth that keeps being perpetuated?

What exactly about aquarium water would even be beneficial to houseplants?

Edit: Im convinced. If the aquarium folks say it makes sense, then Ill believe it.

Thank you all. Im always suspicious about the results I find on Google these days and prefer to ask people who know what they are talking about.

Ill give it a try this week.

Experimenting with wood

I recently unearthed this stash of card sized pieces of maple wood veneer that was left over from a project several years ago.

I thought I would experiment with them a bit. I did sone wood burning with acrylic marker on top.

Should I continue messing around with these wood cards?

This is the first time ive found a gf cookie that wasnt just " meh"

It reminds me of biscoff cookies ❤️

I dont know about them being a breakfast food like they suggest. .... but add a little tea and some apple slices its an absolutely lovely little snack.

Fish theory is this idea that if you have art block you draw a fish to cure it. So I drew a bunch of fish.

They are acrylic marker that I put a holographic film Overtop of. The ones with the x on the first two pictures are not available for trade.

This is my first time doing this so please forgive me if I do something wrong 🙏
