I built a small utility browser extension portfolio over the last few years that now has 100K+ weekly active users across Chrome & Edge.
What surprised me most is how valuable distribution and store rankings became compared to the actual codebase. With how saturated the extension market is now, getting organic reach feels much harder than it used to be.
Now I’m trying to figure out the best path forward monetization-wise.
Considering:
- Adding premium/pro features or subscriptions
- Adding AI/productivity features
- Partnering with brands/search providers
- Cross-promoting other apps/extensions
- Potentially exiting/selling the portfolio to some investor
