Going on a weekend away in a big city with my partner, don’t do this much so I’m nervous, here’s my travelling companion!

He’s called Grippybara because his arms can grip around your wrist, but this weekend he’s secured tightly in my water bottle pouch on my backpack! He’s sooo soft and reminds me of stroking my cats so he’s very comforting! I would have him on my wrist but I’m worried what people would think :(

Since when was a tiny pot noodle available as a snack???

Never seen this before! Hope they get a few more flavours, what a great deal to get one of these with your sandwich.

Is a video call assessment just as good as in person?

Hello, as per the title. I’m doing the right to choose pathway and of course the places I can pick are on the other side of the country (I’m in the north east of England) so unless I travel to London for example, I’ll have to do video calls. I know seeing the patient is important during these assessments and I’m worried a video call won’t do me justice, so to speak. What do you all think? I will travel for an in person one if I absolutely have to as I can’t find any clinics that do right to choose in my area.

First Thing New Mental Health Practitioner Said to Me Was “Have You Heard of Neurodiversity?”

So I [MtF25] went to my new GP practice to discuss my anxiety/depression with a mental health practitioner. She asked me what was wrong and I told her the usual, she just nodded occasionally and said “mhm” which was fine. Then when I’d finished and it was her turn to speak she said “So, have you heard of neurodiversity?” I was a bit surprised and said I know a little about it. She then went on to suggest that the problems I’d described sound like they could be due to autism and ADHD. She read off some characteristics of both and I said yes I suppose a good few of them sound relatable. She then said I should do an assessment for autism/ADHD and showed me how to get started.

I guess I’m just quite taken aback by this. The whole appointment was like 5 minutes. When I was a teenager I was seeing a therapist who diagnosed me with OCD. I also told her I was wondering about autism but she didn’t think I was right. Anyway, she eventually “humoured “ me and did some sort of test with me; of course the result was that I wasn’t autistic.

So for the last ~10 years I’ve been thinking “nope, not me. I can’t be autistic because my therapist said so”. And now after this 5 minute appointment the other day I just don’t know what to think anymore. I’ve started the process of getting an assessment like the mental health practitioner said. But I guess I just feel a bit lost and confused, I don’t really know what I should do or what to think.

Sorry for the wall of text, just wondering what others have to say.
