Managing overhead costs and clinical supply budgets
Keeping overhead costs under control is becoming increasingly difficult this year with the rising prices of basic clinical supplies and staff wages. I am running a solo practice and trying to analyze every single line item on my profit and loss statement to find areas where we can trim the fat.
We audited our software subscriptions recently to see what we actually need. My office currently runs Dentimax for our practice management and billing which handles our needs perfectly well without crazy monthly fees. I am now looking closely at our lab bills and inventory management systems.
What percentage of your total collections is typically allocated to clinical supplies right now? I feel like my supply budget has crept up significantly and I am wondering if joining a bulk purchasing group is actually worth the membership hassle.
