Disabled people what is something you wish you'd see more in fantasy?

In my book, there's a race of winged humanoids and one of the characters of that race was born blind, it was very interesting and challenging to find ways and accommodations to make it possible for him to fly more or less safely.

And that got me thinking that most fantasy worlds are not very accommodating for disabilities, and there are probably many things disabled people hope to see but rarely do, most of which would've never accrued to me, a fully abled person. So what are your suggestions?

Question about Prince of Prohibition

Hi! I've recently read and fell in love with {the Prince of Prohibition by Marilyn Marks} it's a romantasy Great Gatsby retelling set in the 1920s. It's absolutely delightful.

However, the third book, The Empress of Everything was supposed to be released in 2025 but it never was. I checked the author's Instagram page and she hasn't posted anything since December 2025. If anyone knows what happened both to the book and the author, please let me know.

How do I get rid of this feeling about Ace people?

Before y'all start down voting me to hell, I'd like to say I'm fully aware that this feeling is not rational or right. Logically I know it's not correct but emotionally I can't stop feeling it and I'd like to overcome that.

So when I read about Ace people in literature, specially romance (where they are in a relationship with someone who is not ace) I feel this profound feeling of sadness. My heart breaks for them. I can't explain it. It's just feel like no matter how happy their ending is, there's still something missing and it's not a real happily ever after, like the feeling you get when you look at birds that have lost the ability to fly, kinda makes me wanna cry. Again, I know it's not true and not everyone needs sexual activities in their lives, but I can't help how I feel.

Has anyone ever had a similar experience? (I'm bi, don't know if that's relevant) How do I get my brain to accept that it's not a tragedy?

Do you think the US or the UK standard spelling is more appropriate for fantasy?

I'm not a native English speaker, and I honestly don't have a preference for the spellings. But I decided I needed to pick one and stick with that for my book, and now I can't decide.

Because we were taught English by the US standards and American stuff is more dominant in social media, I'm more used to spelling things such as Color instead of Colour.

On the other hand, I kinda like the shape of the words when you use "ou" instead of just "o" better. And in fantasy, we usually imagine characters with British accents, right? So I thought that might be more appropriate.

What do you think? Both as a reader and writer, do you have a preference?

I think my soul just left my body and ascended to Valhalla

Something just happened and I've been giggling like a little girl about it all day, and I just wanted to share it.

So normally I'm not the type of person who reaches out to authors on other platforms to chat or ask questions, but when I found my favorite author was active on Tumblr, I couldn't resist and massaged them bc I had some questions about their story. Now, for context, you have to understand this work isn't just something I love very much, it's literally my favorite piece of literature, not even just fanfiction (I'm one of those annoying people who reads 100 books a year) so... To say I idolize this author would be accurate.

My main question was whether or not they had *intended* for a garden in the story to be a metaphor for the characters' relationship. Because one of them had a garden in the house he'd built for the two of them, and everything their relationship was good, the garden was flourishing. And every time their relationship went downhill, the garden also started to decay. The main problem in their relationship was that MC1 couldn't visit MC2 often enough (understatement) so eventually MC2 (who owns the garden) packed up and left their house, only visiting every few years when MC1 came back. It was implied that due to MC2 not being there to care for the garden, it had begun to rot. The irony of that being the exact same issue he has with his partner. This whole thing was done very subtly, like a short sentence in the middle of a paragraph, so it wasn't on the nose at all. Anyway, I asked if I was going crazy or if it really was a physical manifestation of their love.

It was! Now, the part that made me so giddy was that the author told me no one but me has ever noticed this (or at least hasn't mentioned that they did) and this work is by no means small, it has 1400+ comments, not counting Tumblr. They'd thought this deliberately placed metaphor had gone unnoticed by everyone and I was the only person to ever say something about it :') I'll just go lay down and die of butterfly infestation in my stomach now.

Issue with there not being a sync option

Hi, I'm kinda new to onenote so I'm confused why you can't sync the notebooks you have on desktop (windows 10) to your mobile app unless it's location is saved on Onedrive? I have one notebook that's saved on Onedrive, and it syncs without a problem, but my other notebooks are saved on other disks, and there isn't an option to sync them. Other than moving them to onedrive (I don't wanna do that because in my country internet isn't guaranteed and I can't access the notebook that's on onedrive without internet connection) what can I do?

What is your opinion on throuples in romantasy?

I've been curious to know how many people like or dislike throuples and why. Like, would you put a book down if you found out the main character ended up with two people?

>! And I know Blood And Ash has this, but I haven't read that series and don't know how it was done, if it was just sex or not, so I'm not talking about that particular instance. !<

TO CLARIFY: I don't mean they're in an open relationship, or just casually hooking up as a threesome, I mean a fully committed and closed relationship, just like a monogamous relationship, just between three instead of two.

Is marrying two crown prince/princesses together a real thing?

I'm not well read in history, but every time they marry a crown princess to a crown prince of another kingdom in fantasy novels, I can't help but think this is definitely not something realistic that would happen irl.

Because they're both going to be king/queen of their own respective realms, and how can they do that if they're also king/queen of another land entirely? This isn't Hades & Persephone where they can spend six months in each kingdom. The only solution I can think of is one of them would be stripped of their title as heir and it'd be given to their younger sibling, which, at that point why go through the hassle when you can just marry the younger sibling to begin with?

I feel like authors breeze through this too easily and don't actually think it through, because it sounds cooler that the spare being married off. But maybe I'm wrong. Are there any real world examples of this actually working out?

Looking for Frostiron (Loki/Tony) recs

Hi! I'm looking for Fics where Loki and Tony are either having adventures in the TVA or Tony's a variant/TVA worker or something along those lines.

I've read Glorious where they're both captured by the TVA after Loki accidentally travels to 2008 and I want more.

The morality of murder on the show

I didn't initially notice this, but as I was rewatching the series I realized something that I can't unsee and it's started to really annoy me.

It's the show's view on killing. In the show, Chloe, and all the other cop characters have killed both on screen and off screen, as is a given for their job, it's completely understandable. And unless it's an innocent who got caught in the crossfire, it's never demonized or said that the cop is a "monster" for killing the obviously deserving person. Chloe herself has a pretty high kill count.

Now, if it's any of the characters who are not cops, it's a different story. No matter how justified it is or how undeserving of life that person is, the character isn't allowed to kill or they'll be a "monster" (the only exception is Maze who is already a demon)

One of the *many* examples I can think of is how Roary was gonna kill the guy who kidnapped her (can't remember his name), and not only that, he tortured her, tried to kill her dad, almost got her mom killed and *did* kill Dan. By all accounts, she had every right to kill him, but there's Lucifer, telling her that if she does she'll be a monster (and ofc in that exact moment she's getting a devil face) and she'll hate herself forever (which is never mentioned to be a problem for the cops) and I'd bet my right arm they wouldn't bat an eye if Chloe was that to shoot him.

It's like they're pushing this narrative that the cops have a "right" to kill but for everyone else it's unjustifiable no matter what. And I get it, it's an American show about the police department, ofc there's gonna be propaganda in it, but this is just to a ridiculous level and very frustrating. Thoughts?

Would a person with a disfigurement be treated differently in the 20s?

I know people treat those who are "different" differently based on the time period. I have a character with a very large, visible red birthmark on her face. If it was modern times, she'd get a few odd/curious glances occasionally but ultimately no one would care.

But my story is set in the late 1920s (almost 1930) England. So I'm not sure if she'd be discriminated against, or treated poorly? Specially being a young woman. Or would people be tolerant and treat her ok?

Why doesn't this word exist?

One of the things I like about the English language is that you can easily turn a lot of adjectives into nouns and vice versa by changing the end of the word (something you can't do in my native language). Example:

Competent → Competence

Intelligent → Intelligence

Now I'm not an expert or anything but as far as I know by that same logic you should be able to change Revenant (adj) to Revenance (n) but Revenance isn't actually a word. And it's pissing me off.

Is it possible to coin it, or just start using it? If you already knew what revenant was, would hearing revenance make sense to you(specially if you're a native English speaker)?

How to make a character without gag reflex vomit?

If someone doesn't have a gag reflex, the most commonly used method of inducing nausea, which is sticking your finger down your throat, doesn't work. What else can they do if they really need to throw up? Will kicking them in the stomach work?

My WIP isn't contemporary so no modern medicine can be used.

Looking for Frostiron recs

I'm actually looking for two types of fics at the moment.

*1-* Tony gets stuck on the other side of the portal in 2012 (he doesn't die obv) or something similar goes wrong with flying the nuke.

*2-* Fics that were written after Endgame but before the Loki series came out, about the alternate universe that got created where Loki got away. I'm curious how they thought the situation with Loki escaping with the tesseract would go before it was influenced by the series and the TVA and stuff got involved.

Please no unhappy endings. The longer the story, the better, but it's ok if it's not long. If you know several Fics that fit either of these please don't feel like you have to share only one or two.

Thank you in advance 💕

Have you ever had a breakdown triggered by a fic?

Not the normal "a few tears" over angst, I mean like full on hysterical sobbing.

A few days ago, I saw a few about my favorite character, in a pairing I adore. The summary was very intriguing but the tags were insistent it was a tragedy, yet there was no "unhappy ending" tag. So I decided to be safe and read the last line, see if it was a happy ending or not before reading the whole thing. Well, I ended up reading the last few paragraphs, and that was enough. I don't even remember what happened, I just burst into tears.

The character died at the end, and even though I've read about their death in brutal ways many times (they're dead in canon) this one got to me like no other. They didn't die in a battle, or by an enemy or anything. They died slowly from a sickness. Something about that just... Yeah.

I was crying for 12 hours. No, I am not exaggerating, I was *literally* bawling from 2 PM to 2 AM. My eyes were so swollen they barely opened, my nose was stuffed and I just couldn't stop the tears. To be fair, the fic didn't do this all on its own, it was more of a last straw. I've been in a very bad place mentally for a long time and this just triggered a meltdown.

Have you ever had something like this happen?

Feedback for my POC servant idea [Epic Fantasy]

In my WIP, the queen's handmaiden is a black woman. To clarify: No, the reason she's a servant is not because she's black, she's just a maid and also happens to be black, not because the queen's racist. Another maid with her exact position for another royal family is white. The way that it works is that her family has been in service of the crown for generations, her mother was the previous queen's handmaid and she was raised from childhood to take over that role for the new queen. She also plays a big role in shaping the FMC's path.

If it's relevant, her daughter will join a kind of elite military unit of the queen, becoming a fierce warrior and friend to the FMC.

Logically, I know that just because a race has a history like black folks do doesn't mean they can *never* be cast as any type of servant role in fiction, but considering how quick the internet is to get offended, do you think it's gonna be a problem? Like I don't want to get attacked and called racist over this. And I know it's *my* book, I can write whatever I want, but I still would like to know others' opinions.

Can you choose to be guided by Loki after death?

Hi, this is my first time posting here, so I hope I'm asking this right.

I'm not a Lokean myself, at least not in a way that I actively worship Loki as my god. Due to heavy religious trauma, I don't think I'll ever be in a place where I can worship Loki (or anyone) in the way that some of you do with your lovely altars (seriously, some of them are gorgeous) and offerings, candles, etc. but in the few years since becoming aware of Loki and Norse mythology, I've really come to love him as a person, and if I were to ever worship someone it'd be him. That's why I follow the sub and read about your experiences working with him.

Anyway, some months ago I saw someone post something about "belonging" to Loki in a way after death (I'm not sure if that's the word they used, I honestly don't remember) and basically being guided by him as his devotee. So I've been wondering if that's a thing, and if it is, is that possible for someone like me who has a sense of devotion to Loki but isn't an active worshiper? I've been thinking about getting his sigil or bind rune tattooed for a long time, but I don't know if that's enough. Because honestly, if there is an afterlife, and if Loki really exists, I'd like to be guided by him very much.

Again, I'm not super familiar with this whole ordeal, so if I accidentally said something offensive in my post, I apologize in advance.
