Meanwhile, Tom from Myspace is living the good life.

I like it. Is that a realistic representation of tom's life now?

Probably not literally — but it does match the internet mythos around Tom Anderson pretty well.

Tom sold MySpace years before the platform’s collapse became synonymous with social media chaos. Since then, he’s mostly stayed out of public drama, traveled a lot, done photography, and cultivated a reputation as the guy who “won the internet” by cashing out early and disappearing before the modern social-media era got truly exhausting.

That’s why the meme works:

  • He became wealthy early.
  • He avoided becoming a constantly-online billionaire personality.
  • He isn’t usually associated with scandals, political battles, or algorithm wars.
  • He posts mostly landscapes and travel photography instead of culture-war content.

So the cartoon exaggerates reality into symbolism:

  • the sailboat = opting out,
  • the margarita = peace/contentment,
  • the dystopian shoreline = modern internet/social anxiety,
  • “Tom sailing away” = the fantasy of escaping the attention economy.

In real life, he’s not literally drifting away from robot wars with a supermodel on a yacht — but compared to many tech founders, people often see him as someone who exited at exactly the right time.

There is a city in China that has about the same population as New York City, and the only reason why I know of its name or existence is because of a virus which came from there.

Has anyone here, in your understanding of how lucid dreaming works, also learned how to prolong the hypnopompic state of euphoria for minutes after waking up after a nap?

I don't think that I've ever felt anything more amazing.

It must be very gratifying for teachers to teach ambitious and intelligent students and watch them succeed.

As a teenager, I hated school and I saw no hope for anything.

As an adult, being around teenagers feels completely different.

You see some young people from other cultures moving to my culture and being driven to succeed.

You see some people from my own culture taking everything for granted and doing nothing with their opportunities. The second is infuriating.

But the ones who are driven to succeed, to watch them grow and launch themselves into the world must be incredibly gratifying.

Back in the day, people here used to talk about using transcripts to help with Search engine optimization. That sounded wonderful, but I wasn't about to type the entirety of an episode out.

Now that AI just kind of does it automatically for me, I'm wondering if it still helps with SEO, and if it does, where should I stick it?

TL;DR - Where do you all upload your transcripts, and does it still help?
