2024 hybrid consistently getting better MPG with aggressive acceleration

I noticed that my 2024 Tucson hybrid is always getting better MPG on local when I accelerate hard.

The trend is if I accelerate hard and keep it around 30 mph mileage seems better.

Slow accelerations and keeping around 30 don't normally produce the same results. I give the car regular maintenance and haven't had any issues. Still under 20 miles lifetime. Had the car for almost 3 years, purchased new

Anyone else see something similar?

RO water filter 113, how do I clean it?

More so how to clean the insides not the pitcher. I see the manual says to put water + vinegar to clean the big resovoir, cool.

But how about the internal connection/tubing between the resevoir and the pitcher, how can I clean that?

It's not mentioned how to do it in the manual.

Looks like McAfee made its way from LG to Acer laptops :D

Apparently I forgot to pay my McAfee bill on my brand new laptop.

FYI, this popup introduced itself after my first login following the OOBE windows setup.

After I renewed so it would stop nagging me.... JK obviously

But in all seriousness WTF is going on? With windows. I legit just bought this Acer laptop. I don't want to touch Group Policies, poke around the registry or flash Tiny 11 lol.

How do we stop things like this from happening when so many companies are doing BS like this?

P. S. McAfee was preinstalled but this notice is aggressive, deceiving, misleading, <insert whatever words you want>

Unifi u7 lite hates its new home

I ran the ISP test first to make sure it wasnt the actual connection to the modem.

Next I tested WiFi from my living room using my galaxy s24 plus and that was terrible. 20 down and 40 latency

Again while standing lliterally in front of the U7 lite and then got 20 down & 80 latency.

The u7 lite used to sit on top of my homelab computer. This started happening when I moved it far away at the top of a closet.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on and how I can fix it? Why is it still really bad when I'm testing from right in from of it?

If ican at least get the latency to under 20, used to be sub 10, that would be a win!

Slimmest smallest microATX case for a NAS

I unfortunately have to re-case my NAS since we're switching our apartment around.

NAS will be going in the closet.

I need a case that fits a micro ATX board and at least three 3.5 sized HDDs.

Any recommendations?

Need recommendations fo proxmox backup from lvmthin to either borg/restic/something else?

What's the best backup for a proxmox server with multiple VMs. VMs just have docker containers.

One of the VMs is TrueNAS with actual data and stuff.

Is borg or restic good? Feel free to recommend something else as long as it's FOSS

The goal is:

  • have a small backup size since backups will be going over the internet via a WG tunnel
  • Resiliant backups, dont want to have to babysit the backup setup after it's in place or worry a job ran successfully everyday
  • Easy to restore if well..... proxmox crashes

The backup server will also be running AI stuff during the day and it needs to be an ubuntu host OS. will schedule backups overnight, no surprise there

No reason this would fall outta place?

After a year of homelab and chill final readying the 3 in my 1-2-3 backup (feel free to shame me in the comments)

Servers gonna be storing backups and running AI models because realistically after the backup job completes the server has legit no other function for me 🙃

Might run PBS or something still deciding what backup software will be best to store TrueNAS CE and Proxmox backups

The power supply is a montech century II 1050w needed to run my dual r9700 setup. Its going to a family member who's cool with it living there.

Feel free to ask me anything

spent 2 hours troubleshooting my homelab to find that its because pangolin potentially paywalled a feature

For the love of god please tell me I'm crazy or wrong.

I spent my entire evening thinking my opencloud instance was broken only to find pangolin and my docker VM couldn't talk anymore.

I got further down the rabbit hole and logs and see pangolin legit paywalled the wireguard connection. I see this in the console.

Thought to myself maybe a it's a bug. i already had this setup. so I went and made a new site, new credentials no enterprise prompt sweet!

hit save, page still looks good. Go over to the credentials tab and i see the enterprise edition message again.

What in the actual f*%$! I hope im wrong and messed something up. please tell me im stupid and wrong.

Went to the latest opencloud release 7.x.x and realized it has breaking changes, I have no backup

Looking for advice. I don't recall what version I was running before the upgrade unfortunately and went to the latest version.

an hour on google search led me to the "breaking changes" github for opencloud.

is there anyway to roll it back? Assuming opencloud doesn't mangle up the data, the. env file stores data in TrueNAS so would I be able to mount it and pluck it out?

I have been syncing via mobile but the data there is almost a month old.

Really wanna learn a language, no clue which to pick

I really wanna learn coding.

The problem is I don't know what language to pick. I was learning Python from code academy and that was actually going really well but without a purpose I wasted those 6 months.

I didn't have anything to work on, I forgot everything a year later.

Now the question, why do I wanna learn coding? I wanna learn a language I can build something useful / fun with. I do wanna build an android app but should I learn kotlin? But also to keep myself employable as someone who works in IT.

How do people go about learning their first language? Do I just pick a problem / project and brute force learn and try to finish it? Then move onto another language if I wanna do something else?

I'm just really confused 😵‍💫

Thanks in advance.

What is a service you self host but hate self hosting?

I'll go first,

It's TrueNAS CE. I’m not cutting corners on security either — I’m just exhausted by the maintenance. Every service gets its own service account and password because security, dedicated dataset (Immich, Jellyfin, etc.), and folder hierarchies for personal files.

Thing is creating a dataset, service account, SSH-ing into the server, juggling credentials, tweaking fstab… it feels like well... IT administration (LMAO) I know I know, that's kinda why we all do it and I won't stop.

That said, it starting to feel like that Ben Affleck smoking meme and I don't even smoke. So why do I keep doing it? The money and privacy of course Between cumulative subscription fees, family sharing, and data scaling, the cost would’ve easily made me bankrupt. So I went upfront:

  • $700 on a custom built, low power PC
  • $360 for a 3×8TB RAID array (it's being backed up)

What's a service you hate self hosting but won't stop?

What's the software mod scene like for this car?

The Tucson 2024 hybrid software is broken and I would like to tweak some things. Here are a few things that need fixing.

First, the alerts. Super annoying! Saying "traffic camera ahead" and interrupting my music is useless. If you speed in the United States you get ticketed and fined, so I don't want to speed.

Alerts always duck down the music so twice as obnoxious.

Second, even in the winter and with the auto defog auto humidifier and other related features disabled. The car still turns the Air Conditioner on.

Third, it never ever remembers my climate settings. Such a basic feature doesnt work.

Fourth, no a huge deal but I just don't like all the data they steal from drivers. I think we paid a lot of money for our cars and absolutely deserve privacy.

I'm not a software engineer or security guy myself but know my way around Linux. If there were already an exploit to gain shell / root I could start poking around and making some changes.

Pi Agent throwing 3x the CTX windows at the backend server

I'm noticing weird behaviour related to context windows and hoping someone has a fix.

With pi agent, I'm using openai-completions API running off lemonade server. 3 models are connected locally (not at the same time) I have the context window hard coded into the pi config json.

The ctx blows up to about 400k even though I have it set to 128k.

Starting a new chat is the temp fix. Haven't tried to compress the chat yet since idk what the negative effects of that are since I'm working on a coding project.

I removed 6 pi extensions and left the 4 default bash extensions. Still the exact same issue with the same CTX size of over 400k.

Checking lemonade logs and they showing the problem, pi trying to use up too much ctx.

This tells me the chat itself could someone how be the problem.
