4 weeks in to our new rogue and already got cvt issue

Quite literally a Month ago today, my wife traded in her old Hyundai kona to a nissan dealership and ended up getting a 2023 Nissan rogue, which has been a great fit for our family.

Today we were taking it out for a drive around town running’s errands when I pulled into a parking lot and got the infamous “cvt service limp mode” message or something along those lines. Shut the car off then restarted it and it went away and hasn’t came back as of yet, but feeling worried. We’ve only had this car for 30 days and already got this message, plus it’s over the mileage cap on the warranty. I read that after 2020 Nissan improve their cvts and felt confident in the car we got, now I’m freaking out that I just bought a car that’s already done for only a month into owning, there is 0 room in our budget too for an out of pocket repair cost to replace the cvt. Guess just asking here as it’s late and can’t get it in for awhile to a shop.

Gen Z fashion standards slipping?

Not sure really how else to title this post, but is it just me or does it seem like a lot of Gen Z is caring less and less about how they dress and look in public? When I’m talking about dress standards, I’m not saying everyone has to be wearing a tailored suit and dressed to the nines on every public outing, what I’m talking about is the wearing unwashed dirty clothes in public, wearing pyjama pants on a dinner date, wearing clothes that don’t fit well at all etc etc. the big one is pyjama pants, everytime I go out I see people wearing sleep wear in public and all the time they are looking my age or a little younger(I’m 25). Went to a somewhat nice restaurant the other day and had a Gen Z couple sitting a table away from me on a date, girl was pyjama pants and dude was stained sweats. I know most people would agree across all generations that dressing and grooming standards have dropped in society, but for some reason Gen Z seems to be the biggest generation that’s dropped in my opinion.

No name hot dog buns

Shouldn’t have been a surprise, but I was actually caught off guard by my find. Was doing a clean out in our kitchen today when I came across an old unopened 12 pack of no name hot dog buns from superstore in our pantry, we bought a bunch for a backyard campfire party and had a pack that was still unopened. To my absolute surprise, the buns were still as good as new. 0 mold, didn’t feel stale at all, were still soft, my wife immediately pointed out how disturbing that is because we bought these buns months ago! It’s not a surprise that so much of their food as preservatives and stuff, but I was not prepared to find a 4-5 month old pack of buns with 0 mold and not stale…

(Rant) the amount of fisherman related litter at the north Sask is disgusting

Not sure if rant posts are allowed here, but this does directly relate to fishing in Alberta and something that needs to be talked about.

I’m a firm believer in taking care of nature while both fishing and hunting, leaving it better than you found it and clean for many others to come in the future. Today I decided to start my open season off by going to my favourite spot on the north sask(not sharing), which is a boat launch near a bridge. Drove down and parked my truck and was immediately greeted by the sight of litter all over the place, all of it fishing related. Starting off was dozens upon dozens of empty or even half used minnow and shiner containers, the frozen ones you get from Canadian tire, followed by empty hook and spooner wrappers all over the place, fishing line tangled into tree branches. The worst of all? The fucking pickerel rigs. Now I personally already don’t like pickerel rigs because I find them to be utter crap despite what they are hyped up to be, find they tangle so easy and are just a mess to use overall, but my god, they were everything, one tree had like 10 plus sets all netted together wrapped around the tree, the shore line littered with pickerel rigs.

Now I know there are a lot of good fisherman out there who take the time to clean up after themselves, but it’s the small group of fishermen who just don’t care that make the rest of us look like slobs, it’s a bad looks when someone who is a known fisherman walks up to that boat launch and sees fishing related garbage as far as the eye can see, just wanted to share cause I think it’s becoming a real problem that doesn’t get mentioned much. Also not sure what it is with the north Sask, but it seems worse there than any other river or lake I’ve been too when it comes to this issue.

First post here on this sub. I am 25 years old and about to start the online level 1 cwb course. I am currently a ticketed red seal journeyman welder, got my ticket in Alberta but living and working in Saskatchewan. I’ve been welding and working in the welding and piping field since I was 18, I don’t really enjoy the act of physically welding but love the technical aspect of the career and want to get started while I’m still young on a career path for inspections. I asked my current employer is there is much opportunity they can provide me to get me started but was told there isn’t a whole lot they can do, which means I am now starting to look at other jobs more seriously. With all that said looking for some guidance and advice on places to look at and any other tips, I live in a small community and there isn’t much for local shops here so willing to work on the road. Thanks!
