When you get new gear you have to try it out immediately. So I'm sleeping in a tent tonight in our yard even though i have 6.30 wake up tomorrow for work.

Bought Naturhike mongar pro 2 p and it arrived today by mail so obviously immediately after work i had to try and put it together and then came the idea that surely i can sleep there tonight even though it is workday tomorrow and my 6 year old said she will come there as well. So 6.30am alarm for tomorrow from the tent, walk inside the house and hopefully i manage to get her to daycare in time and myself to work. :)

New tent(NH mongar 2 pro) arrived today and my kid convinced me that we sleep there tonight even though we have work and daycare to go tomorrow.

I had watched pretty much all videos on YouTube that there was about the Mongar so setting it up was very easy. I really like how roomy the tent is for 2 people at least now when we don't have any backpacks etc. As we sleep on our yard. If you have any questions about the tent please ask. So far I'm really happy with the build quality. And with 141€ delivered weighing 2.2kg with ground sheet this is pretty incredible value for money.

Repovesi national park, Finland

We went for a day hike on repovesi national park in southern Finland couple of weeks ago. It is beautiful lake and forest scenery. Lots of small hills and lakes between everything. Beautiful trails on nice weather. That is really all you need in life. :)

Day hiking in Kilpisjärvi, Finland. Little Malla fell and Saana fell.

First couple of pictures of Little Malla fell are taken from the climb on top of the Saana fell. 3rd pic is Saana from lake tsahkal and 4th is Saana before the climb. To me Lapland Finland is one of the most beautiful places, fells in Finland are not as high as in Norway for example but there is certain calmness in them. Climb to Saana was first proper hike I've taken in years it was just day hike but it gave me the spark to update my hiking gear and already planning trips with my kid to go on overnight hikes as well.

Got myself toolbox on wheels while back and finally got round to organising my saw tools and accessories in it. It even has room for my fuels underneath.

Teaching my kid camping.

I have plenty of camping gear from my boy scouts era from couple of decades ago but tent i had to lend. First trip we did to our backyard just to keep her excited about camping and keep her mindset positive for when we actually go out hiking. Learning new skills slowly rather than all at once.

Decided to make supper at the tent to have that as another step in the adventure. Still we have indoor to go to change and toilet etc. We will sleep there following night as well and after that i think I need to buy our own tent so we can actually start going on short trails. :)

That particular tent is waay to small to be comfortable for camping for us and also it weighs too much.

Which tent to buy, Naturehike mongar 2 pro or giling 2 pro?

Currently these two seem to be most interesting options for me. Price is reasonable 165€ in naturehike site for both. Both weigh around 2kg.

Usercase will be me 180cm guy camping with my kid now 6yo. Need it to be lightweight as i will be carrying most of the weight but still roomy enough that it would be comfortable for few nights camping at the time.

I'm in Finland so weather even in summer is very rarely above 15C at night i don't think i need fully meshed inside tent.

What i figured is that mongar would have more room higher up in the tent as there is cross pole in the middle but giling might be better in colder environments and better in windy situations.

All comments, criticism, or even ideas on completely different approaches area greatly appreciated.

Sepän parkkihallissa oli tänään suihkulähde.

Tämä pahimman sateen jälkeen, mutta vielä se tuossakin hetkessä ihan reilusti sateli.

I recently started planning camping trips with my kid and figured i had to upgrade some of my old boyscout gear to today's standards.

For cooking i had gotten trangia mini from a friend a while back but wanted to upgrade the burner to gas so i did. Tent I'm lending from my brother for the first couple of trips until i figure out what i actually want to get and i spend one night on CCF pad and halfway through the night realised i need an upgrade and found exped dura 3R on sale and it seems to be good enough for me. Testing the bad tonight indoors just to make sure. Hopefully in couple of weeks me and my kid can go to first adventure together. It will most likely be just on our summercottage yard so there's accomodations if things don't work out like we plan.

I'm so excited to get back into camping after almost 20 year pause on longer trips.

If you have a chance, go to national parks and enjoy the nature.

I visited repovesi national park on Saturday and it is such a beautiful place. Many people know about these but maybe some don't. There was around 200 cars in the same parking lot when we went there but even then on average you got to walk on the pathways completely on your own.

Kyllä kesä on ihmisen parasta aikaa vaikka kesälomat on jo menneetkin.

Milloin ootte muuten viimeksi nähneet vaskitsan (kuva 5) mulla oli useampia vuosia välissä, mutta tänään nähtiin kaksi muutama kilometri oli välissä matkaa.

Do people have experience on exped dura 3r mw sleeping pad?

I'm 180cm and 95kg and trying to find good pad for reasonable price and that particular pad is currently on sale for 100€ in my local stores. I'm side and back sleeper with bit of issues with my back so i would like to have decent solution without braking a bank. At least that dura is advertised to be long lasting as well.

Kaikki vinkit otetaan vastaan.

TLDR: 2 hengelle väljä ja halpa teltta ja 100 kiloiselle kyljellään nukkujalle hyvä ja halpa makuualusta. Vinkkejä otetaan vastaan.

New DIY case for my dji Neo

Bought myself a drone recently and wanted to make carrying case so that i don't have to worry about it when thrown in the trunk of my car. Found old aluminium box and shaped bit of foam and glued them together so that now my setup is pretty much ready to fly just opening the case. Bit of a overkill i know but i like it.

▲ 131 r/Sauna+2 crossposts

Me and my brothers have been building a sauna for quite some time and past 4 days we did the assembly of the cabin and installed roof.

We started the project 1.5 years ago by felling the trees, we have done everything ourselves and finally it was time to get the cabin up from the ground. Build assembly took over hundred man hours divided to 4 days. There is still so much work to do including making the door opening correct size and making door, window installing ceiling and insulation. This is going to be a sauna so also making sauna heater and benches is big projects. But getting it this far is such an achievement as this assembly "weekend" was around 15th weekend we have been doing all the preassembly and cutting wood and shaping it. If you have any questions please ask, from my post history you can find posts from previous steps of the project.

Assembly phase of traditional Finnish log cabin that will be a sauna once ready. Zero hardware used during the video for the cabin itself.

We have started by felling and chainsaw milling the trees 1.5 years ago and during last winter we did the preassembly and carving of the logs. Now during final assembly we added red stemmed moss as insulation and wooden dowels to keep the structure more solid. Dimensions of the cabin on the inside are 2.9m x 2.9m and height is 2.5m. We have been doing this with my brothers and dad about one weekend per month and it was finally time to get the cabin built. Next step is to build roof and then everything that needs to be built inside like floor, sauna benches, ceiling including insulation etc. and sauna heater. If you have any questions about the build don't hesitate to ask me.

Kesän kohokohta on istua yksin mökkirannassa saunan jälkeen ja katsella auringonlaskua lintujen laulua kuunnellen.

That feeling when you have been working one weekend per month for 1.5 years and finally it is time to assemble the log cabin sauna. Around 2/3 f the logs in place in one day.

Some of you have been following this sauna build from the beginning. I'm so happy we are finally in assembly phase of the cabin. After we get the roof on it is still going to be months and months before we have floor, ceiling heater and everything else made and installed as we do pretty much every ourselves and have time around weekend per month to come together with my brothers and dad to build this.
