New Mini

Been window shopping for a bit and finally did the deed today. A pleasant surprise was the increase of $10 in my trade value for my Mini 5 (which was WiFi & Cellular)!

I can finally ditch all the lightning charging cables, as everything is USB-C.

Ended up with the same specs -256 GB storage but opted for no cellular.

Now for some case shopping!

Whopper Wednesday

I finally tried the ‘new’ Whopper. I have not had one in several years and I will say, it’s pretty good.

Extra pickle, extra mayo and added BBQ sauce.

Getting down to business

About to grill some chicken skewers. Well, as soon as the briquettes are ready.

It’s never a good start when…

It’s never a good thing when the first 8 hours of a new sensor starts out like this.

First hour - LOW readings when you’re not.
And I did have to calibrate it (I know, I know…breaking the cardinal rule of no calibrations in the first 24).

Then a sensor error this afternoon.

Now, I usually ‘soak’ my new sensor for the 12 hour grace period of the previous sensor. But my previous sensor decided to give it up overnight (pour one out for my homie - zero sugar, of course).

Oh well, it was a good run of sensors since September 22, 2025 with no failures until last night.

Hopefully this one goes the straight and narrow and does not look back.

Confirmation of model

Hi all. Looking to order some parts and do some refurb on my grill. I am pretty sure that this is a Genesis 330.

Just need the collective expertise and wisdom to confirm that I am correct.

Unfortunately, my manual got lost somewhere along the way and the sticker is way worn for part number or serial number.

First time trying

I have never seen this locally (Central New York). So, I picked up a couple 12 packs while in North Carolina, while getting our daughter from college. (Side rant- Wegmans limits so many SKUs/choices, it’s amazing to walk into a Harris Teeter and see all the choices!)

My review - it’s good. But it does not beat Cherry Coke. That is still the GOAT of cherry flavored sodas to me.

It reminds me of Luden’s cough drops but not in a bad way. The cherry is bit overwhelmed by the sweetness. Maybe it’s the Dr. Pepper flavors not playing well with the cherry. Not sure.

Would I get it again? Probably not.

How does it compare to Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut? No comparison. That is the GOAT of Dr. Pepper flavors in my book.

Edit - meant to say this was tried over ice. I have started chilling the cans in the fridge and will go with straight tasting too. Given the ice melting and it’s still giving a sweet over the cherry…we’ll see.

This sensor has been an exasperating one for it’s initial couple of days.

Inserted on 4/29 and “soaked” for 12 hours while the previous one finished its grace period. Initially, read low readings compared to a finger stick.

Overnight between 4/29 and 4/30 had consistent low readings. Ok, did a calibration and seemed to be on track.

Late afternoon/evening of 4/30, got a huge period of sensor error, all while officiating two lacrosse games. Finally it gets back to reading/sending results after I am done with the games.

Wake up this morning to an overnight of low readings, again. Recalibrate (again) within the 10% of current reading and it barely moved.

Decided to “soak” a replacement and will be switching later today.

Looking at my spreadsheet, it was a good run. 10 in a row of full time!! It had to end at some point, I guess.
