Time to Address black money transactions and Tax Evasion in Sowcarpet.
Sowcarpet and its surrounding areas are dominated by a particular community from North India. Crores of rupees in cash transactions happen there every day. Most businesses, from small shops to large jewellery stores, refuse UPI or card payments and insist on cash. Even when customers ask for a bill, many provide only a handwritten slip instead of a proper GST invoice. This has been going on for years, yet there seems to be little action or scrutiny from the authorities.
