"Golden age of stereo" Myth or Real?

When I got into classical I got recommended DG like I assume everyone else, later I learned about BIS (my favorite) and Hyperion whom I get most of my music, but recently I've been hearing more and more about how labels from the 50s to 60s made some of the best sounding records ever, I assumed bs at first but after listening to some Decca and RCA I'd say they are far better than any other music recorded in that time, but honestly I still think that modern recordings sound better, though my headphones aren't the very best.

What do you y'all think? those who have good playback systems which one do you prefer? Does the quality of those record unlock the better your gear is?

Feeling insecure about my taste

Hello, I know this might seem stupid to some of y'all but it's really been bugging me recently, I feel kind of weird with how much I love classical music, I especially love the baroque and romantic period, the problem is that I'm starting to doubt myself of why is such old music my favorite. The insecurity especially hits when people ask what kind of music I enjoy and I feel awkward saying classical, I'd say what bugs me most is how old it is, even other music genres I love like jazz and soul are mostly albums from the 50s to the 70s or something like that.
Do any of you guys feel this way? Especially if you are young, how did you overcome this feeling?

Edit: thanks y'all for the kind words, my problem isn't so much that my taste doesn't aline with my friends, it's that I feel weird liking music so old, like I wish my music taste wasn't frozen in a very old period.

Best games for the Iris Xe 96EU?

Hello! what are the best games I can run? be it indie or old, I love games that are gameplay first like boomer shooters and roguelikes, though I'm open to pretty much anything as long as the gameplay is good.

Do you buy from GOG on principle of actual concern?

Do you think steam might delete your games or revoke your access as a genuine possible threat, or do you buy from GOG just as a matter of principle to support DRM-free gaming? Would love to see what y'all think about this topic.

Best indie games to pick up during these sales

I'm thinking of picking up Dusk and Hrot, what are some other games to check out? I'll play pretty much any genre if the gameplay is engaging, I'm also thinking of games like Katana ZERO and The Messenger.

Do you still buy from other stores?

Do you still use Steam or other stores? do you buy a game that is available on GOG only from GOG? or do you take it game by game basis.

Steam or GOG?

Hello! I'd like to start my Imm Sim journey and I can't decide whither to buy on GOG or Steam, specifically I've been eying the Deus Ex bundle, currently on GOG it's 9$ for all the games, but do you think owning the games on Steam will be better? or when I'd want to play more Imm Sims, please let me know!

Recommend me some games to get started that work on anything

Hello, I want to get into boomer shooters since they seem like pure fun, what are some games you recommend I get started that'll work on a non gaming laptop perfectly, of course I know the classics like Doom 1 + 2 and Wolfenstein 3d but I'm not really interested in playing something that old.

Edit: Contrary to what I said, I ended buying Doom 1&2, mainly because the mods kick ass, especially Brutal Doom and I'm looking forward to Ashes.

What can we do to improve GOG?

Other than just buying of course, but what else can we do to spread GOG or make it a better gaming platform?

Edit: I think it would really help GOG if some big gaming YouTuber recommends their store, maybe we can try bringing it to the attention of YouTubers that value ownership and digital rights?
