Took some of my favorite non-ported pistols to the range today: the Athena, TTI Viper, and Nighthawk TRS Commander.
All three shot phenomenally.
I ran 124gr Blazer Brass and 124gr Winchester NATO through them. Zero issues with feeding, firing, or extracting.
The only downside was being reminded just how dirty of those loads can be.
That said, I’ll keep buying and shooting them because the price is hard to beat and they’ve been reliable for me.
Have a great week, everyone.
Been busy the past couple of weeks, but I finally made it back home. I took my stock TTI Viper and my ported Noveske G19X build with me, and I still very much enjoy my striker-fired pistols.
I also brought the Gun Butter pen, and it ended up being the perfect size for the trip.
Wilson Combat oil and Lucas Oil are what I’ve preferred in the past, but the convenience of the pen really stood out.
I was able to get in two range sessions, and both guns ran flawlessly. I shot 124-grain Supervel Certified Select on both occasions without a single issue. So far, this ammo has been 100% reliable for me.
My C2 is an easy choice for me. It can be a carry, range, or nightstand gun. Just put the PMM Comp back on there today because it’s going to the range for some fun, then I’ll put it on my nightstand for the next few weeks. Solid and easy choice for a do-it-all type gun. IMO
MJD grip, red dirt trigger, EGW internals and ports were done by Hibiscus Tactical, solid work and even better person.
Tier 1 Concealed MSP holster always comes in clutch! Have a great week everyone.
Ended up putting a SRO on one of my Vipers to see what it looked like. Aesthetically, the RMR HD looks great on there, but so does the SRO. When on the range, I prefer the SRO. This one is going to get sent out for porting. After shooting it , I can’t resist the idea of knowing what porting would do to the set up. I’m in no hurry, so I’m taking my time to see who I will send it to for porting.
Carrying my NH TRS Commander today. Recently shot a ported one, and while the porting definitely made a difference, I still prefer my non-ported setup. Probably because I have a couple thousand rounds through mine and know it so well. My TRS Commander is still one of my favorites.
🤘
Both are great shooters. I’ve really been enjoying the Island Barrel Viper the most.
Overpriced, but definitely fun to shoot and have in my collection.
The Atlas Athena just checks so many boxes. JMO
3.9–4.6 options. I enjoy shooting all of them. Different setups for different uses, and everyone’s gonna gravitate toward something different. At the end of the day, different strokes for different folks.
Athena is my choice, alongside the Fowler.
I will say that the I’ve really been enjoying the TTI Viper Island Barrel.
The ZEV Hypercomp didn’t want to be left out. 😂
Before anything, enjoy Memorial Day with your friends and family.
“Enjoy the freedom, but remember the price that was paid for it. 🇺🇸”
A friend ordered 2 Custom Vudoo Priest Carry a year ago and they finally arrived. He’s since gone back to shooting striker fired again and sold it to me at a good price.
I’ve heard some online chatter about the company, but man let me tell you the ones that we got run amazingly good! Not saying the company is not a mess or didn’t screw people over but mine is worth the price. The serial numbers on these are in the low 300’s.

You’re probably wondering how I got here. 🤣💀
It was 3 a.m., I started doom scrolling, and well, this was the result.
I’m aware of the compatibility/fitment concerns.
I’m gonna let my gunsmith look at them to see what he thinks.
These HD’s have been great duty/edc guns for me in their original form. This was just to see if it would fit.
Don’t take this post too seriously everyone. Have a great day!
FDE and DLC Vanta’s. Both look and shoot phenomenal. No complaints on my end. Next is the Tuxedo finish. I’mHave a great week everyone.
Flux Raider, MPX-K, Legion 365 AXG.
I’ve been contemplating building one myself, but I recently came across one in the DFW area.
Gen 5 internals.
The porting, stippling, and Cerakote work were all done locally as well by Tommy Gunn Customs I believe.
I plan to take it to the range on Saturday and fire some rounds through it.
.
Couple range days coming up. Need the reset!
The Athena has a permanent place in my range bag, but lately, this TRS Commander has also become a favorite. I recently bought a bunch of Blazer 124 and some 124 Supervel certified select ammunition, so that’s what I’ll be shooting.
A couple of years ago, I ordered some boots from the Lucchese website. I had always gotten lucky and received exactly what I had ordered. However, this time, not so lucky. Lucchese offered to either refund or exchange them. I ended up liking them.
The more I shoot them, the more they become some of my favorite pistols to take to the range or carry. 🔥🤘
I bought these when Shepler’s was still around and sold Lucchese’s. I believe it was the Mesquite, TX location.
Size 11 D, they ran a bit small..
Happy Friday!
This is an incredible piece. It’s easy to shoot/handle.
Everyone in my family loves this one. It’s definitely an heirloom.
For those who might ask about quality control issues that people have mentioned, this is not one of those guns. This TRS was made right.
Enjoy your day, everyone.
These wild caught Giant Alligators have a pretty gnarly scar that I like on my left foot boot. Pics aren’t the best.
Have a great day everyone.
