Charley Crockett keeps coming for JW

From his Instagram:

"Hey Jack, you might get 6 into me before I get 1 into you but I don’t miss. And actually I ain’t that young. I got 300 songs out and 150 unreleased plus a new record on the way which puts me about even with your entire career output in a third the time. To quote Jay Z, “you sound a little naive in those articles I read”, talking about just last fall you had to stop watching the news, vicious cycle, somethin’, somethin’, somethin…..you’re getting too old for this shit Mr. Suzy Cream Puff. I was born in 1984 surrounded by cotton fields and I never trusted the media from the beginning. That goes for my whole generation old man. The younger they get the less they trust the machine. What wore you out on the media? Epstein Files? pandemic? 9/11 wasn’t enough? Gulf war 1? Gulf War 2? The end of Net Neutrality? The telecommunications act? Vietnam? How bout JFK getting offed in Dallas back in 1963? You know all this. But like Trump or any politician, you play to your base. I don’t care what you said in you’re songs. I’m talking about your public statements back when it was on the line in 2003. Look up my first record A Stolen Jewel. I been about it. Lemme guess, you got Che Guevara and Malcolm X on your shelf, maybe even Fred Hampton, but at the end of the day you get in the Lamborghini and put your kids in private school. I’ve seen behind the same curtain as you, and if you don’t play it just like they say they’ll never let you on the radio. So how’d you get on there? Ask UMG about CC, they hate me because they couldn’t own me. But I digress…The point is some art kids lied for publicity at my expense and you poured gas on it stereotyping me at a glance. Go ahead and conveniently ignore the fact that they lied. Same hypocrisy as the demagogues you claim to stand against. Lucky it was me, too strong to beat, around long enough not to let it kill me, but when that kind of public shame gets dumped on some poor kid who ain’t ready it might mean their life. Happens everyday big hoss. If you want the smoke, I’m your man."

My personal opinion about that is this is just straight up pathetic at this point. Charley is SO HURT about most people not taking his side on this debacle (even before Jack kind of inserted himself in it) that he just can't help but to make things worst.

Charley Crocket changes his version of the Twin Temple debacle (again)

From his Instagram:

"I gotta clear this up right quick. I never dropped that band from those 2 shows for “Satanic Imagery”, they made it up and dragged me by a rope real good. It all started about a month before those shows while we were off in Wyoming. Their production requests raised eyebrows simply because we couldn’t accommodate them physically. Then I noticed some of the things they’d been doing on stage and after thinking about it for a couple days I decided to cut em loose. We told em the vibe just wasn’t right for an all ages audience, and we paid em in full. They got together with their business folks and plotted for days before finally making their public statement, designed for effect. Purposely making it look like it was a whole tour. Dog whistling about religious and creative freedom. Of course my rights didn’t matter since they had a new record coming out and a headline tour of their own to announce. It’s my fault, I let ‘em slip through and being that this here’s my outfit, I’m the responsible party. I reacted. I might respond differently now but everybody’s got perfect vision in hindsight. I think the most difficult part of the whole deal was the way the media, save for one outlet, cared nothing for the truth. They sanitized these folks’ image for their own uses in the click bait traffic game that is America’s left-right culture war. Or maybe it was all the artists I know who had their hand out showering me with praise the last few years that used the situation to kick me in the dick. I ain’t the one holding you down. And I won’t forget that when I was face down in the dirt coughing up blood you applauded. As for Jack White, he used it to sell tickets too and I lost a lot of respect for him. I wonder why he wasn’t so outspoken back when he was in the white stripes 20 something years ago. They purposely avoided political issues. Maybe he was worried about losing audience back when it was all on the line and he needed all the help he could get. Funny, I’ve got everything to lose right this minute and I still shoot from the hip. I’ve been speaking from my heart against the wishes of the machine my whole life. Real patriots think for themselves."

It's pretty ridiculous him coming for Jack White when there are actually plenty of White Stripes songs with strong political messages and he's always been outspoken about that. I'm not even going to elaborate further on him changing his version of the story once again, but it's pretty clear that he has a difficult time accepting that a lot of people see him differently after all that.

Charley Crocket goes on another semi-coherent self-indulgent ramble about the Twin Tribes situation

The comments section is also a shit show.

At least it’s good to see which artists are with or against him on this one.

Sierra Ferrel being fiercely religious was not on my bingo card. But in some way, I’m also not surprised.

EDIT: The correct name of the band is Twin Temple. I misspoke on the title. Twin Tribes is a different band.

[Sapsterr] Put Hronek with Buium, hope it helps Buium reach his ceiling, and once the NMC switches to an NTC (or as that time approaches), ship Hronek out the door.

That's 100% in line with what I believe. If Hronek gets traded (and agrees to waive his NMC), Willander (!) would likely be the highest ranking RD. That's scary. Keep Hronek for a while, have him help the kids develop, and sell him after a season or two.

Buium is our most talented U23 player and he'd be the one that would benefit the most from having Hronek around. I know the prices now are crazy, but there's so much value in keeping Fil a bit more.

ESPN's "Trades we'd like to see during the 2026 NHL offseason"

This one was done by Ryan S. Clark:

"Why it works: Perhaps the easiest way to digest this hypothetical is looking at what it means for each team involved.

The Avalanche have a chance to make some adjustments to their roster after being swept in the Western Conference finals. The sweep led to questions about secondary offense and the power play. DeBrusk is a forward who could deliver solutions to those questions. His 19 power-play goals last season were third in the NHL, and his ability to get to the net front also gives the Avs another way to score goals at 5-on-5.

No matter what happens with Alex Ovechkin, the Capitals still have areas of their roster worth addressing. Washington has developed a strong collection of promising options who are either natural wingers, or centers who can play on the wing. But adding more experience could help a team that missed the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot by four points. In Nichushkin, they would add an experienced, two-way winger who also fits within their organizational belief to have size up front (Nichushkin is 6-foot-4). Furthermore, as a three-time 20-goal scorer, he would help a team that finished 15th in goals per game last season.

Vancouver's priority at the moment is doing whatever it can to make its future stronger. Moving on from DeBrusk in any potential trade comes with the belief that the Canucks can turn a five-time 20-goal scorer into more draft capital. In this scenario, they land the first-round pick the Capitals received from the Anaheim Ducks in the John Carlson trade, along with the third-round pick the Avalanche received from the Nashville Predators in the Ross Colton trade. This would give them picks No. 3, 18 and 24, which could boost that rebuild."

Sportsnet and CBC announce the end of their partnership. What does that mean for HNIC and public broadcasting?

With the end of the partnership, does that mean the public will not be able to watch HNIC unless they have Sportsnet?

Sorry my understanding of broadcasting regulation is quite minimal.

[Friedman/Spector] Sources: Darnell Nurse asks for trade, agrees it's time to move from Oilers

The Canucks NEED to be on this one. That's probably the best opportunity they'll have to acquire draft capital by taking a bad contract.

I know he's got a NMC, but maybe coming to a rebuilding team with almost no pressure to win right now would be good for him to decompress and maybe find his game back.

EDIT: People pointed out in the comments that MP29 should be part of the trade and it makes a ton of sense to me. Oilers get somewhat of a replacement for Nurse's minutes and the Canucks keep having only 1 veteran LHD, still keeping 2 spots on the left side for youngsters. Oilers would definitely need to juice up the trade with picks, likely a 1st, but player-wise this would make sense for both.

[Thomas Drance] Canucks mock draft 3.0: Options for Vancouver’s top picks coming into focus

The article has the Canucks drafting:

  • 3 - Caleb Malholtra
  • 24 - Alexander Command
  • 33 - Mathis Preston
  • 41 - Casey Mutryn

If that's how things end up being it's a home run for the club imo. Altough it's likely Command will be gone once they call up the 24th pick.

[Vancouver Canucks] General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the Canucks have named Daren Hermiston Director of Player Personnel and Player Development.

From the Canuck's press release:

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the club has named Daren Hermiston Director of Player Personnel and Player Development.

“Daren brings a wealth of hockey knowledge to our group, from so many different parts of the game,” said Johnson. “Not only were we impressed by his recruiting skills from being a player agent, but also his ability and understanding of how to help develop players who have different skillsets and abilities. He has also been involved in several sports business ventures as well, things that should translate well into his new role with the team. We are very excited to have Daren join our organization.”

Hermiston joins the Canucks from THE.TEAM, a global sports, music, and entertainment company, where he has served as an NHLPA Certified Player Agent representing players in the NHL, AHL, and junior hockey. The Kamloops, BC native has worked as an NHL Agent since 2009, beginning with Points West Sports & Entertainment before the agency was acquired by Wasserman and later rebranded as THE.TEAM.

Prior to his career as a player agent, Hermiston studied Business Administration at Thompson Rivers University and has also served as a guest lecturer in Sports and Entertainment Marketing at Simon Fraser University.

Cam's Consensus latest Scout's Poll has Stengerg at 3rd, and the Ruck brothers at 24 and 33. Would you be happy with that?

If all pieces fall into place, that'd be a fantastic draft for the Canucks imo. Stenberg is my favorite "top of the draft" player, and having the twins would be, at the very least, a good story (they also have tons of potential).

The biggest surprise to me in that list is Villeneuve falling that much.

[Ben Nicholson-Smith] Some Jays updates:

All these injuries to the rotation sucked, but one thing that was clear about last year's WS is that a lot of the Dodgers starting pitchers were actually rested because they were injured through the year.

Maybe the fact that our pitchers aren't getting that many games could be a good thing when October comes around.

Please recommend me stuff similar to Jake Penrod

Just found out about Jake Penrod and I've become instantly obsessed! Holy cow!

He's got melodies for days! Love especially his slower and more melancholic tunes mixed up with that old honky-tonky production.

Please recommend me more stuff like him.

For reference, some of my favorite "modern" acts (not necessarily all that similar to him): Benjamin Tod, Colter Wall, Jesse Daniel and Kade Hoffman.
