Bride here - what dress code to use?

Hey yall, we’re doing a very small (20-25 people) wedding in January in north Texas. The reception is a late luncheon at an upscale restaurant, with no DJ or dancing. What dress code should I put on invites?

Our friends and family are a casual bunch but I’ve known them to go all out for Halloween, so I’d like to assume dressing up won’t be too bothersome for them. Of course, I wouldn’t want anyone to go out of their way to purchase a floor length dress or rent a tux, so Black Tie or even BTO are out of the question. However, if I put “semi-formal” or “cocktail attire”, I’m afraid many might be underdressed for the one “fancy” party we’re throwing our whole lives.

Should I just ask for “formal dress code”? Or provide more details? What wording doesn’t suck, but conveys that we’d like them to put effort into their appearance?

In need of styling

Hiii I picked a dress that’s beautiful, elegant, and chic, but I’m afraid it’s a bit too simple just on its own. I’m kinda at a loss of how to style it.

We’re doing a courthouse ceremony and a lunch reception at a restaurant. The wedding is in January in Texas, so could be warm-ish, could be freezing cold. I’m planning to get a vintage fur stole for warmth (slide #3 is the inspo).

I also reeeeally want a veil (it’s my second wedding and I didn’t wear one at my first, but now I really want to feel bridal). What kind of veil style would you recommend?

I’m attaching pics of me in the dress and with some accessories. I’m not sure about the gloves and the scarf, but I’m open. I also tried it with a birdcage veil (not visible here as I covered my face) but I didn’t love that look. My hair is going to be a chin length bob, and it’s wavy/curly - I’m not sure how to style it either.

Thank you!!

Hiii I picked THE dress with y’all’s help (I posted here but had delete because the noob me forgot to blur the faces). I think it’s beautiful, elegant, and chic, but afraid it’s a bit too simple just on its own. I’m kinda at a loss of how to style it.

Restaurant for a wedding

I’m looking for an upscale vibe restaurant that can host 25-30 people for a daytime wedding. I’ve looked into Sanford House and it’s my favorite option so far, but it’s turning out to be a little pricey (almost $4k or so). Is it delusional of me to hope for something cheaper but still classy looking? Also open to nearby towns (GP, Duncanville, Desoto).

Thank you!

Which one?

EDIT I bought the second dress today!! Thank you for all your opinions; they were so helpful. I took my mom to a second appt today. She liked the first dress more, but even though it was very similar and more affordable, I just kept pulling at the drapes, and the corset corners were bending outwards because of the thinner fabric. The sleeve dress (Princess Leia vibes) felt off, despite being more “suited” for a winter wedding. I do not want to look or feel like a princess, more like an old Hollywood star. The thicker dress with fixed drapes just felt like “the one”.❤️

I’m torn between two (three?) dresses options. The first two are nearly identical (shown here in pics 1-4, both worn without and with accessories), but the first one has a leg slit and is made out of a thinner silk material vs the other one, which is thicker satin, but it’s also more expensive. Unfortunately, I tried both with silly cotton undies that gave me an ugly outline underneath the dress, but by the wedding time, I’m planning to wear shapewear for smoothness.
The last dress (pics 5-6) does not look great in pictures but I felt beautiful in it. It’s also a bit cheaper but not by much. The wedding is in January, so longer sleeves are appreciated, but I’m afraid that it won’t look good in the photos.

What do you recommend? Get dress 1, 2, or 3? Or keep looking? I have to decide whether I’m buying one of these in the next few days.

Thank you!!
