Which theories about covid (that never materialized) am I forgetting from this list?

In 2020-2021 I remember the following:

There will be martial law

Project blue beam (dont even remember how this was involved anymore)

The vaccine is a mass sterilization project

The virus is a mass population die off project

5G towers help covid spread

Anyone remember the others? i remember constantly asking “so in 5 years when nome of that happens, will you finally start questioning how you get information?”

How can I try dirtbiking nearby without a truck?

Is there anywhere around that will bring a rental dirtbike to a good spot for riding them? I tried roostertail but both their phone and website are dead.

Those who have used BOTH the $80-120 iSUPs on amazon but also more expensive ones - how noticeable is the difference really?

All three of my iSUPs have been from amazon for pretty much exactly $80 (when “on sale” from $120). Curious if im really missing out on much. I only do rivers and ocean (and want to get into more whitewater)

Should I hide the fact that I spend ~15% of my time on non-biostats tasks (more bioinformatics related)?

Currently interviewing. Part of my job is to rotate with our large bioinformatics team and handle requests from physicians relating to patients. these are never stats tasks, its running other peoples (our bioinformatics team) python scripts or checking patient level data that is on various servers i ssh into. all handled in terminal

I was asked before if i “enjoy” doing that and I think I was honest and said i dont really mind it since it helps me learn more about our company - but i didnt say yes either.

Going to be fired maybe and wondering how fair that is given i am not even a bioinformatics scientist

I am a statistician (MS in stats, no comp sci background, learned SAS and R only), not a bioinformatics scientist which is what the other 18 employees are in my department. I help design studies and analyze data using R. Lots of writing in word (protocols, submissions, analysis plans, proposals). I use terminal to manage whats on github and to run a couple of the scripts.

I’m about to be fired because I occasionally “help” do bioinformatics type requests. I usually have no idea what the many acronyms are, and dont know much about bioinformatics in general. There are always new apps, new acronyms, new things going on in their world and I have 0 meetings with them, so I just dont know about or understand what they do. But I follow instructions for these requests that come in occasionally which are usually pretty basic, I have a list of 23 types of requests and how to handle them. 3 months ago, I was shown how to handle the question “can you check if there is a gene rearrangement in <acronym> data?“

i was shown what to do in the terminal, which was grep <gene> script, and what to say given the output. Easy. I never used it though, so sort of forgot about it. But i added it to my list.

Then last week a request came through of “can you check if a gene fusion was filtered out of the <another acronym> data”

to me that seemed like a new request. check if something was filtered out of acronym1 vs evidence of rearrangement in acronym2.

So i checked our wiki, found the relevant instructions, which only consisted of a script where you put in the patient ID. So i ran the script, and i got a permission denied error. Then i asked for help, and they showed me you have to do grep <gene> script. Because i didnt know to do grep <gene> in front of script which my boss feels he already taught me 3 months ago, my boss implied that i am unable to help with bioinformatics requests, and therefore, that i should be fired. Even though this is something i do for maybe 5% of my job

am i going insane or does that seem slightly unfair? I feel they should either have the wiki be usable for someone like me, or just let me do my stats work without expecting me to really understand bioinformatics stuff.

Is this infection or just irritation?

Second to last tooth (the whiter tooth) is a crown that was placed 6 days ago over my strauman implant (implant was placed 8 months ago it has taken me forever to get the crown). Notice the swelling in pics 1 and 2 whereas pic 3 (other side of my mouth) has none.

Is this normal swelling after placing a crown or did the area somehow get infected? They did mention blood and said its because the tissue was trying to grow around the screw (which is why it hurt when they unscrewed and rescrewed it)

Wondering if i need to go back to the dentist

Can’t put skewer through cause this guy is filled in…

Edit: ignore this, I just had to drill it out

But it’s near impossible to remove it since twisting it just twists the other side too

Can someone help me understand the saturated fat content of sablefish?

https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/wild-alaskan-black-cod-sablefish-with-miso-marinade-082054

This thing is delicious. But as an overweight person with high LDL I’m concerned about the 125% of your daily allotted saturated fat. No oil seems to be added per the ingredient list so-

a) why does it have so much (25g per 40g of protein) saturated fat when everything online says sablefish is very high in fat but supposedly not saturated fat?

b) are they including the skin with these nutrition facts? i hope I don’t have to eat the skin to get all the healthy fat cause I’m not a fan

Sorry to the door dasher I gave a crap tip to and misgendered

You rang bell, I came out, name did not match our apartment and we didn’t order anything. So I just said sorry about that since we don’t have names of the other tenant anywhere and I haven’t met them.

Then we realized (well my wife did, based on the sender initials) it was a friend in a different country sending us something as a joke, so we ran back downstairs and outside and I figured the sender would’ve already tipped (which he did thank god) but I grabbed the cash in my wallet anyway (which was just $2) to tip as apology for the confusion and then instinctively I just said “thanks man” and then as we went inside my wife said “you definitely just misgendered them btw”, as you are likely not in fact a he. I was flustered and not even thinking about it. Sorry human!

Have you ever ridden a horse and it destroyed your groin? (or in general destroyed your groin?)

I rode once as a kid and it was awesome. I was excited to go again in my 30s out in the desert. But the horse was huge (as in wide, they gave me the biggest one cause I was one of two guys among like 20 riders), so my legs were spread out which I never really do. And then THREE times the horse took off running, and the crazy bouncing I can confidently say wrecked my groin.

Its my only ever chronic injury, 1.5 years later my hips and groin still feel fucked whenever I run or do a hike. I feel 65 at 38.

PT advised some Copenhagen planks but they hurt and don’t seem to help. Anyone else experience this?

Last place someone with 3k hours would look for a base?

Trying to hide my base from my friend. I think he likes to build on the west most side of the map, in the mountains. I know jungle would be easier especially since it’s far away but I hate that place.

any tips?

Fun things to do Memorial weekend?

My wife and I are new here and like fun outdoorsy things, any specific stuff happening memorial weekend? We just did a race so not doing the 5k. Big fan of water, would love to some river activities or e-foiling or lake freediving / diving somewhere that rents wetsuits if anyone knows any
