im so sick of begging for help

hi all as 19f diagnosed with patellfemoral instability and patellafemoral pain syndrome

I have been diagnosed by physiotherapist since age 12, i have done exercises/physical therapy for months at a type with a physio, then gone and done my own exercises but still symptomatic, rinse and repeat. I'm at the point where im on month 6 again of physio. I'm tired.

My physio doesnt believe mri is necessary as he is certain I have a shallow groove which can only be supported with exercise and strength but im in so much pain.

but hes refered me now to a doctor I saw years ago who didnt take any action. Also now getting an xray and ultrasound before my consultation with his doctor, which isnt for a few months.

Im just so tired.

I've been taking prescription painkillers as PRN and a lot of the time i cant walk.

I use to be an amazing runner but I haven't been able to run, jump or bear weight properly since I was 12-13..

this is impacting my mental and physical health so much. im at breaking point.

I just needed to rant. Have a nice day everyone

ive tried to quit so many times

hi all

im a young adult, ive been vaping heavily for 6 years and during that time have dabbled in tobacco and other type of smokes.

Over the past year ive been trying to quit. A lot of my friends around me (or ex friends eben) have always labelled me for years as a complete addict and that if im not smoking the world isnt spinning. I have tried so hard. I hate patches, sprays, zyns all of it ive tried them. I've gone cold Turkey and quit for a few months at a time.

I actually stopped from about late march to mid June but then my brain wanted to "reward" itself with buying one vape and now its turned into 4. My 4th has just died and I want it to end.

I have bad health anxiety so any time I am vaping I'm consistently thinking about all the damage I am doing to myself. I also have a very bad relationship with the thought of dying and freak myself out knowing this will kill me quicker yet it never stops me.

When i do quit for those months its hard as you all know, it gets easier but the fact it never goes away is really hard. I also work in an environment where everyone smokes which just adds to it unfortunately. I also have a lot of stressors in my life which just adds ontop.

Any advice?? I just needed to rant and im more than happy to have a conversation.

Thanks in advanced

my house got broken into today

hi all, short summary but 8hrs ago it was midnight and i was home alone for a night for the first time ever (im an adult but its always been my biggest fear dokething would happen).

out of any day of my life my house was broken into while I was home with aggression.

this also happened after I had to take my 16yr old cat to the vet and was diagnosed with end of life hesrt disease on the same day

I know it's only been 8hrs but I dont know how know how recover. im at my boyfriends house but I cant sleep and all I can do is replay the what ifs and rethink every moment.

honestly anytging even if its not advice and just a chat is appreciated. I dont mind talking about it or responding to questions I just couldn't be bothered to type the whole thing because who even knows if anyone will see this

Help! Potential heart issues?

Hi all! my cat is 16 and went to the vet for an infection which is now being treated with antibiotics. upon this they noticed a grade 4 heart mumur. Blood tests came back perfect except slightly higher glucose, he said it was not high enough for diabetes and is likely due to stress being at the vet. (My cat violently shakes and shuts down anytime she goes and will freeze.) and all physical and temperature assessments perfect. Her teeth and dentals are excellent for a cat and shocked him for her age.

However, he believes she may have hypertrophic cardiomyapothy but said only a cardiologist can confirm. However, based on the stress even visiting the vet, her age and the thousands of dollars just for a consultation he said that it may be best to monitor and a more hospice approach and that its not currently urgent.

It was left at that.

I just want to know if she is likely to have it; if i should follow that advice, what to look out for and based on her current condition her lifespan.

She is 4.8kg, eats only dry food as she wont eat softer foods, grade 4 heart murmur which is new, 16 yrs old, sleeps and lays all day, no interest in playing (which has been for a few years) and her ability to clean herself has declined the past year. still licks herself but gets brushed and nails clipped. No visible pain. She is alert and responsive at all times. Eating less past 6 months but not enough to be of concern especially for her energy output

However, there was no visible pain regarding the infection either.

I looked at the side of her as she was laying down and noticed it goes up and down about 50 times a minute, not sure if this is heart or respiratory.

Maybe ive done it wrong, or shes still stressed as we only came back from vet about hr ago.

She walks normally and can jump but prefers being picked up.

We are located in Queensland Australia if that helps.

Keep in mind she has not been formally diagnosed but it has been suggested. Any advice is appreciated and I am happy to answer anymore questions. Shes a diluted tortie but not sure about actual breed. No other known health issues except currently being treated for bacterial infection in paw.

Thanks

hypertrophic cardiomyapothy

No visible pain. She is alert and responsive at all times.

Stuck Uni student and advice on Torrens

Hi everyone, I have unfortunately put in my application far too late for studying mid year at any reputable universities for a bachelor of nursing.

I do not want to work and wait until next year without doing any education as I think I will lose my mind. These are the following options ive come up with, if anyone else has ideas please let me know, I am in the Brisbane region.

  1. Complete a trimester of the Bachelor of Nursing at Torrens University, then apply for other Unis including QUT, ACU, UQ and Griffith and try to get RPL transfered (I have an ATAR of 85 so I am not relying on my trimester to get me in anywhere.

  2. Complete a Certificate 3 of Individual Support in Disability which will not get me RPL but is free and I am currently working as a Support Worker. However cost doesn't really matter to me and this feels as though it wont help.

  3. Complete an online random course in health.

I've heard some very bad and mixed reviews in regards to Torrens but considering I'll only be there for the trimester I'm hoping I wont have too many issues.

Please let me know if you can think of anything else as unfortunately I'm quite desperate.

Also, sidenote is the double degree of nursing and paramedicine at ACU better if I plan to do emergency nursing rather than just the nursing degree? Thanks.

debating transferring degrees

hi everyone! If you do nursing this is for you. I am a bachelor of social work student and ive just completed my first semester. However I am starting to believe that i would excel better academically and career-wise doing a nursing degree. Unfortunately I can't internally transfer and the first round of offers went live today before I have submitted my application.. just my luck lol.

I just have a few questions as this is obviously quite a big change and I don't want to regret it.

  1. Any current Nursing students, how do you find it academically? How does your timetable/workload look weekly? What type of assessments/exams do you undertake in your units?
  2. Anyone with QTAC knowledge or experience, is it likely I will still get a spot in later rounds or is it far too competitive of a course?
  3. What's the situation with scrubs? I see many nursing students always in scrubs, is it just mandatory for classes?
  4. Is there any advice or anything you wish you knew before starting study?
  5. Is it likely I would get any advanced standing credit for my 1st sem of social work? I doubt it but just wondering incase.

Anything other than these questions please feel free to comment, I am really just trying to scope everything out before making this jump.
Thanks in advanced :)
