My experience while working for Starbucks

I 19F worked for a Starbucks in South Delhi as a Part-time Barista for 3 months. I am a white washed girl and always fascinated by teens working in netflix so I applied. I come from a well-off family and had zero financial need to work but I wanted to, and I did. Pay was 10k per month which isn't much but the first time that money hit my account it felt different from anything I'd received before because it was mine. I used to head straight to the outlet after college every afternoon, so by the time I got there I was already tired and the shift would stretch well into the late evening. The job itself was rough, customers could be absolutely horrible, one girl my age screamed at me over a misspelled name on a cup, spoilt brat!, I was one of the more sincere employees yet somehow always ended up on mopping duty, and standing through entire shifts wrecked my feet everyday. You get one meal a day though which was a plus. My parents weren't happy about it and my grandmother was furious, her logic being that an educated girl from a good family had no business doing this kind of work. My friends spent their weekends relaxing while I was up early for college and straight to work after, and some days I did question myself. But watching my colleagues, women who actually needed this job, handle rude customers, exhausting shifts and zero recognition with so much grace completely shifted something in me. They had no safety net. I did. That realization hit hard. I also made some of the most genuine friends of my life there. The work was thankless and tiring but the perspective I gained from those months is something more valuable

before starting i have to give some background-

my family was a normal middle class family my father had a decent business me(19 F) and sibling(16F) never knew that much luxury and we were pretty normal and had a normal desi childhood not bragging but after covid my dad's fortune changed and somehow my family income increased we shifted to a new house and bought new cars and started going on vacations(we never used to earlier)

me and my sibling studied in the same school in 2023 my parents decided to send my younger sister to an expensive boarding school because now he could afford it and my father's business partner's daughter also went to that school, since i was older he decided to put my sister in that school because she only finished 7th grade and studied from 8th grade in that school i was not that sad when she went because we were close but u know at that point we had a stupid sibling fight so i felt relieved that she is gone

In 11th i also went to kota for NEET preparation the same year 2023 because u know how packed coaching schedule is i was seldom home and we met like 3 or 4 times in two years like if I am in Kota she's at home when i am at home she's in her school so we got very small interaction windows hardly of 2 3 days met only on Diwali for two years and it's impossible to detect changes in such short time and also she is my sister so the overlooking is also obvious

now cut to 2026 i am currently in medical college and she has passed her 10th grade and has decided to opt commerce and has left the school took admission in a dummy school in our city she is home finally from the past 2 months she is home and she had completely changed

she has grown increasingly demanding always demanding for an expensive phone expensive ipad pro that weird and expensive stanley cup she treats other cousins of the family like shit just because they don't have an iPhone or wear clothes not that expensive on their face! she makes weird faces while conversing in a condescending fashion and argues with the parents on every minor inconvenience i seriously don't know what has happened i want to have a conversation with her but i don't know where to start
