The Apps as a Christian

How do my fellow followers of Christ feel about being on dating apps as Christians? The mainstream ones like Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, etc. Can you really expect to find a true man/woman of God on the apps? Are we not trusting God's timing by going on the apps? Just curious to an open discussion as it's something I have been pondering and am open to perspectives.

Setting sprays for sensitive acne prone skin?

I'm tired of my eyeliner melting off my face because of my oily skin. I only use eye makeup during the day but I need to use a setting spray. The last one I used made me break out as I have very sensitive acne prone skin. Any recommendations?

Mini Poodle Pricing in 2026

Breeder Recommendation Vs.

Hey all! The first picture is a blue boy, the second picture is the brown and white tabby girl. According to the breeder, the girl is more extroverted and the most social of the litter, seeking human attention when she enters the room. She said the blue boy is also sweet, but says that so far, the girl matches what I'm looking for. However, I like how chunky the blue boy is+his coloring, and have heard from both the breeder and others that boys tend to be friendlier?

Edit: I also realized I never finished my title, whoops!

Pros and Cons of 2 Training Barns

I'm currently between training barns after leaving my last one, and am having a really hard time deciding. It's not financially possible for me to train at both of these places, especially as I am trying to get a lease this fall. I really like both barns/trainers, but they have their pros and cons. Curious if anyone would have some input or maybe other things to also consider, as I am trying to decide. As for my goals, I would love to semi-professionally pursue eventing someday, but also love the idea of the jumper circuits. Not a huge huge fan of hunters. I am an intermediate rider (WTC independently, 2 ft X-rails and verticals, haven't schooled actual courses yet but have done a lot of pole courses/groundwork).

Any help appreciated! Please feel free to ask any questions for further clarification.

Barn #1 (Hunter/Jumper)

Lesson Price: $80/lesson or $280 for a 4 lesson block (Not sure on lesson price for leases)

Pros:

  • Big, supportive community/environment
  • Lots of knowledge from multiple individuals
  • Good trainers, but not as detailed
  • Satisfying lessons for full hour block, accomplish a lot within the lessons both on the flat and jumping
  • More lesson horses/lease horses
  • Covered arena, no rainy day cancellations

Cons:

  • 40 minutes away
  • Not as much local show support (trainer competes mainly on A circuit)
  • More use of equipment (draw reins, martingale, etc)
  • Pricier shows/leases (Some leases available in my budget)

Barn #2 (Eventing)

Lesson Price: $85/lesson, $75/lesson for leases

Pros:

  • 20 mins away
  • Focus on rider biomechanics, really effective and helpful trainer
  • Lower lease price
  • More focus on eventing and local shows (UDJC)

Cons:

  • Shorter lesson time (30-45 mins- taking this with a grain of salt as I estimated the time since I wasn't paying exact attention to when I got on/off)
  • Less satisfying lessons- feels like I come away having learned some great new things like a clinic/masterclass- but didn't *do* a whole lot in the lesson.
  • Only 2 lesson/lease horses, 1 of which is older and has a lot of health issues but is very well trained and very stable. The other has no health issues but is a speedier pony so not as stable of a ride
  • Almost no barn community (property is privately owned and lesson program is incredibly small, just a handful of people)
  • No covered arena, some rainy day cancellations

Is This All of Our Financial Aid?

Is this really all of my financial aid for 26-27?? I have like nothing compared to what I received in past years and I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Picky, Picky Poodle

Ever since I brought my girl home last April (as a 6 mo old) it's been pulling teeth trying to get her to eat. Found out early on she had a chicken allergy, have had her on a very, very nice raw diet but she still had fluctuations in appetite. Recently she hasn't been eating much, if at all, and when she doesn't eat she throws up. So I went and got her some very expensive kibble with freezed dried raw mixed in, gave it to her today, and she went and licked the bowl clean. My bad for trying to give her a gourmet, species appropriate diet, lol!

Why is Finding a Good Trainer/Barn so Hard?

I'm in between barns right now because I've stopped making progress in my current program. Been riding there since last December and thought I'd finally found my place, but nope. I've been doing walk-trot lessons for the past 3 months, even though I can easily WTC and haven't learned anything new. Naturally, I'm frustrated. The trainer is on her phone for the entire lesson. I want to learn how to jump, and instead, I'm doing circles around the arena for an hour, rehabbing the owner's daughter's pony because she loses her brain every time she sees a jump.

So now I've been trying new places out. Today I spent $100 for an intro lesson, for the twenty-something assistant trainer to be scrolling Instagram the entire 30 minutes and only looking up to tell me to put more leg on the 24-year-old lesson horse with a right hind that's going lame and has been out of work for months. This is supposed to be a boutique, high-end, and competitive training facility.

All I want to do is find a place with a good trainer that also does some local shows, so I can get some competition mileage without breaking my bank for the A-rated circuit yet. Is that too much to ask?

Just a friendly vent, and thanks for sticking around to the end to listen :P

Trainer Issues

Hey all, would love some extra opinions here. I've been with my current trainer since mid-Dec last year as an adult ammy rider. I was at a different barn previously since June of last year but I didn't agree with their horse care so I left. I love my current barn but I'm currently struggling with some issues.

The biggest problem is that I feel like my trainer is no longer very invested in our lessons and that we have sort of flatlined. I don't think that I am necessarily plateauing because I take less frequent lessons at a different barn as supplemental instruction (they are HJ but I'm trying to train eventing), and I have no problem feeling fulfilled with my lessons there even as we work on foundations and basics. My trainer spends a large part of my lesson time on their phone, and I have stopped feeling like I am learning new things or am working towards improving old ones.

The second issue is that I really want to be competitive one day, and I asked my trainer what I can do to work towards, but they told me to just keep going on as I am now. This is a bit frustrating for me as I feel like I am not actually working towards anything right now. Part of this issue is several of the lesson horses at the facility are horses that have been out of work/need more training, and so some lessons were more for the horse than the rider (me). I still loved learning about the process and how to teach the horse all these things, but I also want to learn for myself as a rider because I know I am nowhere near where I *want* to be yet in terms of skill level.

I really love the people at this barn, my trainer, and the atmosphere- but for the money I'm spending, I'm not sure that this is the best option for me long term anymore. Or am I the problem? Open to any thoughts.

Hey all!

I'm an adult ammy (20) who started taking lessons consistently for just under a year now. I've always had the horse bug but family finances kept me from taking lessons (took some as a kid but they were at Western places that didn't teach you much besides how to put your halter on and hold onto the horn). I would *love* to be competitive someday and I'd love to hear your success stories as sometimes the road just feels so long and arduous.

Which foundation did you start on and which do you find you prefer? I understand that dressage is the basics of *all* foundations, but I'm curious especifically for the eventers out there, what training you started on.
