I have Canon digital (R6M2 and R5) and film (EOS-1 V) cameras and for simplicity reasons I would like to buy a flash compatible with all my bodies.

Because of the EOS-1 V this flash would have probably to be a version which doesn't sell new anymore (actually I am targeting the Canon 600EX II-RT Speedlite but that can change).

I would like to know which criteria I should focus on when buying a used flash. The best advice I found was to look at the bulb : if it is white it is okay, while if it is yellow or crackled then it is not okay. But what if it is white but still has been fired a ton of times etc ? If I am not buying online, what can I test in store ?

(This would make me lean towards buying a brand new one but this is not possible because as far as I checked the new ones still selling are not compatible with the EOS-1 V.)

I own an R5 and R6m2, with grips, they fit (width-wise, and also length wise with approprate lenses) in my Thinktank 30 v3 digital holster. Would an EOS-1 V also fit (in terms of width and height) ?

Je souhaite monter un projet ayant entre autres besoin je pense d'une composante de traitement massif d'images et de reconnaissance faciale probablement basé sur le machine learning et cette personne pourrait peut-être m'aider, ou au moins m'aiguiller.

So I have a DS920+ hosting two 4TB drives in RAID1 and two 6TB drives in RAID2. It is powered by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) (the model is APC BX2200MI 2200VA Back-UPS) constantly plugged to an outlet.

That UPS is pretty lame, I always used it in the recommanded conditions of temperature etc and the first one's battery died after a year, I made a change for a brand new battery, and then I had to buy another brand new APC had to change battery again etc. But it did (and does) the job : there were power outages, UPS' battery dead etc, I have always been able to remotely shut down the NAS, never had an issue after replacing the UPS' battery or the UPS.

Now that's before I made the following "smart" move : buying a DX517-1 expansion hosting two 22TB WD Red Pro in RAID1. Then I had a power outage, shot down everything remotely etc and at reboot of the NAS, Synology OS detected the storage pool associated to the disk in first position in the expansion as degraded. We just had a baby, were in the middle of moving flats, so I did not investigate further, needed my setup working asap, so I bought another 22TB WD Red Pro. (And kept well protected the "faulty" one.) (And extra cleaned all my setup, dust, remade the cables connections etc.) Et voilà.

Fast one year and a half, during this august. I see the UPS blinking : battery dead. I shot down the NAS remotely etc as usual. This time as the UPS had another issue, I bought a new one, made the replacement, cleaned everything, remade the cables connections, turned on the NAS which (no surprise huh) detected again the storage pool associated to the disk in first position in the expansion as degraded. Now a new 22TB WD Red Pro cost the double of its april 25' price, but even if I could get one free I wouldn't. (I mean I would, but I'd sell them later. 😄)

Because I bet that my drives have no issue and that either synology OS talks crap or that the expansion unit is faulty.

What should I do ? (Besides ditching the NAS and the expansion and building something myself in full manual. Which I should perhaps have done in the first place.)

Remarks : I have thoroughly inspected Synology's logs, nothing at all. That smartass just logged the NAS shutdown by me and the degraded storage after, no more information ... Using SSH to the NAS, could I see more by checking dedicated files that for now I don't even know of ? BTW I've checked with my power provider which confirmed there were no power outages at all during the whole period.

So far I used this lens on my EOS cameras with the simple Canon EF to RF mount adapter for nightly astrophotography and daily urban architecture. The eclipse gave me ideas I'd like to test with the sun, so I need a solar filter.

There are Canon versions of that mount adapter allowing drop-in filters but only CPL and small stops ND. Breakthrough Photography has Canon compatible drop-in filters but doesn't provide solar filters -- as far as I saw the best they have is a variable drop-in ND filter up to 16 stops which doesn't cut IR or UV enough so it's a no.

Up to recently I though that front filters didn't go on this bubbly lenses but I came across this YouTube lens review (for the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 sony mount though but still) where at approximately 7min34s the guys starts putting a front filter mount on the lens.

The guy doesn't mention the filter on the gear he lists in the details of the video, but it looks like the NiSi S6 ALPHA 150mm Filter Holder that has even a version dedicated for my 20mm lens. But NiSi doesn't provide a 150mm solar filter though. I looked for analogue filter mounts from others brands, found nothing.

What would be my options?

I am using the reddit app on a smartphone (s26 ultra, official reddit app) and also on firefox nightly on Windows 11 from home with or without proton VPN, depends. No issue at logging, even if at some point I did not have access to my profile but it seems to have resolved itself.

A couple a minutes ago I tried to log in to my reddit account from firefox Windows 11, but at work, and had a "servor error please try later".

What should I do ?

I own a Lowepro flipside that I really like a lot, but it is way too small for the current setup I plan to go on vacation with :

\- Canon r5 + grip + RF 100-500 + lenshood

\- Canon r6m2 + RF 24-105 f/4 + lenshood

\- Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART - Canon EF Fit + Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R

\- Leofoto Carbon tripod LS-324C Ranger + Ballhead LH-40

\- Leofoto PG-1 Gimbal Head

\- Several Canon batteries

\- Three Canon LC-E6E Battery Chargers

\- A standard Zeiss cleaning kit

\- A four filters Hoya flat pouch with filters in it

\- Dell XPS 16 + charger

I don't think any Lowepro flipside would fit, and I am leaning towards a pro trekker, precisely the Pro Trekker BP 550 AW II. But is too big ? I went to see a Shimoda x50 I guess, barely can fit two DSLR. Also looked at a Tenba axis v2 32L which would seem to do the job.

What would you recommend?

Hi all !

I bought the Leofoto LS-324C tripod with the LH-40 PCL ball head already mounted on it. So far so good except for long and fast action (birds mainly). I would like to use the Leofoto Gimbal PG-1 on the tripod ? Is it compatible. Stupid question : how to remove the ball head from the tripod ? (Nothing is mentionned on the manual that came with the tripod.)
