The Konami Code Was a Mistake?! Retro Gaming’s Most Famous Cheat Explain...

Every retro gamer remembers it: UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START. But did you know the Konami Code , the most famous cheat in gaming history ,was never supposed to exist?

During development of the NES port of Gradius in 1986, the game was so difficult that a programmer secretly added a cheat code to help with testing. It was meant to be removed before release… but it wasn’t. Players discovered it, Konami embraced it, and the rest became gaming legend.

Why Retro? Why Now? just turned the game on… and play

Let me ask you something real quick.
When was the last time you sat down, turned on a game, and were actually playing within, say… ten seconds?
No downloads. No patches. No accounts to log into. No pop‑ups trying to sell you a skin. You just turned the game on… and played.

How did gaming shape who we are today?

So without a doubt things that we have done in our childhood shaped who we are today.   Playing on a team, hanging with friends, and Im guessing for most people on here playing video games. Playing video games definitely trains us for tasks in the games,  go here, collect this, sell that, don’t get hit, all those things. But at a deeper level we are going to take a look at what else did they do for us.  Did they teach you to look at every detail for some hidden things,  did you learn to take your time and wait for an opportunity or charge in head first in to a situation?  Did video games make you think you can coach an entire football team and know their every move or make you that master strategist?    Let me know how gaming shaped who you are.

What upgrade that had power… but no place to land? The Sega 32X #retrog...

Remember the Sega 32X? The add‑on that tried to save the Genesis and build the tower of power… then kinda crash‑landed instead. It started life as Project Mars, Sega’s plan to keep Genesis fans loyal while Atari dropped the Jaguar and Sony prepped for the first PlayStation launch.

What are some unwritten rules you had gaming growing up?

I’ve been thinking about the unspoken etiquette we all seem to follow in the retro gaming world. Like the stuff nobody teaches you, but everyone somehow knows. or even house rules that everyone follows when they come over.

Things like:

Don’t touch someone’s save file. Ever.

Always take turns, especially on old couch‑co‑op classics.

No screen‑peeking during multiplayer (we all know who you are).

Respect the house rules.

Let me know if there were any other weird or quirky rules you had gaming

Time to tackle.. Phantasy Star on the Master System,1hr Longplay! #retrogaming #sega #mastersystem #phantasystar

This morning we take a long play as we tackle Phantasy Star on the Sega Master system. This is the JRPG that launched the epic Phantasy Star universe. The game starts off slow with alot of grinding, talking to people and exploring. Its been almost over 30 years since I played this game and today Im picking it up with no walk throughs.

We are picking the game up with a brand new game, walking through each of the towns, talking to people getting clues and exploring the area we start in. the way we had to do it before we had the internet and guide books
