Going to be off work for 2 months … looking for game recommendations.

I was thinking about this recently and realized just how far gaming has come.
My very first gaming platform was a Commodore 64. It used cassette tapes to load games, which probably sounds crazy to younger gamers today! 😆
The funny thing is, it was so long ago that I honestly can't remember exactly how I got it or what games I played
So now I'm curious about everyone else here:
- What was your very first gaming platform?
- How did you get it?
- Do you still have it?
- What's one memory from it that you'll never forget?
I'd love to hear your stories and take a trip down memory lane together...
Mine is MK11, but 10, 9 and 2 are up the top of the list.
Games have gotten a lot cheaper. Do you remember how expensive genesis games were? Phantasy Star 2 was around $80. I think that’s over $160 if you adjust for inflation. Virtua Racing and Phantasy Star 4 were $100- which is over $200 adjusted for inflation. When games were that expensive, you only got a few per year. You made it work- no matter how hard or boring they were.
My kids regularly get steam games on sale for $5-$8. Oftentimes, they get bored after a few days and buy something else. I have a family sharing set up on steam with a few family / old friends. Together we have over 800 games. I bet almost all of them have less than one hour playtime recorded.
Here’s a few games that I actually played for more than five hours - xcom 2 - finished the game, mass effect 2 - finished the game. I was really looking forward to jagged alliance 3. JA2 was probably my favorite pc game of all time. But JA3 was missing something, I can’t tell you what exactly. At some point, I gave all my characters sniper rifles and it wasn’t fun anymore. Maybe I should have increased the difficulty. Older games were in some ways, more simple, but more fun. I still remember playing dragon warrior on nes and logging in long play sessions on Civilization 1.
I've been gradually chipping away at my endless backlog and have come to an impasse as far as what I should tackle next- Red Dead 2 or God of War?
Hello gamers! **😊**
What's your all-time favorite game and why?
Mine is Super Mario 64
I know nostalgia plays a big part, but this game genuinely felt magical. The world, the music, the freedom to explore... it completely blew my mind as a kid. (To be fair, I had two older brothers who are 7 and 10 years older than me so they probably helped me more than I remember🤣)
I recently played it again and for a moment I felt like I was 4 or 5 years old all over again.
Life gets busy. Between work, family, and everyday responsibilities, gaming should be a way to unwind, not another source of stress.

Every N64 game I played, I played like this. Picked up the new Starfox, and after 100's of hours on the original, muscle memory kicked right in with this Switch version of the controller. Glad to see there are some other sick minded folks like me out there. 😅 Keep gaming how you love to game, and have fun! Stay chill.
"All my rowdy friends have settled down
And it seems to be more in the laid-back songs
Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud
Everybody just wants to go back home
I myself have seen my wilder days
And I have seen my name at the top of the page
But I need to find a friend just to run around
But nobody wants to get high on the town
And all my rowdy friends have settled down"

What are you planning to play during the weekend?
30m here, I mostly play single player games due to time, kids, etc but I always love to see a bustling friends list with people online playing and also I enjoy comparing trophies or achievements with fellow achievement/Trophy hunters.
I’m on Xbox Series X and PS5. My GT is: Invictus4318 if anyone wants to add me, or if you drop yours below I’ll add you guys.
I’m currently playing TLOU P2 on PS and looking forward to AC: Black Flag and GTA VI.
As I started getting older, I stopped gaming as much. Between actual job, independent work, taking care of family, etc., there was just no time. But I’ve slowly gotten back into it, specifically story-based, single player games. And I’ve realized that I love Death Stranding!!!
I haven’t even gotten halfway through the first one because I don’t want the story to end. I just keep building up roads and doing standard orders. Whenever I have a little free time, I load up a truck full of orders and hit every stop on my way to a far destination.
That’s my little feel good rant. Anybody else enjoying that game/series?
GTA 6 pre-orders start tomorrow, on June 25, and Rockstar has officially revealed the pricing:
Standard Edition: €89.99 / $79.99
Ultimate Edition: €109.99 / $99.99
For an extra €20 / $20, the Ultimate Edition includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits, and other in-game content tied to Jason and Lucia's story. All pre-orders also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Personally, I'm struggling with the price.
€89.99 / $79.99 is already a lot for the Standard Edition, especially with GTA Online not launching alongside the game. Then Rockstar wants another €20 / $20 for mostly digital extras.
What do you think?
• Will you pre-order GTA 6?
• Standard or Ultimate Edition?
• Is the Ultimate Edition worth the extra €20 / $20?
• Does the lack of GTA Online at launch affect your decision?
• Has the pricing changed your plans at all?
Decided to make my own top 10 favorite video game list. I'm not gonna lie this was incredibly challenging because there are so many games I could've added Left 4 Dead, Spiderman (2018), WWE 12, etc. But here they are so judge me if you want lol
The Steam Machine pricing appears to be:
512GB: €1,039 / $1,049
512GB + Controller: €1,108 / $1,128
2TB: €1,359 / $1,349
2TB + Controller: €1,428 / $1,428
The controller adds €69 / $79 to the price.
What are your thoughts?
Do you think the Steam Machine is fairly priced for the hardware it offers, or is it simply too expensive?
And what about the controller price? Is an extra €69 / $79 reasonable, or does that feel overpriced as well?
Would you consider buying one at launch, or has the pricing changed your mind?
Hey everyone, been lurking here for a while, and I thought I would go ahead and pose a question. Been going to therapy for a while now, since losing my last permanent role, to help unpack that baggage (to put it nicely) that role burdened me with.
My therapist has been encouraging me to invest more time in things I enjoy when I am not working to help promote a better mental well-being. Along with reading, cooking, regular exercise, and knife collecting, I want to set aside time to game more. How much time would be a respectable amount of time to dedicate per week, in y'all's opinion, without going overboard? Some basic information about me as a gamer:
Thinking in 30-minute to 1-hour blocks, minimum, but given the preferences, that doesn't leave me much time to accomplish much. Thoughts?
I should probably list some of the games in my library; ironically, they are also the ones I recommend most to others. I should also add that this is not all of the games I have.
