Let’s work through that backlog! What are the last 4 games you finished?
Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2/Odin2)
Wario World (GC/Odin2)
Mega Man X4 (PS1/RG34XXSP)
Super Smash Bros (N64/RG34XXSP)

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2/Odin2)
Wario World (GC/Odin2)
Mega Man X4 (PS1/RG34XXSP)
Super Smash Bros (N64/RG34XXSP)
In my default collections (Backlog, Played, Wishlist…), is there any way to enforce a specific sorting order which is not ‘when added’? Eg, id like to see my backlog by game release date. I change this every time but it always goes back to when added.
Can I filter one of the default collection using a string of text? Eg, I want to see how many games containing the word ‘Mario’ I have in Played.
Thanks!
Just finished Donkey Kong 94 for Gameboy, and I was very impressed.
What a fun, challenging puzzle platformer!
A little masterpiece, which is not extremely well known for some reason, but should be rated as highly as the Zelda, Mario and Wario games on the console.

- Mickey to Donald: Magical Adventure 3 (SNES/Raspberry Pi 1B): 7/10, a good Disney/Capcom platformer, arguably the best one on SNES. Only released in Japan but there’s a decent translation patch on romhacking. Been playing this with my 5yo as we explore the SNES and MegaDrive catalogues for (non-violent) coop games.
- Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox/Odin2): 8/10, I typically don’t like FPS but this was, unsurprisingly, pretty great. Hated vehicular controls though. HakuX emulator with turnip drivers worked great. Looking forward to play Halo 2 at some point.
- Soulcalibur (DC/RG34XXSP): 9/10, probably my all-time favourite fighting game at this point. The praise is well-deserved. Mission mode adds a lot of depth. Fav characters: Kilik and Hwang.
- Kirby 64: the Crystal Shards (N64/RG34XXSP): 7/10, fun, easy, and not very ambitious platformer. Loved the way you can combine abilities. Reminded me of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, which I’d probably pick over this.
Ratchet & Clank (PS2/Odin2): 8/10, fantastic action platformer. A bit too many gadgets/weapons considering the number of quick access slots you have. As far as first chapters go, I preferred both Jak & Daxter: the Precursor Legacy and Sly Cooper & the Thievius Raccoonus to this, but it’s still a great game, with cool characters and engaging story/humour.
Rocket Knight Adventures (MegaDrive/RG34XXSP): 8/10, a good, hard-as-balls platformer, very challenging but still fair most of the time. Didn’t make me quit in frustration (like Earthworm Jim) at least, and I was able to beat it by (ab)using save states.
Have you also played these games?
What have you finished/beaten recently?
Having now played all 3 first chapters of each trilogy over the last couple of months, my personal ranking is:
I have 2 controllers connected to a batocera box.
I can only trigger hot key shortcuts such as save states with the first controller (player 1).
Is there any way to allow the second controller (player 2) to do that?
So far I’ve only played Super Castlevania IV, Bloodlines, and Symphony of the Night.
I had heard mixed opinions about CotM, but I ended up really liking it, perhaps even more than SotN!
I think many of the game’s shortcomings are solved with the Definitive Edition and Auto Dashing patches, making the game very enjoyable.
What other Igavanias should be played with patches/hacks that offer QoL improvements?
